  1. Updates appreciated down here in Coventry 0. Top marks. :_thumbup:
  2. I think you are right here. League 1 is tough and I can't see a full youth outfit doing much good. PT should know better I think and get the balance right. Remains to be seen of course, time will tell and all that, but, for me, I think Rovers will struggle.
  3. Right punters, here we go. Same rules apply as before. See separate thread. No news yet on sponsors or prize(s) so just play anyway. Week 1
  4. Brechin 2 Aberdeen 1 (latest) :_funny:
  5. Beware of the early 12:15 kick off. Game being shown Live on the goggle box. Your predictions are invited for the above fixture. Bonus points available on this game. ICT First Scorer is worth Double Points. One point also on offer if your selected ICT player scores at any other point in the game (except an o.g!) Please make your selections in the following format:- HT: FT: 1st scorer ICT: 1st scorer Opp: Crowd: Entering your prediction confirms to me that you have read and understood the rules of this competition. Good luck. Update for Game 2 is expected to be on the message board by: 1600 on 14 Aug.
  6. Welcome aboard Dave...(can never have enough Dave's) Don't worry about being an Englishman following the famous ICT....they love us really.. Enjoy the forum and the banter.
  7. NPL Match 1 - Review There are quite a number of new faces to the NPL this season which is very pleasing, welcome aboard to all those that are playing this game for the first time. I hope you all enjoy the challenge and stick around for the whole season. There a few ?old? faces returning too which is also good to see, so, welcome back to you guys and girls. As the reigning Champion of the NPL I will do my best to give you all a run for your money in an effort to hang on to my ?crown?. Retention of the NPL title has only happened on one occasion I hasten to add. And I?m off to a good start. Dewsburydude, Tat, Harry Chibber, Gabby, Uncle Albert, BigTFan, Cal234ey, Gringo and Dalneighcaley kick off the new season with a bang by grabbing maximum points tally in the Correct Scores section. :_thumbup: No max?s anywhere else for obvious reasons. 9. Happy to play the Naps with or without a prize. Also happy to post the odds up in good time but will not be able to assist with updates due to time constraints etc.
  10. Well done Shane and well done ICT and all those giving updates...my hero's.. :_thumbup:
  11. Had the game have been in Stockport (or even Crewe as it was initially!) I'd have been there tonight. Witton isn't easy to get to via public transport. :_thumbdown:
  12. Some nice photos there, DD - whets the appetite for the new season's away days. Aye, but the away days in the SPL will not be as good as Fleetwood, that I can guarentee.
  13. A 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town is nothing to get upset about. Fleetwood earned promotion to the fifth tier of English football for the first time and this league does produce some quality teams that will give any SPL opposition a decent game. As for us, we huffed and puffed at the start and were under the cosh early on. Our new signing between the sticks had a fine game and made one memorable save from a free-kick. After going behind we almost equalised straight away but, unfortunately, Roy hasn't got that 'in front of goal instinct' as his lame effort was easily saved. We also hit the bar towards HT as we tried to get back on level terms. We started brightly enough in the second half but we were weak in front of goal. There second was a defensive mix up which had Terry and Mo raging (as well as us) but, after that, we did try to make a game of it. TB answered our calls for Rooney and he got one back within 5 mins of coming on. We had chances late on to snatch a draw but our efforts were wayward or easily saved. Just a comment on some of the new faces: Tuffey was excellent between the sticks but there does seem to be a lack of communication with his defence at times which is understandable for a new guy. McCann looked ring rusty and uncertain, not sure if he was responsible for any of the goals mind but he didn't fill me with confidence. Early days of course. Gil whatshisname looking up for it when he came on and did a loy of running around. His first touch was woeful and distribution of the ball was also bellow par. Again. early days and I'm they'll all come good in the end. Fleetwood Town FC as a whole was a wonderful relaxed experience. There was no segregation for this match and the banter was superb. There was a bar underneath the stand behind the goal where both sets of supporters were able to drink and enjoy the occasion. You could also have a pint at half time! Big screen TV as well with action replays of goals and a full list of the teams, goals etc. For a team that attracts the same kind of crowds as we did in the SFL their facilities put ours SPL one's to shame. Despite the score it was a great day out.
  14. Here we go again for another exciting instalment of the infamous NPL. If you are new to this game please read the rules before entering, thank you. Your predictions are invited for the above fixture. Please make your selections in the following format:- HT: FT: 1st scorer ICT: 1st scorer Opp: Crowd: Entering your prediction confirms to me that you have read and understood the rules of this competition. Good luck. Update for Game 1 is expected to be on the message board by: 1900 on 31 July.
  15. If our train is on time into Preston from Coventry Nil we'll be on the 1155 from there (Blackpool at 1218) See you in the boozer...(if I can find it!!)
