Vigurs had to wait a long time..their goalie had been very good, Vigurs obviously realised that if he guessed the right way, Jensen might reach it, so was trying to get it as close to the post as possible. he just screwed it wider than intended. I was surprised the ref didn't blow for full time when the kick had been taken. Can't see why the Crusader player was so upset at Polworth, he had two goes at taking him out.
A really good game (for a Neutral), after the initial opening 5 minutes Caley took control in the first half and played some good stuff, almost men against boys. We should have been 5 up.....Calder impressed me alot, as did Mulraney and Polworth. Great cross from Oakley for our second goal. Bell was surprisingly anonymous tonight.
2nd half we came out a bit complacent, and they had mixed it up....our defence was all over the place, almost Keystone Cops...their first goal was inevitable, and strangely so was our sending off, although it was a pretty soft one in two parts. We were hanging on for dear life, it was the sort of game when anything could happen...I one stage I though 4-3 to Crusaders after extra time, but we held out. And we got to see the lesser spotted Elbouzedi!
Anyway we've got to the final, let's hope we can finish the job whilst working our way up the table.
BTW what's happened to Austin, and as for Tremarco, I hadn't realised he was that badly injured, we haven't seen him for a while.Austin is fit and ready to feature but was cup tied for tonight's game. Tremarco was apparently a possibility for tonight but was likely not to be risked so should be back on sat

It's hardly a witch hunt. It's deserved flak for two minutes of utter idiocy that cost us the game. There's no glossing over that.
Agreed, we're paying fans who have every right to be annoyed when one of our players loses the plot and could potentially have caused us not only to lose the game but also our play off spot. Some people on this forum suffer from a terrible case of Blind Faith and happy clapper syndrome

Another great performance from all the team now they have found the net, exciting play every time they pushed forward, not easy to pick a man of the match
Brilliant game, thought Tuesday might be a one off but was pleasantly surprised to see the same level of dedication and quality on show today. No stand outs for me either great team performance

Difficult decision there, especially for 3 and 1 points, all deserving of a point or so. Ref deserves a few points for burning out his whistle

One of those rare (in recent times) occasions where you could actually relax and enjoy the game! It's nice to be 3-0 up early doors.
The front 3 tore Falkirk apart on the break. Oakley held the ball well in the build up and always provided a target for Bell and Mulraney in the box. A good old fashioned 'big man-wee man' attacking combination. Mulraney's goal was a fitting climax to one of the best passing moves you'll see all season.Think the official-bashing is getting a bit over the top. The persecution complex / siege mentality can be a good motivator in small doses, but becomes toxic and self-defeating if you take it too far. All of our bookings were justified. If you were being picky you could argue that Falkirk deserved a few yellows of their own. As for the stand-side linesman, Baird was a yard offside for his goal so what are we complaining about? Regardless, why moan and boo at the end of a 4-1 victory? Cheer up folks.
Agree with everything there, good post!
As you said it was refreshing to actually be able to sit back and enjoy the football on show without panicking every time the opposition headed into our half

Before today they had only scored 12 all season in the league.
I get that but one or two could easily sink us on tuesday

Falkirk had a good day utd had a bad day so what one game doesn't mean they are now the best team ever. We have had similar scorelines in the past but been playing crap. We have competition for places we are a much improved side from the start of the season and continue to improve. Bring on Tuesday and three points.
Maybe so, but Falkirk evidently can score goals... Playing good or bad, we play good and still can't score.... Not wanting to state the obvious here but goals win games

The most frustrating aspect of this today is not the result, to be fair given our opposition and location and team we did well to get that, my worry is the fact that we again today had too many "just wide, just over, inches away, straight at keeper". It's this type of thing that's losing us matches and now to add to the worry the one game upcoming i felt we were favourites to win we now look to go into as underdogs. How Falkirk managed to put 6 past DU today is unimaginable and I really pray that was more to do with a "poor" DU side that an energised Falkirk side. If it's the latter, we are in for the biggest battle of 2018 so far. We could be looking right over our shoulders at Falkirk on wed morning and staring into a month of difficult fixtures to keep ourselves slipping into playoffs position

And now a suddenly amazingly improved Falkirk side who beat dundee United 6-1 today to look forward to on Tuesday.... At this rate we'll be on the wrong end of the playoffs

I was just in getting my tickets and speaking to Tommy the groundsman, he was saying ground looking pretty good and unlikely to be affected by any weather between now and 3

Just watched the extended highlights and that was a gritty win. Could turn out to be a big one come the end of the season.
One thing that needs to be pointed out though is Polworth's 'contribution' to the 2nd Brechin goal. I'm a big fan of his and some the abuse he gets is way over the top however he was a disgrace for that goal. If you watch the highlights he loses the ball cheaply, throws a strop and then fails to track his man who scores. Really poor effort.
That was blatantly stand out for me also, he does that so much and it will stop him progressing in his career at any level, he occasionally shows flashes of brilliance but that huffy child mentality will forever hold him back

Oakley has looked for me far stronger and composed since about end of November, he looks determined to make his name and its showed through today. I think Baird is a real trier and I feel really sorry for him, and wish he could convert even half of the chances he's had but he just never looks confident fast or strong enough to break through defences and any open chances he's had in my opinion he's blown them by panicking. Oakley looks to be the first choice and it'll be interesting to see how Austin fits into all this. Still think Baird could be an integral player for us but not upfront sadly

Highlight was Coll Donaldson doing a Cruyff turn whilst being pressured towards his own corner flag and gliding away from his opponent. Other than that....
That was a phenomenal move

If the highlights are indicative of the game it looks like two points dropped, need more composure around the box.
Considering what the team had to endure before the game, I'd say it was a valuable point gained. If we can keep up the current form until January and get rid of some dead wood, hopefully we'll be able to recruit a confident striker

Not the greatest game of football, but all the things considered including late kick off on a Saturday night, we'ld deserved win. Nervous first half but much more composed 2nd half and should have had the game buried by 75 mins. Vigurs stand out for me again, more so with his determination to stay on the field after getting injured. Solid defensive performance again, and again a lot to build on for the league campaign. Lot of positives to take from this last couple of months

Who does the caley jags tv highlights if anyone knows are they able to put a highlights video together Instead of just goals? A lot of the good play from saturday is missed on the dafc highlights.
Yeh I thought exact same, lot of good pressing play and shots at goal and good movement that I'd love to see again from a different angle. Really miss the Sportscene highlights now

Great going home after that performance today a credit to Robbo and the whole team who all put in a great shift today The only complaint I had today was the referee and stand side assistant who were ******* awful although it's not so bad when you get the 3 points!
Well said IBM, great day altogether and brilliant result ?

Agree with that, and after having seen a lot of early positives from Elbouzedi and then out for such a long period, it was great to see his enthusiasm and quality at the Crusaders game. Still a potentially uncovered gem I feel. Plus I sometimes feel Bell would work better as a winger, with Austin and Oakley up front. Bell struggles a bit with pace and can struggle with timing his runs. This would also free up a space for Daniel Mckay on the bench to do what he does best and come on late to score the winner.
