Past teams and goals scored for them is irrelevant to current season. The only thing that matters is current form. According to ICTFC website he has 14 appearances with 4 goals scored that's one goal every 3.5 games or one goal every 315 mins assuming he's played full 90 mins every match. So not the one every two game ratio. If this has not been updated since last night then it's 5 in 15. 1 goal every 3 games or every 270 mins again assuming he's played full 90 mins per match. For this to be our best striker it is not going to get us a play off place.  He's also played 6 games more than Oakley who has scored 3 goals and 5 more than Austin who has also scored 3 goals.

Agree current form is very important and thats exactly why we should be getting behind White rather than berating him.

League stats which in reality is most important considering we want to get back to the Premiership

White has had 8 league starts in a row scoring 4 goals which by anyones standard is excellent form.

He is on track to get 16 goals this season which will mean he will be one of the top strikers in the league.

Im sure it would be great for the lad to get some vocal support against County as opposed to the barracking he got on Tuesday night ,is it any wonder he reacted to one or two idiots when as you can see he is in top scoring form.

Well either way at least we dont have to read his nonsense any more.

He is not the most talented or the most prolific forward we have ever had and we possibly need to start someone else.

However, does he really need a whole separate thread directed at abusing him. That is hardly likely to infuse him with confidence and is; in my opinion, entirely inappropriate.

Agree he isnt as prolific as some player we have had ,but it would take some player to beat Rooneys record with us.

Agree with you the thread is entirely inappropriate.

Dont agree we should start someone else instead of him as his ratio of 1 goal in 2 starts is very good, however what I would like is someone playing alongside him as a front two.

The team has just equalled the club record for the number of league games undefeated (22) and moved back into the play off places.  It's a great achievement.  Yet some of the "support" choose to boo the team at the end and to hurl abuse at our leading scorer who happened to score the 2nd equaliser tonight.  It can't exactly encourage players to want to play for us if that is the kind of "support" fans give.

Of course the recent draws are frustrating and we've lacked penetration going forward, but you don't go 22 games unbeaten if you are a poor side.  The players themselves were clearly gutted not to have got a win from the game tonight.  Perhaps if some of the folk who were constantly on the players' backs all night had shown a bit of support instead, then the players may have felt less pressured and played better as a result.

Totally ageee with you again, some of our fans are a disgrace ,first the Polworth saga, now White is the target of the boo boys and he actually has scored 3 in last 4 games its baffling.

Look at it this way - drawing all your games gets you 36 points and puts you in relegation play off territory.

Losing them all gets you relegated and we ain’t losing any

Caley D summed it up in another thread - If there were a couple of one goal wins included we would be four pints better off and things would look a lot better.

Well there could be another win tomorrow which would give us four wins so far and no defeats.

everybody seems to think we could replace the draws with wins but it could easily be a defeat

Absolutely need first team football next season.  19/20 half a season in League Two, half at ICT then 20/21 half a season in league one, half at ICT?  This is what clubs/U21 Scotland players have done and why we should be signing them on contracts for three years after U18 season is done - they've earned it.  All things equal, should JR really expect anything before 21 in terms of first team?

    No loans to Highland League.

Absolutely agree with you, loan some out to league 1 and 2 , as nothing beats playing in a mans environment competitively to bring young players on.

Oh come on RIG. This criticism of White is surely entirely fair. I dont like having a go at an individual and I realise you are an ever present whilst I attend less regularly. I have however seen enough of Mr White to be fairly sure that i am close to the mark. His game awareness appears poor.........where is the ball likely to be played.?...........anticipation of touches and knock ons......is amongst the worst I have seen from an ICT striker. He wins little in the air and rarely gets more than 6 ins off the ground when jumping. It is true we are short on creativity but all the more need then for a mobile, alert man up front giving 100% (I dont believe in 110% as I feel it is impossible......over to the mathematician Mantis). It is no coincidence that the goals have dried up with the current line up. I like Oakley at this level.......he really puts himself about and is our best option.........hurry back son. Cheers from Porto Santo. Oh and stop press from here..........Cristiano Ronaldo ,who owns half this island, is entirely innocent of all accusations..........

There is your answer Naelifts in bold

Rig is giving his opinion based on seeing most of the games.

You blame White for the lack of goals but in the last 6 league games we as a team have only scored 5 goals and White has scored 3 of them .

His game awareness is very good he lays balls off well set one up for Walsh yesterday, he wins flick ons and links play up , if you actually suss out what type of player he is, like Rig has done, then as a back to goal striker he is a very good at it. I personally think we should change to a 442 and have him playing with Oakley or Austin and on yesterdays performace young McKay did enough for me to be given an opportunity in a wide position.

I understand most people look for a scapegoat but the facts would lead me to the belief you you are picking the wrong player to blame. I think people have preference for a particular type of player look at arguments about Messi and Ronaldo for instance but they are both excellent players. Same with our strikers they  all have  decent scoring ratios for the Championship that could get them into the top five scorers in the league.

So surely we need to be looking at other players to step up and play like they did  against Partick which was a wonderful first half performance by eveyrone and some even said it was the best performance in years of free flowing football.

