  1. What I find disappointing is that out of 7800 fans who turned up on Sunday only 6 were prepared to make the effort to go and support the team against Motherwell. This game is really important as far as getting into Europe is concerned. Must be very frustrating for those who organise supporters buses.

Not a fair comparison. Not all the 7,800 came by bus from Inverness. The logistics of getting to and from Inverness to Motherwell on a School night also have to be considered, and pose more of a problem than a trip to Glasgow on a weekend afternoon. As said above, I am sure there will be central belt representation at the game.

  2. Moving slightly off track, sorry, imho you/we should be pointing a very pointy stick at the SPFL. Scheduling midweek League fixtures either side of a Cup Final   :amazed:

We were painted into a corner, especially after we drew with Stranraer, I don't think there were enough midweeks to let us skip either side of the Final. The big mystery is why it took so long to re-arrange the County game at the Gloabal 50p for the Meter Stadium. Even those cave-dwellers can organise a game in less than four months surely. Maybe they were too busy praying for the sun to come back.

Mind you, after Gollum's 'unique' application of the laws of football, the midweek game against Hibs was more useful than not.

  3.

Finish above Motherwell, and we will be in Europe.

    Not necessarily!

In one example, Aberdeen & Dundee United finish 2nd and 3rd, with us 4th and Motherwell 5th. Then, St.Johnstone win the Scottish Cup. We would miss out.

I'd forgotten about the Saintees, and discounted the Wee Rovers, but I still think that if we finish above Motherwell, that will be sufficient.

  4. Billy looked really tired as he ran up to take the penalty. Pity we could not have another like Tansey who also did not , OR was not able to due to tiredness, hit that ball with the usual venom.

To be fair, a little less venom and a little more accuracy from Tansey would have been preferable! However, those guys had the guts to take the penalties, so fair play. Can't have been easy with all that baa-ing going on.

  5.

Draper was ineffective, running after the game. Shinnie was the best on the pitch. Doran improved things for us, just wish Draper had made way.

    I'm astonished you think that.

I thought draper did well defensively , winning the ball in some good defensive positions. His distribution, however, was murder. To the point that I was wondering about a red/blue colour-blindness test.

  6. So he doesn't like that we have no chants. Well, Hugh, we can fix that for you. May I suggest a chorus of 'Hugh Keevins, you're a w@nker, you're a w@nker" at our next home game?

Unfortunately for Hugh, our songs and chants make no reference to our father's choice of apparel, building projects in Londonderry or agriculture in Athenry, so I guess he would struggle to comprehend.

  7.

Out of interest, who is to be considered the poorer ICT fan from these two scenarios:

    1. An ICT fan who attends their teams match but leaves before the end of the game / sees the players pick up their medals; or
    2. An ICT fan who doesn't attend their teams games but instead goes and watches their local rivals instead?

Scenario 2 cannot be considered an ICT fan

  8. Soon as I heard Doran was on the bench I knew what the tactics were and that it was going to be pretty negative stuff

As soon as I saw your name at the top of the post, I knew exactly what would be said, and that it was going to be pretty negative stuff.

  9. I seem to remember that when County reached their final, ICT put up a big "Good luck" banner for them. Have they by any chance reciprocated?

No one in Dingwall could spell it.

  10.

Well it would be rather hard to get a comparison if I didn't compare ICT to a football club wouldn't it? and as we are talking about cup finals, clubs and football supports I think the reference is apt. or are ICT defined as a different case??

it takes 2 CLUBS to play a final,it also takes fans to make up a support.

Ad nauseaum could also be defined as people who enter a debate they clearly have no interest in......

Ah, so you were comparing? Glad we cleared that up.

On this website, ICT are definitely a different case. Most people on here are ICT fans. I would expect that to be the case on many other sites. Can't really argue with your other observations.Yes, a final needs two clubs, and it makes fans to make up a support. Are you saying that there should be a minimum size of support for clubs reaching a final?

And how are the mind reading lessons going? How do you know I have no interest in the debate. However, lest the powers are failing you let me explain.

Yes, our support is small considering it is our first major final, but at this point in time it is what it is. On the eve of such a big game is is surely better to be positive rather than negative? (Note to Yogi - that doesn't mean 4-4-2 and giving it a right good go!).

The reasons for our small support have been discussed both on here, and further afield, at length. I have no doubt they will be again. However, I struggle to see the value of debating them now, when we should be concentrating on such a big occasion for the club.

  11. Not entirely but the bottom line these days is that the club is a commercial business with several dozen full time employees which cannot be sustained on league income alone.

Our small profit last year was largely a result of our League Cup run. Our much larger profit this year will largely come from the same source.

No, not all about the money but this cash has been instrumental in being able to re sign players slightly improved contracts and, for the first time in a long time, ensuring that we don't have to embark on a massive rebuilding programme during the close season.

I get your point, but I can't see the day where I am standing outside KPMG(*) singing "We'll support you ever more".

  12. I wasn't comparing ICT to other teams, just wondering if Gretna and Livi took more?

It's a bit of an unenviable record to have the lowest support ever at a national final hence my curiosity, had the discussion with a couple of people and was just hoping for a genuine response. It's been said Gretna took 12,000???? Not sure about Livi.

Strange for the size of the city and the fact it is the clubs first major cup final that there has not been a lot more one game wonders, County had a fantastic turn out for their final.so why the apathy and low key press coverage in Inverness?

But by asking if this is the lowest support ever taken to a final you are, by definition, comparing us to other teams. In fact you are comparing us to every team that has been to a cup final.

The reasons for the size of our support compared to our catchment area have been debated ad infinitum and quite possibly ad nauseaum. Do we really need to go there again on the eve of our first major final?

  13. If I was an Aberdeen fan and all our allocated tickets were up of course id be trying to get into the other end. Watching the game in another end is still better than not watching it at all. I don't blame Aberdeen fans for doing this at all.

The problem is that it smacks of Tim & Hunnery.

  14. We might just see a spike in our ticket sales this week after all!

To think you could be sitting next to a Dons fan at the game...ask the person next to you an ICT trivia question that Caley Thistle fans would know - like 'What's the name of the street the ICT Social Club's on?' (Greig Street) - If they get it wrong, alert the stewards and have them ejected!

Don't think I will be wearing the sheepskin jacket to the game...
