ICT undoubtedly deserve larger numbers turning out based on achievements and in a different time would possibly be seeing regular crowds in the region of 5-6,000,however times have changed. The match day experiance is generally pretty poor,Scottish football attendance has declined (outwith the OF) and only the genuinely football minded will turn out to pay overinflated prices to be over policed/stewarded and suffer generally shoddy treatment. I'm sure there are many incomers like myself who have a soft spot for ICT but the time, effort and cost just isn't justified as a neutral, so you are left with the hard core die-hards and 2-3000 is likely to be where it's at for the foreseeable future,CC and co need to accept this and stop making good supporters like the OP feel awkward or embarrassed about it,it aint the ones who goes fault. I may well tag along to Parkhead for the final,i'm no glory hunter (obviously!) but hope ICT do well and i'm sure it will be a great day out, whatever the result, its a step in the right direction for ICT and what provincial club supporters live for, I for one am jealous as feck! Good luck ICT

Where did i remotely suggest we should be walking the division? After more years in it than i care to remember in it,i'm well aware of how difficult it is to win!

He's done a good job no? No. is the short answer in my opinion. From the manner of his appointment which was massively divisive as he was foisted on the club by CEO Scott Gardiner (who i'd also like to see the back of) ,his disgraceful treatment of Rab Douglas, his constant opinions on Rangers in the press till he was told to zip it etc etc. On the football front his bizarre tactics and in the few games i've seen this season we stumbled to wins, the football was terrible and only Falkirk and Hamilton having poor form themselves has seen us stay any where near the top.It is despite him, not because of hime we are still there. The final straw was his uninspireing signings in the window despite everyman and his dog knowing what we lacked was pace he signed....Cristian Nade and Stephan Hughes. Car crash from start to finish, glad to see the back of him, onwards and upwards

Dundee -V- Inverness C.T.
Match report from the Dee perspective..... Highlanders pip Dee in entertaining cup tie Dundee were pipped by Inverness Caley Thistle 1-0 in a tight and entertaining tussle at Dens Park tonight. An early Billy McKay goal clinched the game for Terry Butcher's Highlanders. However, Dean Brill was the real hero. He proved unbeatable in the visitors' goal and ensured Caley Thistle won a game they could well have lost. John Brown made only two changes to the team that lost to Falkirk. Peter MacDonald and Craig Beattie were given starting spots after coming on as substitutes on Saturday. Steven Doris and Carlo Monti dropped onto the bench. There would have been a third change. Matt Lockwood was listed to start, but a last minute change brought Willie Dyer into the team and James Thomson was promoted to the squad as a substitute. Dundee started well and made some encouraging moves towards the away goal. However, in the 8th minute Caley Thistle showed their ability, ripping Dundee open with their first serious attack. Ross Draper cut into the penalty area from the left and Richie Foran who switched his pass into the path of Billy MCKAY, who finished neatly from 10 yards. Caley Thistle's fast, accurate passing stretched Dundee in the first quarter of the match. The visitors were a cut above anyone the Dark Blues have faced so far this season. Not only were they impressive in possession, their energetic pressing made life difficult for the Dee, who struggled at first to get their passes away quickly enough before being closed down. However, Dundee kept their heads and worked their way into contention. The visitor's defence, with the honourable exception of keeper Brill, was the least impressive part of the team and Dundee looked capable of causing real problems when they got into the final third. Craig Beattie was looking fitter and stronger than in his first couple of matches and had a fine game. Sometimes he was operating as the bustling target man. At other times he was playing clever passes and linking well with the midfield. He and Peter MacDonald are clearly not yet familiar with each other, but there were signs of a promising partnership. Beattie made space well on the right and his cross was missed by the central defence. MacDonald controlled the ball to set up the chance, but fell as he shot and the ball bobbled wide. Caley Thistle responded with a swift attack that nearly brought a second goal. Ross ran onto a Foran pass, held off Irvine and shot across Letheren only to see the ball come off the outside of the far post. As the first half wore on Dundee looked increasingly dangerous. A good move through the middle ended with McAlister's 16 yard shot being deflected for a corner. Next it was Beattie shooting from the same range. Again the ball was deflected, looping up and over the keeper, but unfortunately over the bar too. Caley Thistle were being pegged back, but still looked dangerous when they got out of their own half. Ross sent Shinnie to the byline, but his cross flashed across the goalmouth with no-one on hand to turn it in. Craig Beattie must have been sure he was going to equalise on the stroke of half time. Great play by Conroy and MacDonald set up the chance and Beattie lashed the ball at goal from 15 yards, but Brill lived up to his name with a marvellous save. That was no miss, just a great save. Caley Thistle came close to a second at the start of the second half. Dundee gave the ball away as they broke from defence. Foran's cross was hooked acrobatically by McKay over Letheren and onto the top of the bar. After a slightly nervous opening to the second half the Dark Blues took control. Brill again saved well from MacDonald after Riley had beat his man and cut into the penalty area. A MacDonald 30 yard free kick zipped just wide of the post. Conroy's mishit shot nearly proved a perfect pass for MacDonald, but the striker's lunge couldn't quite connect and turn the ball in. Dundee were now far more aggressive and confident, both in possession and without the ball. Caley Thistle were being hustled into mistakes, and their crisp passing game deserted them. For a while the visitors were lumping the ball anywhere and couldn't Dundee away from their end of the pitch. Winger Nick Ross made a vital contribution on the edge of his own six yard box with a great last ditch tackle as Ryan Conroy was about to shoot. McAlister put in a great run down the left, and his cross was met with a panicky header by Foran that nearly looped over his own keeper, but Brill recovered to save. Caley Thistle's only fluent and dangerous move of the second half ended with Ross cutting in from the right and curling an 18 yard shot a couple of feet too high. The Dark Blues were straight back onto the attack and a clever MacDonald backheel set up Conroy for a clear shot from 15 yards. The midfielder connected perfectly, but Brill again pulled off a magnificent save low to his left. Dundee's last chance came deep into injury time when MacDonald's run and cross from the left caused momentary chaos in the Highlanders' defence, but the loose ball was headed well wide by McAlister. Dundee have stumbled through the early rounds of the cups this season in unconvincing style. Ironically their best cup tie performance was saved for a game they lost. In fact this was probably their best performance of the season. It was certainly night and day compared to Saturday. There was far more energy, pace and determination. Crucially the passing was sharper and more accurate, with the players moving better and more confidently both on and off the ball. The midfield might have consisted of the same four players, but they were far more effective with Riley and Conroy in their familiar wide positions. Let's hope this was the real Dee we saw tonight, and that we see plenty more performances like this! Dundee FC 4-4-2 Letheren Irvine, Gallagher, Davidson, Dyer Riley, McAlister, Rae, Conroy Beattie (Doris 66), MacDonald Unused subs; Twardzik (gk), Thomson, Monti, Boyle Bookings; Beattie (foul on Foran), MacDonald (foul on Ross), Davidson (foul on Draper) Inverness Caley Thistle 4-4-2 Brill Raven, Devine, Meekings, Shinnie Doran (Polwarth 60), Draper, Foran (Agdestein 90+1), Ross Vincent, McKay Unused subs; Esson (gk), Greenhalgh, Tremarco Goal; McKay (8) Bookings; Draper (simulation), Raven (foul on Conroy), Devine (foul on MacDonald) Attendance; 1,682 Referee; Stephen Finnie Report; James Christie

