  1. I'll be in Kandy, Sri Lanka. No idea if ther match will be on telly there. They'll probably be showing repeats of their cricket team humiliating England time after time on their own turf. :003:
  2. :010: Sutherland stepping down would be no surprise, but Tulloch selling out would be. Maybe he feels they have achieved their objectives, and never intended to be long term owners of the club. But what on earth is Inverness Sports Trust?
  3. What a terrible game. Both sides deserve to be out.
  4. Yngwie replied to true jaggy's topic in Caley Thistle
That's exactly the problem! They don't want to be up against any other televised football.
  5. ITN jnr, what you fail to realise is that England have scraped through every stage of this competition despite getting the luckiest draws in the history of football. You cannot say they have exceded expectations when they have not faced any strong teams yet. Their highest ranked opponents have been Sweden at 16 (aye right, above Germany?!) and they didn't even beat them. Here are the rankings of the teams they have faced, and made very heavy weather of. Find me another team with such an easy route to the QFs, ever! Qualifying tournament 29 Poland 41 Slovakia 74 Wales 79 Austria 96 N Ireland 112 Azerbaijan (Your Dad might be old enough to remember any of those teams qualifying for anything!) Group stage 16 Sweden 33 Paraguay 47 T&T Last 16 39 Ecuador This is supposedly a tournament for the best 32 teams in the world, and England have got this far without beating a single team ranked in the top 32!! I expect them to go further, as they play a team that really has had to battle against good teams to get this far and is weakened as a result. But there is no evidence yet that England are a good team.
  6. Interesting. And we have 4th best goal difference!
  7. Whilst it is a real shame for him to pick up a major injury, is there perhaps some irony in the fact that it is the 3rd World Cup in a row in which he has thrown himself to the ground without contact from the opposition?
  8. Which team has the best supporters then? I'd go for South Korea, followed by Poland (shame they're out, it was great to see so many of them invade Germany)

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I read in a paper at the weekend that we are taking a couple of Sheffield Utd players on trial. After 6 years, are things starting to come from the supposed link with them?
  10. The league table never lies, and we are very much a mid-table side. I don't think we can expect to compete with the OF, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen over the course of a season, but everyone else is there for the taking.
  11. One of the best bits of commentary in football history!
  12. I see Brewster is taking Utd on a similar pre-season to the one he took ICT on last year. Friendlies lined up against Herfolge and FC Nordsaelland.
  13. Well that's England through their p1sh easy group as expected, and I believe they are likely to meet Ecuador in the last 16, Andorra in the QF, and then Liechtenstein in the semis. The national heroes will be presented with their knighthoods the day before the final as the whole of the UK revels in glory and salutes the world's greatest team since 1966. Until they get to the final......and face Northern Ireland! :D
  14. Felt a bit sorry for the Poland fans, they were great.
  15. Just paypalled you Guzz.
  16. Was it not Burley that scored v Norway (France 98)? Or are you thinking of Coisty v Switzerland (Euro 96)?
  17. On a similar subject, consider the amount of UK media coverage that gets given to England's selection of a new manager, compared with any other nation. I even remember when Scotland appointed a manager (Craigie Broon I think it was) and the BBC evening news did not even mention it at all. Both BBC and ITV networks have various English regional news programmes, why don't they use them more for stories that are only of interest to people in England?
  18. Latest news on BBC website - Rooney's plane has taken off.
  19. Wayne Rooney's UNCLE has just been interviewed - despite the fact that he never sees Wayne, and has absolutely nothing of interest to say.
  20. Very interesting - although I don't think Charlie will be persuaded to take the boys there on a pre-season tour.
  21. What on earth is this all about? From BBC : First Division Clyde have been left reeling by a damaging public split between manager Graham Roberts and player-assistant Joe Miller. It appears certain that one or both will leave after an internal probe by the Cumbernauld club. Roberts was accused of making racist and anti-Semitic remarks during an end-of-season team trip to Canada. And Miller has vowed not to work again with Roberts and pleaded innocence over allegations of missing money. Clyde's investigation is being delayed by Roberts being on holiday but say they are likely to come to a decision within two weeks. "The club is actively engaged in investigating these allegations," said a spokesman. I offered my resignation on my return from Canada but was asked to have a rethink "As soon as this is concluded, we will call a media conference." The alliance between former Rangers defender Roberts and ex-Celtic forward Miller began last summer. And the Canada trip was funded by a dinner held to to celebrate this season's Scottish Cup win over Celtic. But reports suggest that a row erupted when Miller said there was no cash left for a players' night out. Miller told Monday morning newspapers: "I deny all allegations which have been made. "I was entrusted with the money from the players' pool along with two other players. "One thing is certain - I will not be working with that man again. "The players have been told the truth and the truth will prevail. "I offered my resignation on my return from Canada but was asked to have a rethink." A players spokesman added: "We met Joe and spent several hours going over the accusation and have no doubt he has no case to answer. "The whole situation is unfortunate and the first we knew of any allegations was when we read the Sunday papers. "Having spoken together as a squad, every player is of the opinion the allegations are ridiculous." Meanwhile, a Strathclyde Police spokesman confirmed: "We can confirm an allegation of financial irregularities involving Clyde has been received. "At this stage, it has yet to be established if any crime has been committed." Roberts was not available for comment.

Of course the reason we got Juanjo in the first place was that he was on trial at Livi and about to sign for them, but when Lilley became available they went for him instead....big mistake!
  23. Presumably the nature of the recent discussion with Brew was that ICT would be prepared to sell Black and Proctor to Utd if the price was right - but that we would not sell other targets like Dods, hence no bid for him. Our rejection of the initial bids is just part of the process.
  24. Having just seen the Dundee Courier article posted by CaleyD on the Rumour Mill this morning, I actually suspect that Radio Tay were basing their story on that, rather than having any fresh news.
  25. Looks like we might be beyond the rumour stage on this saga. They are reporting this morning that Utd's bids for Black and Proctor have been accepted, no mention of the amounts though. Also saying that ICT are fighting to keep Dods.
