  1. I like your style Mrs. PB. I may be wrong, but wasn't Richie on the fags until fairly recently? There were certainly folk on the old board and elsewhere suggesting he'd a good old nicotine habit - for all I know he still has. And yes, I am going to come out with "that old chestnut" - tobacco would be illegal today if its use weren't so widespread and deliciously taxable. The hysterical anti-smoking lobby, of which there are many on here if I remember the debate on the smoking ban at the stadium, gave it large about breathing other people's smoke. You don't, however, have to snort anyone else's coke. We're not talking about a performance-enhancing drug, in the way that you might suggest a sprinter or a boxer should be slammed for using steroids or whatever. We're talking about something that gives you a high. Neither the player nor the team gained an advantage (if he used any, had used any in the past or had any intention of using any ever). I'm not saying it's right - it's illegal, end of story - but how is it any different, in sporting terms, to him sparking up in a pub, being caught red-handed and getting fined for breaking that law? The role model thing is frankly a load of pish. I know nobody who's ever done LSD but at least five who took up guitar to be like Hendrix. You emulate the best characteristics of your role models, the achievements - aye, you may be gutted when they turn out to be mortal but that doesn't mean you follow them in whatever downward spiral they take. If anything, if you've any sense of introspection, you think about what took them there and work out how to avoid it yerself (avoiding fame as a guitarist was a breeze for me :001:). Anybody's teenage daughters actively planning to rack up a couple of divorces, two kids, a severe haircut and a lost custody battle in the next few years? Probably not, but there will be a fair few with a Britney album. The club will probably find this a grand chance to remain above opprobium of any sort whilst disposing of a midfielder who never really fit into the returning manager's plans. I've loved watching Richie play over the last season and a half and would like to see ICT give him another go.
  2. Zibi's there to provide competition i.e. a competent replacement to keep the #1 on his toes. If Brew reckons he can fill the gloves - which, one would assume, is why he signed the fella - then maybe a word or two to Mike about better communication with the defence and commanding his area wouldn't go amiss, with the suggestion that he might be reflecting on matters from the bench if he doesn't shape up. I'd hope that word has already been had. Mark Brown, who folk tout as a wonderful mentor for Fraser, was every bit as guilty as Mike of failing to command his box and of relying on a centre half to do the shouting for him; Dods hid that failing as soon as he recognised it; if Brown was the mentor then you can trace the fault back to him, and the keeping coach needs to rectify it sharpish.
  3. I bet that London bus buried in the Arctic ice contained former business rivals of Romanov. Terrible, terrible...

    Don Cowie

You'll recall that his old man was no slouch either - they call the present Don Cowie 'Chip' :021:
  5. Barry looked a yard off the pace this afternoon and I'd have liked to see Morgan on at half time; Blackie's passing was poor in the first half; could Fraser have done better with Arfield's volley? (the commentators thought not). Anyway, sod that, what a brilliant afternoon :021: Should have been 6-1, superb performances almost all round, well worth the win. Can't agree with Brew's post-match comment about our heads not going down when Falkirk scored their first - we definitely went flat for a few minutes - but the belief and confidence came flooding back, something which we've struggled with in recent times after conceding. The best I could do was pick a team of the match. Onward and upward :003:
  6. Were any of the 'Denzil can't really hack it at SPL level' faithful at the game today? If not, please watch the highlights on Monday and post pics of the looks on your faces as you witness a well-taken first but sheer, pure, mouth-watering vintage Wyness for the fourth goal. Watch out, our top goalscorer of all time has his shooting boots back on :clapping03: :clapping03: :clapping03:
  7. Thankyou fd, much appreciated :003:
  8. Beggar mee, you're right :009: Ok, I need a pub with free wireless interweb so we can listen on the laptop (sharing headphones, let it not be said romance is dead). Candidates? :024:
  9. Tell me it's not true? I have to suffer John Lewis after all? :029:
  10. I'd take the advice Buffy, only we're really squeezing this one in and if I get anywhere near an arcade it'll be me last anniversary :001: 'mon the Pars
  11. Can anyone recommend a pub in Aberdeen for the game tomorrow? I've a wedding anniversary bash to attend (mine :023:) but Mrs. 4ize agrees that the football is more important than the opportunity to visit John Lewis, so we're looking for somewhere to watch, preferably near Union Terrace/Street.

