A lot of people seem to be missing a very relevant point in John's attitude towards his new contract............which is the betterment of ICT in general He is looking to the future of the club as well as his own interests.........More stability in the running of the Team, giving the players better incentives to stay rather than accept losses to other Clubs. Making more positive measures within the structure to attract better players to come North. He dearly wants our Club to prosper rather than just survive. His personal feelings are positive about this area despite living away from his family, I get the feeling that given the right contract he would have his family move North with him but he would have to know that the Club would offer him security by giving him the ammunition to ensure that a permanent move to ICT would really be worthwhile and that the Club does want to lift themselves in the right direction and not just plod on as they have in the past going from manager to manager waiting for better offers to come in for them and any star players that materialise.

Excellent post old Pimpy, it certainly got me thinking ! Difficult situation, The Manager has done extraordinary well and should be suitably rewarded. He has vision for the Club and how football should be played versus your loyalty to the Club first aspect as so well put by your good self. Perhaps he should do both become part of the Board and still oversee the playing side ? Could it not be that there are people on board that are a little too restrained in their thinking and may be holding us back from reaching a higher status? The unrest within us imho is down to the fact we are currently not consistently at our best but that surely is understandable considering the key players we have missing on a regular basis. I still think had we had the full squad available we would be in a much better league position than we currently are and we would all be shouting for the Board to compromise and keep our Manager happy and to continue our success story when we have a fully fit squad again.

A football Manager's job is so precarious nowadays that it is completely understandable that a Manager especially one who is going through a successful period should aspire to get the best deal he possibly can from his parent club or any other looking to acquire his services. Good luck to John I hope we put the boat out and secure him, he has done us proud and I am sure he will continue to do so. ICT have been taken through loss of star players and many injuries and yet we are still in contention for top six, not many Managers could have done that....John has!

I believe I only met her once and I am judging by the accolades given her by the other posters on here and if it was her I agree she is /was a very pleasant young lady. So Laura relax and enjoy your 'retirement' from ICT duties, just keep on cheering for the finest Team in Scottish football and maybe you could cheer up this forum with the odd post now and again......good luck X

Wise words immortal fellow What a dilemma for our John, stay put and be a big fish in a small pool, with little likelihood of ever becoming really rich or having the resources to build and progress a stable squad of players playing his brand of football......or........dive headlong into a maelstrom where it is doubtful that he will be given the same freedom to develop and the future as dicey as a crap table...... but...... financially he will prosper and he will be closer to his family. I would really like him to stay as he has shown that he is capable of whipping a side together through injuries and losses of star players as well as getting record results for us and most of all has a jovial, honest and likeable personality that lights up the stadium.
