    Still works for me......

Excellent commentary thanks, wouldn't mind this sort of thing happening for the pre-season games but I know that is asking a lot when I cannot share the burden and participate myself. Purely self interest on my part I'm afraid. Just to say it is appreciated.
  3. It is better to have tried and failed than never trying at all............
  4. Unlucky not to get three points, we played well for 70 percent of the game, a god mix of styles and certainly the passing improving all the time. Defence pretty solid, Warren outstanding , Brill back to his best and no real negatives apart from two dangerous slip ups. but over all the better of the two defences. Had we taken half our chances and we made quite a few I don't think the Dons would have got back at us.
  5. Come on Wanderer you can put in your tuppence worth too.

Renegade, I am glad that you want Yogi to succeed and I do believe that most of our support do. What annoys me is the constant criticism of what he has done in the past, picking on every single failure that occurs now and not giving him any credit for attempting to improve our players' style of play. We have very good players but he knows that they can still be improved and genuinely believes he can help them reach an even better standard. ( remember Bruce and the spider story) There will be blunders made I'm sure, as there has been but given the chance this man could and I feel will succeed, given a reasonable amount of time by the Club and patience from the supporters. Certainly the players themselves seem up for it and they want success. It would also be a help to him if the dark glasses came off some of the so called support and they looked at the wider picture now and again. Why do they think that players are being played in the wrong positions when in fact what is happening is that they are being trialled in different positions in order to build the strongest formations throughout the field. Gordieict yes at the moment we have only two real wingers. Is it not prudent, in our circumstances, to wait till the transfer market opens and then supplement that area from a wide choice rather than rush to get someone in now? I know you are not saying do something now but you say it is a worry we have only two fit wing men! Hopefully they will both stay fit for the remainder of the season. I agree it is a worry because they were a joy to watch against County.

I suspect that this thread may die a death on Friday and rise again on Monday. Brilliant top marks IHE

Yeah Renegade, sad isn't it but that is the impression that is being put across so it is understandable that people are thinking that way.
  9. Aberdeen have conceded less than a goal per game so what makes you say their defence is a weak point and is easily ripped apart ? What a ridiculous post . That's your way of thinking DC and I can see why you have that opinion. However if you care to look back over a lot of their games you will see that they have been really fortunate to lose so few goals. A lot of it was down to good goalkeeping but a lot more of it was down to missed opportunities. Perhaps you see it as a ridiculous post but then perhaps you don't read football the way I interpret it.

This thread will come to a natural end if or when the team on the park begin to entertain and enjoy success again. Should that happen then I doubt anyone will be interested in continuing to post on the thread. In the meantime, I think it is bordering on outrageous that those who don't seem to have reservations about the manager want to censor debate by calling for the thread to be closed. It seems to me that those who have doubts about the manager, while arguing their position, are generally respectful of the views of those who don't. On the other hand, many of those who believe Hughes is doing a good job seem to be intolerant of the opposing view even being voiced and describe reasoned and considered counter argument as vitriol simply on the basis that it does not accord with their own view. There are a range of views among fans but there are no sides or factionalism other than in the minds of those who will brook no opinion other than their own. If anyone is offended by the mere existence of this thread the simple remedy for them is to ignore it at let the rest of us get on with debating what we each sincerely believe to be in the best interests of our club. OK ok I'll nibble your bait once more; You do not want a debate, you want to dictate under that pretence................Trouble is it is transparent and obvious. I do not wish to ignore any reasoned threads, there are some really good posters who contribute constructively and who deal with the present and future of ICT. I am interested to read their views and opinions .............. The others........... I just shake my head and wonder why they have to write from a mixture of hearsay and uninformed opinion or use secondhand opinion gleaned from a minority of ignorant posters on other forums. Posters who think it is clever to slate a good honest manager or/and deride anything that they do not agree with or THINK that they know more about the subject be it person or incidence. Some on here just do not want John Hughes as our manager regardless of what he does or does not do . These same people are now so committed to sowing seeds of his downfall that they are running scared that he might just yet prove them wrong. Oh yes some even say they do not want him to fail! Why then, if they want to be proved wrong, do they keep on posting in the same vein time after time?????

