Nothing makes a Buddies blood boil more than suggesting Paisley is in Glasgow. Paisley is near Glasgow. Not in it. Change those to Scotland and England and you will see the difference it makes.
Hi thank you for your answer , as an ex Bury supporter I used to get very annoyed about being called a Manc.
I see were you are coming from. But my point is that if either City or United had been put in the bottom tier I would expect Bolton would have got increased gates. Anyway ty for your answer.

I wasn't being serious I must apolgise to Philip - Must have had too many toddies that day.
I could make a good Ref though on a good day. I used to Ref junior football, but my main games are Rugby League, Badminton , and cricket. I still play Badminton
Not bad at Contract Bridge, Monopoly, or Risk.
Or just growing old.

If we imagine this as a retail transaction I the customer wish to purchase the experience of a competitive game of football at 1500 on a Saturday, with variety provided by competing against a large pool of opponents and visiting different towns and cities. With the sides on as level a playing field as possible in terms of squad size and spending power. Ensuring that you experience the extreme highs and lows that being a football fan affords. With ideally the chance of title glory or even the haunting spectre of a relegation fight.
I am not adequately versed in the intricacies of football economics but I am no fool and do not for one minute believe football can survive without money.
As much as it pains me to admit it I can imagine that the television monies received for scheduling a game on a Friday or Monday evening compensates financially for the lack of fans attending it does not aid in the creation f atmosphere and punishes those fans that travel to support their team.
I do not think anyone other than Celtic will win the league title in the next 5-6 seasons after which rangers may have reached the upper echelons of Scottish football again and may have readjusted to the pace and style of play sufficiently to mount a challenge. It is an unfortunate but insurmountable fact that the old firms stranglehold on the Scottish game has eternally damaged it. As aside from the financial superiority the legions of misguided individuals from all four corners of the country that align themselves with one of the two for no reason other than they are easy to support as or 'my da' followed em' means there will always be an imbalance in this country.
I appreciate this has been a rather rambling post but I had 4 espresso's this evening and now can't sleep the point I am trying to make is what I want from any restructure is this:
Chance to play lots of different teams throughout the season
Money spread out fairly
Games scheduled to suit the true fans (those in the grounds NOT on their sofa)
Excitement both of glory or humiliation
There are elements of 12-12-18 which appeal but I feel its too convoluted over all I'd rather see more teams in the top flight and 3 up 3 down.
I agree with this entirely
I was wondering as a relitive newcomer to Scotland, why in the great City of Glasgow that other teams within it's boundries struggle so much . I would be interested to know if the gates at ST. Mirren, or possibly Partick Thistle have grown at all now Rangers are out of the SPL.

Pull my Finger has a chip on his shoulder about me
He sent me a most unpleasant e-mail some time back
He had a go at my education for one thing , anyway it might explain our feud
No feud at all.
Here's the unpleasant email I sent. It was a response to outlandish comments you were making on Scottish Independence.

Hi Laurence, if you're going to try to be a WUM (wind up merchant) try doing at least a modicum of research. The points you make are ficticious and typical of the nonsence we are subjected to on a daily basis through the English based media. BTW you could also try using the spell checker so you don't come across as an old thick fecker. My point stands.
You are asad person with a real chip on your shoulder.

I'm 70 and I would be more use than Philip
-
I just thought he could play in the pocket and do some coaching, remember he played for England, he would be great to have on the bench, don't tell me you would sooner have a kid like Philip Roberts.

A real pyramid structure has to go down to the very bottom of local football. If, for example, the HL champion gets promoted and no team is relegated into the HL, the place is filled from below, as the bottom team(s) are relegated to the local leagues and the winners of those get promoted to the HL, with play-offs of the second and third bottom HL sides and the runners-up of the local leagues for as many spaces as necessary.
BTW, that's the way the whole thing has been run in Germany and Austria since WW2. For example, German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim were in the second bottom local tier in the mid-80's, before they started their climb through the stages and ended up where they are now. Not through application and buying in, but by winning one league after the other and getting promoted to the next one. Sponsor Mr Hopp wasn't involved until around 2000...
Maybe AFC Wimbledon is another potential example stalled a bit at the moment but with those fans they will recover.
Ross County and ourselves made it
I remember myself watching Wigan Athletic in The Lancashire mid-week cup final , not that long ago they lost too to Rossendale United.
Who knows what the future holds.

Maybe if they take the Union Flag down from Glasgow Town Hall , the Rangers fans may get distracted and forget about football
-
Sean O'Driscoll goes to Bristol City
Watch the Blackpool space - Dundee United will lose their boss for sure.

I was told yhe good Mts Butcher was non to happy with her beloved, sr she fancied the extra cash
-
I can on;y think .
The offer wasn't good enough. both in his wage and the amount of cash to buy players
-
What would you do if you were TB?
I think I would stay because things can only get better at Inverness , which means a much better offer than Barnsley will come sooner or later.
-
Surely not bl**dy Barnsley
Blackburn or Wolves maybe, but not Barnsley at any price.
Or as Dean Saunders gone to Wolves?
Or as a contributer mentioned Doncaster above , he must have

I don't rate him at all

Why diddn't Elgin switch the match to our Gaff
Would have saved a £25,000 fine
With regard to travellers , I have surfed the local news on the subject
The local camp is in Inverness , so it all seems pointless

He's 35 years old and would never last the pace we set.
Tell that to Scholes and Giggs

To sing That any individual is a W. blah , is all right then?
St M. fans sang it about our manager. He often gets that sort of stick
I mean being at a football match is not a church service
-
You have to admit the right winger for St M. was in absolutely superb form. He was beating everybody if I was not patisan I would have been over the moon watching him., Shinnie won't meet that quality every week.

If Accrington Stanley can play an England International, like James Beattie , makes you wonder if we could entice him to the Highlands, can't imagine Accrington have him on much of a contract. I know he is a coach, There must be a chance? Faint heart never blah a tin pig.

Proposed new league structure
in Caley Thistle
Posted · Edited by Laurence
Chalie Nicholas was very scathing of the proposed new structure on Sky today. He was not an
amoured of Charles Green at all. I seem to remember the word barking being used.
He paticulary disliked the idea of the points being reset to zeroi for the playoff league.
