  1. I expected to take a battering for my comments, and I don't want to carp on, but it seems others agree, fish suppers just ain't what they used to be. I agree Harry Ramsdens is passable and Lorimers on a good day are fine, but vary from visit to visit. Alex may have a point re cooking oils but Pepe's in Arbroath and the West end Chipper in Dundee( before it tragically burnt doon a couple of months back) do a stupendous single fish. Tally's always made THE best fish batter and since we have the best Cod and Haddock anywhere in the world it seems obvious Italian family owned chippers in Scotland are the Holy Grail for conniseurs. The practice of Kebab shops and Chinese takawa's trying to do fish suppers just don't work, and multi food emporiums are a no go as far as I'm concerned. I long for fresh Haddock in batter that melts in yer mooth with a helping of "fish bits" ( the scrapings of left over batter )scattered over the top and chips so hot you can't talk with one in your mouth. The reason we can't get good suppers now,I blame that bloody Salmon(d)
  2. As a fish supper connoisseur,I have to say, there's no such thing as a great fish supper in Inverness. Some OK ones, but never found a great one in all my time up here and now more and more seem to be using Pollock instead of Cod or Haddock Mebbes why the team perform better with the promise of a decent fish supper on the road
  3. Good wee article here, on the 2 extreme types of football supporter http://youngsportswriters.wordpress.com/2011/04/15/intelligence-and-tribalism/ Too many type one's and not enough type two's at TCS?
  4. What a load of old pish! If it's not the end of banter it's the start of the end.How can they justify sacking the guy for a gentle dig at their arch rivals ( self imposed) financial problems.Skachel gets away with flagrant baiting of hi bees fans and the wee DJ gets punted, totally oot of order!
  5. Or download from here M, drag down to "Small claims in the Sheriff Court" http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/library/publications/index.asp?grp=all&open=all
  6. Yer frequenting the wrong golf clubs Alex! My equipment widnae impress anyone,(well, not my golf equipment ) The bar bill may be considerable on occasions but that can be the same at the fitba.
  7. Don't know where you get that golf costs a deal more from Alex, Season ticket for the main stand at TCS approx 25 games? = £370.00 Season ticket at Culcabock use 365 days = £379.00 Sadly,I know plenty football "fans" who prefer to go out golfing on Saturday afternoons nowadays, myself included.Supporters are getting disillusioned for a variety of reasons, what the reasons are can be argued all day and night, but the game is losing a lot of diehards.
  8. I'm heading doon, go easy on me if any of ya's see me after the gemme, no feeling tooooo confident due to our current underachieving, but the wee break might just do us some good, fingers crossed. I'd take a draw just now

  11. Go on then, i'll bite. 20 of my Dundonian pounds says yer wrang. Losers money goes to the youth development of the winners team. Ya up for it? and it disnae mean 6p in the pound before IHE says it!!
  12. Jim, (i take it thats Rumple 2 pens ) i've mentioned it on the HDB's site so you may get some dark blue company for the game, ye'll no miss CaleyD, guid lad for a teuchter :-)
  13. Fan bloody tastic, the first set was critical and Andy dug deep to win the tie break, couldnae believe when he shot off 4 sets up in second but Jocky hit back and was always likely to win 3rd ,Andy losing 4th made it tense but he seemed to raise his game and Jocky looked on the ropes in the final set.Chuffed for Murray after all the nonsense he's had to put up with, hopefully get a Wimbledon title now and make the cynics and doubters choke on their strawberries and cream :clapoverhead: Edited to add, Lendl takes a huuuuuuge amount of credit for the win IMHO
  14. Whilst we are on the subject of TV inequalities,we are already disadvantaged by having Alba forced on the majority to satisfy the minority, with BBC radio channels disappearing from the freeview platform at 1600 daily,to allow for the transmission of the little watched (apart from football) Gaelic channel.
  15. Luke, i'm up to speed wi the Ferry up here, it took a while for me when I moved here as the "Ferry" doon home is the posh bit! Don, I agree, the fact is, due to the summer fiasco we have to deal with a situation where 10 games in Dundee (city) will have to be changed to prevent clashes. Nae disrespect, but ICT and County are the lowest away support in the league, therefore the obvious least loss of revenue is to move these ties, no saying I think that's right but from a business point of view it is. After the events of the summer I think the organising and governing bodies of our game have lost all credibility so would not put anything beyond them,if I was in your shoes I'd be less than impressed
  16. Really! You've obviously never been, try it for yersel, pub crawl down the Perth road or a night oot in the Ferry,( nae curfew!) if you don't have a great time I'll come and support Caley!!
  17. Been saying this for quite some time, the obsession with "Uni" and "further education" regardless of the "quality" of the subjects, so long as mum and dad can proudly tell the Jones's wee Johhny or Sarah Lou is "doing a degree". I'd also question why students who opt to do "proper" degrees shouldn't , if fortunate enough to move into the higher end of the financial earning's, pay back something to help future generations enjoy the same level of education. Having left school at 16 ( my choice entirely) and worked ever since, i don't in the least begrudge folk university education, but they get the benefit of years of extra education and consequentially are not contributing to the financial upkeep of the country, sometimes into there mid 20's.Once they reap the rewards of their endeavours, i feel some payback would not be an unreasonable expectation.
  18. I think Monday's the new Sunday, Fridays the new Wednesday! Gonna be a lot of effin about for us this season, as about 10 games clash wi them ower the road
  19. Some way off yet , but just a wee heads up ICT game V Dundee at Dens due 20th Oct has been moved to Friday 19th as several of our games as club 12 clash with Yenited and this ane has been moved.
  20. Don't ya just love it.... "Ha'way the Toon....."
  21. Having just moved up from the "wee" school prematurely, i'd be pleased just to reach the urinal and worry about the size later.
  22. It's a bit pathetic to call it the seperatist/isolationist movement etc. There would still be the same links to England as there are today, England would still be Scotland's biggest trading partner. It's not like Scotland is about to become a new North Korea. Are all the countless other nations seperatist? The only major difference is that Scotland would have full control of it's own future and make it's own decisions instead of having them dictated to us from London. Scottish interests could for a change be the most important issues that the govt acts upon. Do you think the seperatist or isolationist nation of Denmark would be better of being run by Berlin, Belgium run by Paris etc. We would be better making our own decisions that benifit us for a change. Joe, your the only one who mentioned "isolationist" as for "separatist",we are currently part of a union from which some wish to separate,I think it's a fair enough to describe people who wish to separate as separatist, no?
  23. I'm getting a tad disgruntled at the continual inference by the separtist movement that by being pro British I am in some way Anti-Scottish, the two are not mutually exclusive. I am patriotic to both causes ,and am confident Scotland could ,if required to do so, stand on it's own 2 feet and do OK, but I don't for one minute believe there is any advantage to be gained in separation from the mutually beneficial union.
  24. "like throwing 3 pickled eggs into a thimble" .....magic use of words to describe whet he was seeing, RIP Sid.
