Ross County will apply to the Scottish Premier League for permission to ground share with Inverness Caley Thistle, if they win promotion.

But the Dingwall club are confident that Victoria Park will meet SPL criteria before the start of next term.

SPL rules state that all stadia must ready for the top flight by 31 March.

And County chairman Roy McGregor told BBC Scotland: "The agreement with Caley Thistle to rent their ground is a safety net."

  • no problem with them groundsharing ..... we would not have got into the SPL if it wasnt for Aberdeen agreeing to it and we should be amenable to returning the favour to another team .... even County !

By all accounts, work at VP should have been completed last night and C*unty will be sending in a safety cert request by midweek. So no extra income from ground share for us

This really has been the most boring non-story of the year!

There NEVER WAS any chance of Ross County having to play at the Caledonian Stadium. The only reason the issue arose at all was that due to the now familiar plethora of "SPL rules", Ross County had to lodge with the SPL by 31st March, by which time they hadn't yet won the First Division and their own stadium obviously wasn't compliant, the name of a ground that trhey would play at in the event of their own not having become compliant by the start of the season.

But there was never any chance of that happening - this was simply a vastly over publicised and equally misunderstood case of Ross County having to jump through an SPL hoop.

By the way, County's single "home" pre season friendly against Coventry City on July 18th will not take place at Victoria Park (which WILL be ready by August 4th) - but at Grant Street Park Inverness.

There's an unused ground in Glasgow they could use. I understand the owners would welcome a bit of rent money.

Ironically, if Sevco Rangers are in the SFL after the voting takes place, County would not have been be able to share there as the legitimate SPL side would not have first refusal/control over their own home fixture dates ..... !!!
