  1. wouldn't this be nice! Forest Green Rovers small but perfectly formed eco stadium. Only thing missing is several million pounds of investment.
  2. Definitely some of them, if not all.
  3. Right, we're going down, so time to take stock. I'm not sure the above revised version of iamthecaptain's listing is entirely accurate, but it's a starting point. Assuming we can afford to keep those still contracted and that there are no release clauses, we have the following for next season: Fon Williams Raven Warren Draper Vigurs Mulraney Polworth Doran Boden With the exception of Boden, that's a pretty solid group of players who could do something in the Championship. The obvious thing would be to supplement with the best of the young lads.....but no, we've just punted Brown, Wilson, Macrae and MacArthur (I think). Great planning guys! Macnaughton could be encouraged to stay? Can't remember if Tremarco signed an extension or not. What about Brad Mckay? Assuming all the above (which we can't) and a complete overhaul of the management team (I.e. Punt Foran and Rice and replace with some experience) I'm not as despondent as I was about the future....BUT there are too many assumptions in there! The first move is to get rid of Foran and Rice right now to show the players who might want to stay that they will be playing under somebody who actually understands football. Without that, there will be a complete exodus, and a really tough rebuilding job. Perhaps somebody can fill in the gaps so we know where we stand?
  4. Reference to the Govan cheats indicates that you are hinting at liquidation rather than administration? My guess is that the gains from Ryan Christie's sale and the cup victory simply fed the annual £250k or more baseline running loss of this club, turning the apparent very small profits over the past few years. Some might have preferred investment in players, infrastructure and youth. I think we can expect a big red number in the next ICT accounts, given this season's poor attendances, loss of prize money and poor cup runs + no player sales. I doubt it will be enough for liquidation, but will certainly ring alarm bells. No cash simply ties the club in knots, with no flexibility to react to situations and always having to take the cheap option - evidence, Richie Foran's knee-jerk appointment and persistence as manager. There is no excuse for the 4 year contract - that was just pure madness. The board will be kicking themselves now for not forcing Hughes to sell Tansey to Aberdeen last year. Yes, he's been a good player for the club, but ultimately we're still going down this year and he's still going to Aberdeen, so the only effect is that we're £200k worse off. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Tough times are certainly ahead and will require a fresh approach and new investment otherwise it will be part-time football.
  5. Caption: this is f***ing Messi....and it's going to get messier.
  6. Never mind a red black comeback, how about a rednblue one? It seems a million miles away tonight and fundamental changes have to happen, starting with the chairman and manager.

...just another throw of the dice from a manager without a clue. There may have been some method in his madness because it sounded like Vigurs did OK for the first half hour....but his faith in Vigurs throughout the season, irrespective of performance has been a major contributor.
  8. TBH, I think the goodwill has already gone, likewise dignity. I like the individual and the player, but he must, must, must know that he's miles out of his depth, but hasn't got the grace and b@lls to admit it and do the honourable thing for the greater good. Completely deluded or arrogant? I can't work out which....
  9. Should have gone months ago. I'll not be back until he's punted and the fool(s) that gave him a 4 year contract are sacked. This group of players were capable of 6th and we're getting relegated without a whimper and with a great deal of indiscipline. Where's the leadership? Warren, Cole, Polworth and probably Mulraney all banned at a critical part of the season. What about all those training injuries? Apparently Fisher's currently at right back....eh? please, Richie: Admit defeat and give us half a chance to regroup next season and at least compete... I will not be back to watch this garbage as long as you're there, pal.
  10. ...and it sounds like Polly should have had a pen...this is standard fare when you're bottom.
  11. Rabbits in the headlights now. How many games have we gifted goals in? Just about every one I've been to. Pish
  12. Do you know what? Might be a very smart move: could help cut out his petulance and make him work harder to lead by example. Let's see how it works out.
  13. Vigurs for Draper?? Where's the bite in midfield? I know Drapes hasn't been at his best, but.... At least the rest of the line-up looks attacking. It is do or die after all! Good luck to Esson!
  14. BBC website: Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Richie Foran: "At the moment, Ross County are out of the relegation battle in terms of finishing bottom because they have an eight-point advantage over us, but by the end of the game, they might be right back in it and we've got to make sure that happens. "Jim McIntyre has done a fantastic job over there. "They are a real attacking threat. They have a lot of players who can score goals. They are a dangerous outfit going forward, as are we. "It will be a big night for both teams. We need to take the ball under pressure and we have players to do that, like Iain Vigurs and Greg Tansey and Iain Polworth." So, it looks like Vigurs and Polworth will start. It'll be interesting to see Iain Polworth play again...! Sorry guys, but Vigurs has not delivered in the vast majority of the games that he has played in this season. for me, the heart of the midfield has been a mess all season and Vigurs has been a major contributor to that, mainly due to a lack of tracking back and do the hard graft. He also has a tendency to give away needless free kicks - and we know how strong Fon williams has been in that area of the game. I keep hoping that he proves me wrong (and to be fair, he started quite well in the game that he got injured in) - maybe this one will be it.
  15. I fear you are right RiG. My preference would be to go with: Fon Williams Raven Laing McCart McNaughton Draper Tansey Mulraney Polworth King McKay .....with the option of subbing any of the midfield 5 not performing with Fisher and going 4-4-2.
  16. Yes, I was thinking similar, DD. I'm not totally opposed to this appointment on the face of it, but the dynamics are going to be a mare. The Sun is allegedly indicating that this was an SOS from RF, which is interesting, but what role is he to have and how much of a kick in the teeth is this for Rice? Under TB, Malpas took all the coaching sessions, while Butcher chose the team and tactics. What we desperately need now is somebody to advise on team and tactics....Malpas might well have the knowledge to do that, but will Foran really take the advice? Who knows, it might work, but it does seem to be a sticking plaster for a leg break!
  17. Have never understood why full backs deliberately show people inside - the likelihood of scoring from the touchline is negligible, whereas the shot is on from a narrower angle. Coaches seem to suggest that you're "forcing them in to traffic", but the centre halves have a marking job to do. The only other reason would be to force them into their weaker foot, but given the expert curled finish on Saturday, that was also flawed. Or was Tremarco just skinned?
  18. ...with new leadership on and off the park and a sound strategy for long-term sustainability.
  19. Mmmm, I got this totally wrong in the summer. Was so optimistic that, with the spine of the team still there, Richie's passion and enthusiasm would be a bonus. Even in October, I was still thinking the same. I suppose the test of a manager is always when things go wrong. The frustration is that Richie makes the same mistakes over and over again. Any rookie will make mistakes and I think we all had the goodwill to forgive Richie for early errors. However, he desperately needed a guiding hand from November onwards, when the wheels started to come off. Whether that was on offer we'll never know, but he certainly never benefitted from any. I really feel sorry for him as he flounders like a rabbit in the headlights, but he really needs to admit to himself that the job is beyond him. His appointment wasn't his fault, but he needs to have a word with himself now.
  20. Would love to think we'd have a chance, but we wouldn't. I genuinely think Mckay has this club at his heart, but in an open market, would we even be close to competing with....let me think...Aberdeen, for example?
  21. I admire your staying power, caley100. I too have hope before every game, but it goes up in smoke as soon as I see the team sheet.
