Depends what ya want regarding viewing packages, since their is no cable up here that is'n't an option,(assuming you stay in the Highland area)however, a limited Sentanta package at ?10 a month is available through freeview recievers fitted with card slots,New BBC freesat with free HD,no subscription is pretty good,Freeview through yer aerial obviously, also BT Vision, which i'm no affy familiar with yet but they have films, sports etc. Bottom line is if you want the full sport packages and all movies your stuck with Sky and their ever spiralling prices. PM me if you have any questions on packages, prices etc ( I predicted no one would be prepared to cough up when they put the prices past 20 quid, what do eh know!)
  2. You've been reading P+B again haven't you?
  3. I agree Tug, I reckon most folk who have done time in the forces will know where your coming from.
  4. Used to take 50 quid of Scottish fivers back down south after every leave trip up home just to go into the pubs, order several pints (when you could get several for a fiver ) and if they refused Scottish notes just smile say "nae prob" and go to walk out out leaving the pints on the bar, most usually relented at this point!! P.S. Anybody with any notes their no sure about just hand them into the Fluke, C/O Heilandee, and i'll make sure they are dealt with!! :003:

Sky+ is undeniably the best and most intuitive hard drive recording system available but has had a lot of software issues and as stated above the fans can be noisy and irritating. It's not the only choice though and Humax make excellant freeview hard drive recorders with no subscription,(but no Sky Sport obviously)also BT Vision seems to be making some inroads. The new BBC Freesat is superb on the free HD channels, watching the footy just now is unbelievable qaulity and NO subscription (Mr Murdoch must be twitching a bit methinks)
  12. I'll put wee dee on standby for personal shoppper duties,no sure if he'll be able help though coz he cannae see wi the length of his hair as he is morphing into a teenager just now :crazy07:
  13. Yer absolutely correct Mantis (as usual!) Eh was one of the few there and even wrote a wee piece on my memories of the day in 73 on oor website .My only excuse last night was i was no long in from the Fluke and had a few beers :029: Eh mind oh 73
  14. Bobby Wilson was a hard as nails Full Back who played more than 250 games for Dundee from 65-76 including the League cup winning side in 72 and many euro games ,A Dee legend and can be seen at most ICT games home and away supporting Barry,a true gent who always has time to stop and talk football with the fans, he was down at the Dundee player of the year awards a few weeks ago....LEGEND and a genuinely nice guy.
  15. We had a superb old Italian lad ran the cafe next door to meh old mans,John the Tally who regularly complained in his heavilly accented voice about the "bladdy foreigners" coming in without a hint of irony. The local kids could scale his back wall ,pinch the lemonade bottles (Corona, i think) he had stored in the yard awaiting collection and get 6/d a go till he cottoned on and chased them miles down the Blackness road, yelling what he'd do to the "leetle busturds" if he caught them.He did brilliant "coke floats" and hot cheese rolls which was the Saturday treat when the paper rounds were finished. I'll need to let my old man know of all that potential profit wasted on matches wi the single fags :015: edited to say, apparently the books of matches were a penny wi a single fag, still not quite the blatent profiteering of yer Sneckie boy tho
  16. Ach, thats easy, thon boy from Queen oh the Sooth did against some team in the Scottish cup did he no? :blush02::
  17. Those in charge would do well to take a copy of this post, pass it round their cronies throughout the game, and act on it.I'm sure it represnts very well the mood of many supporters of football nationwide who's enthusiasm, patience, loyalty and wallets are being pushed to the limits
  18. Gonna have a wee punt on Portugal @ 9/1 should pay for a nite oot if they can do the biz :021:
  19. Can't believe Action man is still trying to play fitba!! he was keech 20 years ago.Mind you, he was always keen to show off his tackle. :001:
  20. Having "only" lived up here for 20 years my local memories obviously don't go back as far as you lads, but i am regularly amazed that many of your memories in Inverness are as my memories from Dundee. My father had a newsagents in Dundee and being a canny Hearach, the 3d single with a book of matches for a 1/2d was a great seller along with snuff (regular and menthol) which we weighed into qaurters in wee triangle shaped bags on those big traditional scales with brass weights, kindling sticks chopped "oot the backies" into 6d bundles,Parrafin from a large metal tank which we filled various customers containers for half a crown, folding a thousand newspapers (i can still smell the fresh newsprint if i shut my eyes)before heading out into the snow to do a paperound in the pitch dark and sitting up closies reading the "Shoot" by gas lamps (fecks sake yev got me going noo!!) finding lemonade bottles i could get 6d for was like hitting gold and saving up ciggie coupons,(packs of 10 gave 2 and packs of 20 gave 5) save 100 and cash in for 2 bob.....ahhhhh them were the days "rite enuff" as ya's say up here
  21. Wii went. Thanks for lookin :003:
  22. A handy remote control,if only..........
  23. It's nice to be nice and mebbe's eh'm getting cynical in my old age but haveing watched Dundee nurture Lee Wilkie through his knee angst for several seasons and paid for trips to America for surgery etc,he, as all players these days, look after number one when push comes to shove. There's very little loyalty either way in football these days.
  24. Yep Deffo Man U for the above reasons plus they dont have Drogba in their side
  25. Aye, sad news indeed, another of the good guys gone.