Such positivity.........so pleasing
This exactly from my point of view Scotty.I used to go along fairly regularly as a biased neutral, but haven't been back for several seasons unless to watch my own under achieving disappointments perform in Inverness. It used to be good craic and afternoon out with a few beers but i'm getting too long in the tooth to be treated with disdain, sneered at,criminalised and generally mistreated while parting with my hard earned, if i get NO enjoyment from the experience. My love affair with football is at an all time low due to several factors and only blind loyalty and camaraderie keeps the last few embers burning at all. For what it's worth i feel ICT deserve far better support and enthusiasm from the natives, but they may have got on the Scottish football rollercoaster on a major downhill run.

Quite remarkable result, but, was up at Fairways hitting a few balls and went into the bar to watch the second half, not a soul was watching or giving toss what was going on, sad sign of the times :-(

Jeezo, ya have to be careful wi yer terminology roond these parts eh?..... "a sense of loyalty, bred into me from an early age" To answer yer question Charles, i never bought into the whole "never had a chance to prepare" "didn't know till the week before" excuses being trotted out.As supporters we discussed in the last 6 games of last season with County disappearing into the sunset the need to stay focused and play for second as there was a VERY good chance this could prove massive as things were unfolding,if we could see this with no info,I'm sure those with connections and nods and winks kent a whole lot more!! Early season we struggled but it quickly became apparent Barry was showing undue loyalty to underachievers and good guy's like Matt Lockwood who were clearly out of their depth. We were unlucky with injuries but managed to hang onto St Mirren's coat tails, the turning point being in Paisley with Colin Nish getting sent off and losing a game we could have won to go equal on points. At this point it was obvious if we could start scoring goals we had a decent chance of competing and staying up. Gary Harkins was brought in which was a tremendous signing but extending 2 goal Colin Nish's contract and several other baffling signings during the January window, while County and St Mirren made very astute and ultimately match winning signings which saw County into the top six and St Mirren win their first trophy in 25 years showed up Barry's naiveté and the boards incompetence. IMHO our CEO has spent far too much time and energy championing the reconstruction process and i feel had put all his eggs into this basket and not focusing on staying up as "things were changing" Brown has proved that the squad are capable of results, but all, sadly for us, a little too late. The timing of Barry's dismissal and manner of Browns appointment were also shocking but there's no arguing Broons getting results since his appointment. All in all a great opportunity squandered in my opinion

Been arguing since I was a youth with anyone who would listen,Scottish football would be a far better, more entertaining product with both the larger Glasgow teams out of the picture. The one statement of Agent N I totally agree with is " Football needs competition to survive" I also believe supporters need hope to keep them returning. When I started following Scottish football, Celtic and Rangers were dominant, but did not have a complete monopoly on championships, however, since 1985,(nearly 30 years!! ) no one outside these 2 has had a look in,with all other teams scrapping for crumbs from the top table with the odd cup win or one round jaunt into obscure European terroritory the prize for hanging on closest to their coat tails! Competition???? As Joe Royle would say, My ......!!!! The interest this season has been seeing ICT and (sorry) County grasping the opperchancity and really going for it with a belief and confidence that they are where they are on merit, and yes, that was a breath of fresh air, also the pecking order throughout the game,(with the exception of Celtic) has changed big time, and any other season, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen would now be involved in a relegation scrap had we not so gloriously squandered our golden ticket out of first division obscurity :-( I truly am disillusioned and dismayed with the state of the professional football set up in Scotland, the charlatans, cheats and self interested money men who control and manipute our game to the ruination of all have scunnered me and only an inbred sense of loyalty towards friends and club keep me returning at all,but even this gets tested more and more with every passing season.