    Is That It?

I guess the 'is that it?' sentiment comes from the same dark corner of the imagination which saw us expecting to see Warnock in the dugout. Even without the supposed delays caused by the switch in management we were hardly going to see the finest defenders in the world kicking down the door to sign. I didn't want Brew but he's here and he's brought in what he could. All I can do now is shout ("bollocks!"), and hope we see some decent football :003: Didn't sound too bad today.
  13. I noticed that too :015: Found it quite endearing, which is worrying me. Must not like Brew.... must not like Brew.... :014:
  14. Hear hear. I sincerely hope one or the other emulates Dunfermline in pursuing European competition whilst getting relegated :001: Nah, it's quite nice, in a teeth-grindingly nasty kind of way because of who it is, to see a Scottish club in action in Europe and actually getting somewhere. I hope you do ok (ish)

    Deja Brew

  16. Tapping him up and slagging him off are the answers. In alternating weeks he should be offered a good managerial post (one goal for current club) then slagged off by the fans of the prospective employer (two goals for current club). With hundreds of top-class clubs recognised by FIFA and only a year or so left in CB he'd be guaranteed 57 goals per season for the remainder of his career and we'd win the Champions League at least once. Sorted without any need for the mystical nonsense :003:
  17. both of which Broonie never got sorted: Dods did the shouting. Did we hire two shrinking violets in gloves, or is there some coaching going wrong?

    Deja Brew

I'm sure you are, if you're one of the 'I supported Brewster from the start and I'm now going to laugh at the people who didn't' bams. So, to anyone who falls into that group - if you're a Labour supporter and your candidate wins, do you immediately run around to your Lib Dem neighbour and start laughing at him for accepting that the candidate he wanted isn't going to be representing him, and the one that he didn't want is? Do you take the p!ss out of him because he doesn't embark on a campaign of civil disobedience in protest? Would you call him a traitor because he emigrated rather than live under a government he doesn't agree with? Do you feck (if you do please leave a message for IHE because the mentally ill intrigue him). Yet there are people telling Mee she's not a fan because she's boycotting games, probably the most principled stand of the lot. They seem to find it extremely amusing when folk say 'aye, I don't want Brew, but he's here so let's make the best of a bad job'. These people should get their short pants and white socks out and get back to the bloody playground. This is supposed to be fun, boys and girls, we have a bit of gossip, a bit of banter and yes, a bit of aggro, but cyberspace doesn't mean you have to behave like yer kids on Bebo. Ner ner ner ner ner! :001:
  19. Sheesh, I don't know about you pal, but if I don't like a book I stop reading it - I don't write to the author to tell them it's a pile of crap. Here you are, using the same mechanism that those who don't like the way things have gone use to let off steam, to moan that you don't like the way they've gone about it. Pot... kettle... At the end of the day it's a bit of fun, Hello! meets the News 'n' Screws. Mee and Caley100 are on opposite sides of the fence on this, but do you reckon she's gonna chin the guy next time she sees him? Well, she might if he botches her car :004: Are the board preparing legal action against IHE et. al? Doubt it. <--In a comedy Scouse accent--> Calm down, calm down!

    Deja Brew

You have to get behind someone to stab them in the back :014: Ach well, I'm with kingsmills on this one, not a fan of the man but definitely a fan of the club so I guess it comes to the same thing. Please Brew, no more boring one-dimensional crepe if we can help it (not that we've been treated to a feast at home for quite some time). I know results are paramount just now but, if you get us out of this hole, could we maybe see the team playing with a little style? Like we saw during the first half on Saturday... :019: 'Mon the Caley Jags :021:
