  1. That's precisely the discussion I'm trying to generate....is it appropriate? "Because it's always been done like that" is the kind if thinking that would have us all still living in caves and wiping our erse with leaves. All I see is a lot of assumption that it's a financial decision and that it saves the club money....how many other things do they do/have they done which don't make obvious financial sense? If we can open/use the West Stand every other game because Kindergarten 94 help generate an atmosphere that really helps the players...then does this decision mean we're willing to forego that for some matches? Most attendances for the last few seasons could be accommodated in the main stand, so why are we opening other stands for so many other games?
  2. Pretty sure we don't heat the North stand
  3. I ask because if we're talking a couple of stewards for a couple of hours and a couple of turnstile operators for an hour and a bit of electric, then it's low hundreds of pounds. If that decision causes some people not to attend, and comments in various places suggest this is the case, and/or it further erodes fan affinity, then is it really financially prudent? You can argue that it's ridiculous fans would take that stance, but it doesn't change the fact that they do and it shouldn't be dismissed, especially when every penny is needed. If there are other cost savings and we start getting into larger numbers, then I totally get it.
  4. What are the actual cost savings from closing North Stand?
  5. Apparently players are covered by the PFA if they end up out of contract while injured. We gave him another contract to keep him at the club, so nothing moral or otherwise in the decision.
  6. I'd settle for the club having a single toe in reality right now
  7. I'd hope we had some certainty with Sutherland given the fact we extended his contract after he got a long term injury!
  8. Oakley was on a 2 year deal... how long were we expecting Sutherland to be out?!
  9. Not having Oakley will make no difference at all to how our season plays out. Not because of his ability, but because he wasn't being used. I actually thought he got a bit of a raw deal and was never utilised in a way that we got to see the best if him, and that's probably why HE asked to be released. Good luck to him. Aly Riddle also asked to be released, and good luck to him also. Apparently there are others who have put in transfer requests, so more "mutual consents" to come....we're getting worse that County! Not holding my breath for anything other than cheap/short term and/or loan signings coming in, if any. Especially if the rumour that Directors are directly covering wages is true.
  10. Listening to Dodds press conference and his head's gone. His reaction to Coyle's comments are very bizarre!
  11. Time machines at the ready!!
  12. Agreed. The issues people have with the club right now are way deeper than cost of entry. I've personally never felt so disconnected.
  13. Money's a bit tight this month, so can't justify the £20 for a 4th round tie against a team we've just seen. Keeping it positive....I'll hopefully make the next round
  14. As I said "we'll see", but people getting all excited because he was one of thousands of youngsters to have been in the Man Utd Academy, and because they found highlights from one game where he scored 75% of his season's goals, is just a nonsense. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny how easily ICT fans are appeased. Club heading backwards on and off the park, but hey, we've signed a player who's not kicked a ball professionally for over 6 months, but once played in the Man U Academy, joy to the world, just hand us the title now!
  15. Fortunate draw. We started lively but offered very little after the first 25/30 mins by way of proper threatening balls into the area. Queens Park were much the same for the most part, and the game mostly played out in the middle 50% of the park. If the aim is progression (and it clearly is/should be), then today was a bust. Luckily teams around us didn't take advantage.
  16. Hundreds of players have graduated the Man Utd Academy that have gone on to achieve nothing, and Woods didn't even graduate. He scored 4 goals in one season, 3 of them in one match (he played 29 matches). He's been playing amateur football for the last 6 months. Dodds said we'd only be bringing in players that were better than we had, so we'll see, but I'm not going to be rushing to get the w4nk sock out based on any of the above.
  17. That was kinda my point
  18. Goes to show what a lot have been saying the last few months, and that we are capable of getting results, even with the number of injuries we have. Hopefully the players can carry the momentum into next week and beyond. We need a 15+ point buffer from the relegation/playoff spots at the bottom.
  19. Listening to Dodds, it doesn't sound like the CEO is offering any money to strengthen in this window. Can't offer what we don't have, I guess. A couple of young loan players to develop instead of developing our own is the most we can 'hope' for it seems.
  20. I thought the reason they stopped working with Andy was because they now employed a video analyst to do it?
  21. Why, oh why, have we gone back to using the pixelot camera?
  22. Apathy is a protest the club will not quickly recover from!
  23. If it was just struggles on the park, then I'd be right there with you! My worry is that if we allow deeply ingrained problems, with team and club management, to be swept under the carpet every time there's a good result then we will just keep spiralling. That isn't to say we shouldn't have hope, and I'm definitely not calling for booing of players, but Dodds, Robertson, Gardiner, Morrison etc. need to be held to account as they have delivered NOTHING, not even close, to anything they said they would. Quite the opposite in fact. That's not grounds for optimism.