  16. Now that's a nice looking shirt. I could be forced to part with some cash. So much better than recent efforts.
  17. 6 goals in 20 minutes? Did Elgin City lie down after Eric scored? Many thanks to all for updates. Much appreciated down here in Coventry 0. :_thumbup:
  18. Shocking...heads must roll.. :_doh:
  19. Note to regular NPL punters:- There are no chances to rules for 2010/11 Rules and Instruction for playing the Nutters Prediction League (NPL) for the 2010/11 Season How to Play ? General Information To take part in the NPL all you have to do is simply predict the following for all First Team Inverness Caledonian Thistle (ICT) matches:- The Half Time (HT) score. The Full Time (FT) score. The scorer of the First goal for ICT. The scorer of the first goal for the opposition and Guess the number in the crowd for the game. There is no need to register for this game. Just enter your prediction on the Gringo?s NPL Board on the forum before the match kicks off. Each game will be posted on the board approx? two weeks before the match kicks off (if I remember!) Post your prediction in the following format:- HT: FT: 1st Scorer ICT: 1st Scorer Opp: Crowd: (Just copy and paste the above format onto the board and add your predictions) For Example :- Gringo HT: 0-0 FT: 2-1 1st Scorer ICT: Anybody 1st Scorer Opp: Bonehead Crowd: 2232 Important To avoid losing points, please use the same 'username' throughout the contest. The Rules / Scoring system All predictions should be posted before kick off, it is up to you to check k.o. times and post accordingly No excuses! ALL entries posted after k.o. (even 1 sec over) will NOT be accepted. Each game will be advertised on the Gringo's NPL board approx' two weeks or so before the game. These games will remain on the board throughout the season and, where possible, will be ?locked? after kick off or some other time convenient to me. H-T and F-T Correct Scores You will be awarded 1 pt for each correct score (1-0) and result (h, a or d) + a bonus of 2pts for an all correct prediction. I.E If you predict a 1-0 score and the actual score is 2-0 you will be awarded 1 pt for the 'home' result and 1pt for the '0' score. If the score was 1-0 you would get 1pt for the '1', 1pt for the '0' and 1pt for the 'home' result plus a bonus of 2pts for an all correct answer giving you a max 5pts. (Sounds complicated but it will become as clear as mud as the game progresses). So, basically, a correct score is worth 5 points. Please note that, unless you state otherwise in your prediction, the first score you give will always be regarded as the 'home' team. First Scorer ICT/ Opposition /Use of Surnames You will be awarded 2pts for a correct answer. OG's do count but only if you state this at the time and for the correct team. Please be aware of teams who have the same players surname in the line up so please state clearly which player you have selected by using their first name(s). Failure to clarify this WILL result in a loss of points. Crowd You will be awarded 10 pts if you are bang on and 5pts if you are no more than 100 out ? over or under. The crowd figure will be determined by those displayed on CeeFax. If for some reason CeeFax fail to post their updates in reasonable time, the BBC Football web site will be used or any other alternative recognised web site. If there are no correct predictions (10 pointers) for the crowd then the nearest entrant to the actual figure will be awarded TWO bonus points. If there is a tie for this honour all involved will receive the two points. Cup Matches Cup matches will be based on 90 mins only. Extra time does not count. There will be no extra points awarded for extra-time scores / pens etc. Any games played on a neutral ground the ?home? team will be notified on the appropriate game thread. Bonus points From time to time I will select a match where bonus points will be available. All bonus point matches and details of how to win these points will be advertised on the specific thread. Please look out for them ? they could appear at any time. Abandoned / Postponed Matches Abandoned and Postponed matches will be VOID and all entries will be cancelled. They will NOT be carried over for the re-arranged fixture. They will also be deleted from the message board. Notes on 1st scorer A point was raised about naming a first scorer after predicting a '0' scoreline. It was suggested that the entrant should put 'None' or ?No Scorer? in the first scorer section and be awarded the 2pts. As far as I am concerned if there isn?t a goal there cannot be a 'first scorer'. I have no problem with entrants naming a 'first scorer' and predicting a '0' scoreline. It will be accepted. (Affectionately known as Gringo?s Law) Posting for other players / Multiple Postings You can post a prediction on behalf of another entrant (with their permission!) but please specify clearly who the prediction is for. Posting a series of predictions is also permitted but please make sure all the entrant?s names are on the respective entries. Notes on Correcting your Prediction Corrections to your prediction(s) can me made prior to kick-off by either using the edit facility on the original post or, alternatively, just re-post the whole prediction. The later prediction is always used when the NPL spreadsheet is compiled. Scores and Updates Results and Tables from completed Games will be posted as soon as possible after each game. As I am the only person running the NPL, delays to updates can be expected due to holidays and going to watch ICT etc. As a general rule I will attempt to get the update on the NPL Board no later than two hours after the match. An expected update time will be advised on the respective Game Thread. Championship Tie In the event of a tie for first place, positions will be decided by the amount of correct scores (HT/FT 5 pointers) you have got, if there is still a tie after that the amount of correct scorers will be used. If it is still tied after that then I will use the average points system. Prize The winner will receive (eventually) a small-engraved trophy, which can gather the dust whilst sat on top of the telly. As the winner of the NPL you are also entitled to bragging rights throughout the close season. The top ten positions will be regarded as ?qualifying for Europe? and will be inscribed on the NPL Honours list.
  20. I'll be up for joining you from Preston depending on which train you're getting. Save me some beer. Tell me the time and buy yer own feckin beer. 12:19 from Preston (that's the 12:01 from Chorley by the way). Reaches Blackpool at 12:50 so plenty of time for beer and to get to Fleetwood. I will buy my fecking beer but only if you safe me some, ya pish hied.
  21. I saw that game on the fixture list '- Honka v Bangor' - and thought it was something to with air horns on vintage cars...
  22. There was a 10-2 away at Deveronvale 20 July 2004. I think there was a 15-0 v Golspie in the North Cup too but not sure if that was in HL days.
  23. Absolutely brilliant lads well done. Looking at some of the scores maybe they should start against Celtic.
  24. I'll be up for joining you from Preston depending on which train you're getting. Save me some beer.