Sorry if Im going against the tide with this one, same as Rig but I base my judgement on what I see backed up by facts not preference of a particular type of player.

Daniel is still young and growing. Against physically stronger opposition over a game they can wear him down with the physicality of the game. However, 15 mins of a fresh, fast and keen youngster is much more effective. I would have Oakley as number 1 out of all our options

Agree with you re Daniel, but as for no 1 striker actually in league games Austin and White both have better ratio of goals scored in their time with the club than Oakley.

  9. 2 hours ago, DoofersDad said:

People seem to be forgetting that Daniel started against Dunfermline in the Challenge Cup.  If I recall, he started brightly enough but rather fell out of the game after that.  I feel he is still best used as a impact sub at this stage of his career.  Knocking in goals for the under 18s will give him both game time and confidence, and he will also get valuable experience being part of the 1st team match day set up with regular appearances as sub.  I would worry that giving him a run in the starting XI might just knock the stuffing out of him.  It is all very well to talk about Rooney (W) and Rashford but they are the exception.  It is far more common to see players burst on the scene as teenagers then drift into obscurity.

Our other strikers may not have set the heather on fire but their strike rate isn't bad.  Having been awarded the goal on Saturday, White now has 3 and Oakley 2, both at a rate of roughly a goal every 2 games.  We'd take that at the end of the season.  We've still not seen a lot of Austin but he strikes me as the more composed and natural finisher and could well be the surprise packet of the season.

It's true we haven't scored many goals overall this season but a part of that is the lack of goals from attacking midfield.  Polworth, Walsh, Doran and Calder have just one goal between them.  Calder's not had much game time but we really need more goals from the others.

But back to young Daniel.  He burst onto the scene last year and as a result I think some people's expectations for him for this season are unreasonable.  He is clearly an extremely promising talent but he is far from the finished article.  He needs nurturing and I think the way the manager is handling him is spot on.

Thank you Doofers Dad,one of the best constructed posts on here that Ive seen.

I thought I was watching different games as most of the other posters all saw it differently than myself.

That in itself is ok as its all about opinions, but I Iike the stats too as they back up opinions , so you have given me my sanity back.

White is a target man, Austin is a trequartista.  I think it's the style of play/tactics that have kept Austin and Calder out.  Oakley might be the utility forward.  Either way, need 15 goals from one and 10 from the other.

So would you take Polworth out to play Austin in that role you suggest?

  11. 27 minutes ago, RiG said:

Because despite those two goals White hasn't nearly been as effective as he was against Dunfermline. Also, for one of those goals he didn't really know much about at all. Indeed he passed up an easier chance a few minutes later. Oakley has a better strike rate this season than White and is a better player overall bringing a lot more to the table than White does. That's not to say White doesn't offer us something but I think Oakley is a more useful all round player and a better fit for the team. He's probably our best striker. Finally, I said if Oakley is fit to start. I'm well aware that he's unlikely to start but if he was then I'd have no issue with him being in the starting XI.

I like Oakley ,rotten he got injured, in fact would really like to see both him and White start in a two up top.

Both players have excellent strike rates this season in league games

Oakley scored 2 goals from 3 starts  (1 goal every 1.5 starts)

White scored 3 goals from 6 starts ( 1 goal every 2 starts)

If they continue these averages both players will be in top five scorers in the championship at end of season.

  12.  Was just saying you cant just throw him in without thinking it through, which is why I suggested the cup game for a start in a two up front.Certainly not dropping White and throwing the young lad in replacement as the lone striker.

    2017/18:   9th / goals for: 10 / goals against:  16 LLDWLLLDD

    2018/19    3rd / goals for: 11 / goals against:  06 WDDWWDDDD

Home games: DDDWD    Away games:  WDWD

So we have taken 47% of the points at home but 67% away.  If you flipped the home/away it'd be a great start, but that away percentage is not sustainable and so what we need to do is win, at home, from 30 October v Dunfermline onwards.

Agree we need to improve our home results , but the points total and placing is much improved from last year at same period.

Thats why I get a bit frustrated with a lot of the negativity on the forum.

Throw him in gotta be brace at some point look at Rashford 17 and scoring in the prem! Whites had a few goals but he's a proper traffic cone up front how bad are our strikers when he's starting ahead of them

really glad you are not the manager with your logic ?

  15. 5 minutes ago, Northern_jaggie said:

Aye but here’s the thing, unless you start him how will you know what is good and bad???

All our opinions are speculative so why not try and get a positive result by trying? We’re not saying start him every game and one start didn’t ruin anyone’s career.

I agree with you ,but in a 442 which I prefer anyway, probably cup game would be the best bet.

  16. 21 minutes ago, RiG said:

Why is that so ridiculous? If Oakley is fit to start next week I'd have no issue with him playing and White on the bench.

    3 reasons.

    1. Why would you bench a striker who has just scored two goals in his last two games?

2 The manager says ,White  is a good platform to work from, and obviously rates him.

    3. A player who has been out for weeks with a serious injury very rarely starts in his first week back in squad.