Good article, great spirit and full of the right attitude...........well said young man!
  14. One game at a time folks...........first up the Dons, Strongest point their shooting but they have to be given space, getting to the ball before them and closing them down fast and hard is important. Weakest point their defence, easily ripped apart, win and hold the midfield then fast passing to and from wings should bring us chances which must be taken. This should be a cracking game and one which we can win decisively.
  15. Can't hear that fat lady singing yet!!!!!!!!
  16. To watch history being made as ICT qualify for the Europa saga ?
  17. bughtmaster replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle

  19. Think you are right there Scarlet................good job we have tunnel vision...............don't see the wider issues.....lol

Well at least John Hughes has a vision of how he wants his team to play, albeit one which is contrary to the other sides in the SPFL. Who knows It could be the way to go, it is just the getting there that has us all so worried and het up. Maybe his system can work, maybe it is the way ahead, maybe where he has failed with other teams is because the clubs he had could/would not give him the full chance to develop. A lot of us have had our say about how he should be going about managing our side and what system he should be using. I include myself in this when I say what right do we really have to tell him what to do.........none really, we can just voice our wrath, outrage or expectations. .......Yes we do this because we think the side is being damaged.........We do not know however if given full backing whether or not this man could bring a successful freshness to the Scottish game... It is the unknown and the fear of failure that makes us protest so strongly .................should we not back off and give him a real chance to achieve ? Cast your minds back to the ''Butcher madness'' outcry, getting rid of all the favourite players in one fell swoop...........disastrous ?!!.... no .....the new ICT emerged and showed us just how right he was in bringing in the new regime. Took some time to settle and do the business but it did do the business until we became predictable and other sides sussed us out. Hughes has a wider spectrum of the game than Butcher and shows more willingness to try different options. I for one do not want him sacked so early in his arrival here.............. give the man a right real go at it.

Even I am perplexed, Hughes I thought good that means playing the ball mainly on the deck....good to watch...effective style......... leads to goals......... a la Espania Something has gone haywire.......... surely this is not the style he wants to play ............one pass forward three to the side and two back...... that's just not on. Educate the players....... that's his job......but not all all change all at once.........and not in that manner. Passing yes but constructively with an aim to winning not containing. All action running into space collecting a well placed pass, drawing a man or/and making space then passing using the whole opposition side of the park, constantly running into or making space and creating chances, that is what should be going on.................. just adapting what they have been doing so well. Must use the wings, there is so much more space gained by doing that and just how many of our goals came from good crosses. Come on Mr Hughes take a hard look at the Team you took over.....use and utilise their strengths don't confuse them with a slow methodical passing regime by playing the ball to foot all the time................ use the space.............The one/ two touch Spanish football is a hard act to follow ............ but that should be your long term aim and developed over a period of time. You can still make this Team great, you can still become a top manager and imho the best way to do that is to merge your skill ideas where they fit the players talents do not force the players to change............... incorporate their skills into your ideas and go along with the flow not against it........ they will appreciate it more and we will all benefit from the results
  22. Given time the role will emerge, he hasn't been with us that long and he is having to evaluate a squad that is mentally and physically exhausted. It is no wonder mistakes are being made and it is the mistakes that are costing us dearly. Again I emphasise that we have come so close to beating all those teams we are playing, we are playing good entertaining football, we have deserted the hoofing and when we master the passing game, which we will, we will then be copied by all the other contenders who then will take the praise for the rise of football standards in the SPFL. Concentration on passing has been put on defence and midfield, gradually the concentration will spread from midfield to the wings, then the tenacious Latapy approach will become evident as the front men lash in the goals. It all takes time, practice and dedication.................Yes a bit more understanding and patience from our '' support '' would also help

Don't want any more of them wingers Alex we have enough of them already. Could do with another left or right winger though to compliment the team.
  24. starchief Hope you are not up for Jury service too often the cells, I believe, are too full as it is. You have as much right to an opinion as the Chairman but that is as far as it goes....... , Never wanted Brewster in the first place didn't mean I had to lam-bast him though he had plenty of time to prove whether or not he could do the job for us and the Board took the right action when it was required.
  25. starchief I am glad you admit you are negative, there might be some hope for you. Your replies to Huisdean :- 1 would loved to have Hughes succeed............(.past tense, written off ) his background suggests nothing better, accept that or want a change before the damage is permanent........( obviously you have no faith in his appointment you want him out no quarter given,........................................................ (don't give him time to sort things out and put his stamp on the Team.) 2 not the start of the season / on the basis of keeping our squad,................................. (no it is nearing the start of the top six battle and he has inherited a fantastic Team. a team disastrously let down by a manager who deserted them when he bottled out of trying to keep the success going when he new in his heart the squad was already beginning to suffer and the games were piling up) Will struggle next season too....................( So little faith in a squad of players still learning the ropes in the SPFL and do you really believe they are so fickle to take the first opportunity to leave the club) 3 Why was he hired or words to that effect,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(He put his case to the Chairman the Chairman liked what he heard and is now awaiting fruition of what he outlined in his plans, he is the person who has the right to pass sentence. ...........not us..............We can state whatever we like about what we feel but it should be constructive not damning if we are going to be of any benefit to the situation ).
