  1. I think you're right. I'm just hoping Dougie proves you wrong.
  2. Well, we paid the club record - ?65K - for Rankin, who'd scored 20 goals in 3 years for County. 50k for 5 goals and 5 assists in two seasons may not be too bad.
  3. Markus has the pace we farmed out to Elgin in the form of Zander (an experience which really doesn't seem to have done el Sutherland any good at all if you talk to the Elgin starters) so naturally we'll not keep the young Paatelainen on, and he'll be signed by big bro' for nothing and sold on for a million. Barry - the game-changer - will coach County into the SPL and watch ICT swap places. Imrie will be sidelined and subsequently sold to Livi for tuppence and a babysitting deal when Brew finds out he's not 6' 7" with Kenny-Everett-style elbows :rolleyes02:
  4. I thought the comment was that Graham didn't want to go, but the radio's playing merry **** here so that may be rubbish. You're all used to that :016:
  5. 24, according to the Clyde site. If he plays as a winger that's no disgrace. 5 assists, too.
  6. Not called Keogh, is he? :014:
  7. It's not so long since that they were played in the same role, as a midfield anchor. They were played together, then one, then the other. Whether the player attacks or defends is down to the game and the manager's instructions, but it's pretty clear that people have short memories - and perhaps a bit of bias.
  8. Two-and-a-half seasons, and the reasons why he's missed this half-season are no secret. Can anyone tell me who provides what we look to Duncan for in midfield if Richie leaves? Especially given Russell's recent reversion to type? I rarely get to reserves games these days, but never seeing anyone of a similar kidney on the bench I have to assume we'd be looking to buy a replacement.
  9. Couldn't agree more Alex - they had game-changing options on the bench but in central midfield, the one area where the wheels frequently fall off for us, we'd nowt. Russell could have passed every ball to Burke and still not have been hooked. Why Brewster always seems to think strikers are the key and to pack the bench with them is beyond me - it's like putting in a new drill bit when what you really need to do is switch the bloody power on.
  10. Normally agree with your ratings tcf, but for my money you're light years out on young Markus - thought he played bloody well, especially for one who's only recently back from injury.
  11. Groan! What a pair! :029: Carry on posting :021:
  12. It was the final straw on top of the newspaper articles buckett - can't find them unfortunately, but the thread is still on these boards and other posters corroborated what I'm saying. Anyway, it's over and I've arranged for the Main Stand Toffee Paper Rustling, Knitting, Definitely Not Saying 'Bloody' And Jimmy Shand Promotional Committee to send him hand-crafted cushions to save him the splinters. Let it not be said I bear a grudge :001: I know you can't expect a player joining another club to go about it in sackcloth and ashes, but Alan Morgan's statement reminded me of MB's departure and where that has led so far, i.e. professional obscurity.
  13. There are some ladies well worth a double-take in the main stand, at least. Or maybe I'm just feeling my age :001: You've never had anything to do with porn... at all... in your entire life..? Well, blow me down :014:
  14. Clicky
  15. A print interview shortly after he left, if memory serves. There were direct quotes from it on here - I'll see if I can find the article. EDIT: Can't find the print version(s), but here's a radio clip, the last 30 seconds of which gives you a taste of the attitude: MB came to us having been laid off by Motherwell when we were 'struggling a bit in the first division' and now we're eighth in the SPL, so it's been beneficial to both sides i.e. we gave him a job and he got us promoted. I remember listening to it after reading some of the articles and thinking 'good riddance'.
  16. Agreed. I saw some flashes from him (I can't comment further until the trial) but nothing to make the case for a regular start, and he was dreadful the three times I saw him play for County. Good luck son, but don't try to make out that you've been anything other than fortunate to secure a reprieve from exile to the Blue Star North or whatever. You may remember a lad called Mark Brown, after he left, telling the press what a cracking job he'd done in getting ICT into the SPL and single-handedly keeping them there for a couple of seasons; that lad is now picking green and white splinters out of his erse, and will be doing so for the best years of what could have been his career; and at least he chose to move...
  17. Drove back over the bridge this afternoon - looks like a munitions dump. You sure this is a fireworks display, Don, and not County's revenge? I'm half expecting a declaration of independence from Maggie Paterson tonight :024:
  18. True. According to the build-up, we have a player called Maclean and we lost to Gretna last week. Ah well, Brew, off to polish that Manager of the Month trophy, eh :029:
  19. With that bench I can't see this even going to a replay :007:
  20. I guess there are usually spare seats around there Ian? Might come down from upper B to shout along if it's not raining horizontal. Makes a change from getting a row for saying "bloody" (twice) :rolleyes02:
  21. You mean this one?
  22. He's a top guy, one-man crowd. "WE WANT FIVE!" (when we're losing nil-one) You're not the only one who missed him yesterday - three people around me remarked on his absence.
  23. You mean he's gonna shoot a striker instead of just kidney-punching him? Last Boy Scout eat yer heart out...
  24. How much do I owe you? :004:
  25. Simply not true: wing backs tend to have a defensive midfielder to back-fill for them when the attack gets turned over and the opposition hit on the break. With the purely attacking-holding midfield we play just now you're bound to get caught out now and then. Do you really believe Ross would be doing what he's doing and still getting a start if the manager had told him not to? If you see gaps in defence, you need to target your criticism a bit higher up the food chain, and take a pop at Brew for being too attack-minded... On ye go :016: I've highlighted the important part of my post there. Take Hastings in that game as a prime example. After tearing Gretna's defence a new ersehole, and narrowly missing a goal. He got back in time enough, to be able to pick up who he was marking and be ready for the goal kick to be taken. The same cannot be said for Tokely. He was found out against Aberdeen and he'll be found out in games in the future. Now is the time to drop him to the bench (Note I am not calling for his head) and used as a super sub for Cowie, or used as a centre back. As for Brew, it looks like I'm one of the those people who will have to accept I may have been wrong to criticise his appointment and I have no intention of having a pop at him for encouraging attacking football. It's just a pity he's not spotted this weak point in our team. And I've highlighted the important part of my post there: if Brew's happy to see that gap without a McBain dropping back to fill it, then so be it. He must know fine that Ross isn't going to get back in time, but he lets him carry on and still plays one holder and three attackers in midfield. Or perhaps Brew just has the ludicrous expectation that attacks might end in a goal, a corner, a goal kick or a throw, instead of us throwing everyone upfield and then losing the ball through sloppy passing - because that's what we're really talking about here. Either way, don't blame Ross.
