  1. For those who have Setanta, the whole match is being shown tomorrow at 5.45 and again at 8pm, on Rangers TV.
  2. Georgia was bad, but I think the defeat in Ukraine has turned out to be a worse result than we thought at the time. They have turned out to be no better than the likes of Lithuania.
  3. It's a bit premature to start talking about who should replace McLeish. However, it is highly likely that he will have moved back to club management by the time the World Cup campaign starts.
  4. When did Belgium become an island?
  5. Manics in Edinburgh 3rd Dec
  6. If any team has surpassed expectations more than Scotland in the last couple of years, it must be NI. They start out in the 6th pot of balls with a squad that on paper deserves to be no higher than that, not so long after they endured 14 hours of play without scoring a goal. And yet they beat Spain, Sweden and Denmark in this campaign and have an outside chance of qualifying going into the final set of matches. At worst they will finish 3rd in their group. When the WC draw is made on Sunday it looks like they will have progressed up to pot 3. They are probably the pot 3 team everyone wants in their group, and will struggle to match the dizzy heights they have reached, but what an achievement. Oh, and that win over England :022:

    Pies

I just can't stomach the traditional grease and mutton pies these days. Got to be steak, and the ones we sell are pretty good.
  8. There's the Royal Hotel down by the harbour, and another one called the Cromarty Arms I think, a few streets further back.
  9. Cromarty is maybe a bit far to go, but Sutor Creek cafe does proper pizzas that are available for take-away. The dough is frreshly made on the premises every day, and they are cooked in a wood fired oven. Had one today, and very tasty it was.
  10. The far side linesman helped us out with a couple of marginal offside decisions, but the last minute Hutton foul was just baffling. Was it an honest mistake? From 15 to 89 minutes we did very well against the World Champions and overall I thought we deserved a draw. It's a real shame we haven't forced France to go out and earn their place in the finals.
  11. Aye, and pick it out Buffon!
  12. Rossco has not hit (!) the heights of previous seasons, but surely he has still been our best defender this season, even if that's not saying much. Proctor on the other hand is a lightweight utility player who didn't make the grade here last time and didn't make the grade at Utd even when they were sh1t. I don't think there's any doubt at all who our best right back is.
  13. A valiant 0-0 :007: But then Ukraine beat France :party01:
  14. Under Brew we got a few excellent performances followed by a few poor ones. Anyone who can reach a yes or no conclusion based on that is a genius or a fool! :024:
  15. Not so long ago you were heavily implying that Niculae was only getting picked because of contractual obligations. :024:
  16. Well it was tough going, but a helluva lot more enjoyable than attending the Motherwell game would have been. In very windy conditions I played beter than I ever have done and went round in 108, lost only 2 balls, and even picked up 2 pars along the way. An absolutely brilliant experience. So I'll enjoy watching Tiger and co in the 2009 Open, especially if they don't par the 9th!
  17. My mum dug out a diary she kept of my first few years. Amongst all the usual embarrassing poo stories, there were numerous references to sugar being in very scarce supply in 1974. It clearly became an obsession trying to get hold of any sugar, and brought much joy if some could be procured through friends or colleagues. Not enough to make jam that year though. Any of the oldies remember this? Why was there a shortage, and was it international, national or just around Inverness?
  18. Watch, Bannerman'll be along soon to disagree!
  19. My view at the time was that the Scottish tabloids hyped it up so much, with "savage animal ruins life of promising Scottish youngster" kind of thing. Shades of St Mirren/Kerr/Tokely. The severity of a bad tackle tends to be determined by whether your team's player is the victim or the perpetrator.
  20. Ganea? IIRC that one wasn't remotely in the same league as some other horror tackles, such as last nights.
  21. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Brown leave in the window. On the few first team chances he got he was not at all impressive. However, bigger and richer clubs will be ahead of us in the queue. But if by some miracle we got him back, can I take this opportunity to copyright the headline "Broon coup".
  22. Congrats to both parents - although Papalazaroo's contribution to the process was short and swift!
  23. Are the Poles complaining about Scots taking their jobs? Or is that just Zibi?
