Inverness CT 1-1 Hamilton - Report

Points abegging after Accies Red

Another vital match in the fight for SPL survival.
Caley Thistle missed a chance to take three points but the result did push them up a place to ninth.
Four points still separate them from bottom club Falkirk with three games left.
Hamilton played the final 25 minutes with ten men after James McArthur was shown a straight red card but they managed to hold on for a draw and could even have stolen it in the closing minutes.
ICTChris: Disappointing not to take all three points - thought we had the most chances but as usual this season we didn't manage to finish things off in the oppositions box. It was a terribly frustrating game, especially towards the end as we didn't manage to deliver a decent final ball or made stupid mistakes. Looking back we really, really should have won that game - they had to take off two of their centre backs, they had a man sent off and we went a goal up!
Foran had a very good game - he is so strong in the air and gives us a real outlet. Along with his workrate he's probably our most effective player up front and I'd keep him in there until the end of the season. Fantastic finish for the goal as well. I thought Brian Kerr did well in the middle, tidying things up well enough. Imrie looked quiet, as he always does against the Accies. At the back, we were reasonably solid but it's poor to lose a goal to a corner. Djebi-Zadi is absolutely abysmal. He is fast erasing the memories of his decent showings against the Old Firm with his terrible performances like today. His showing was summed up when he gave the ball away after a 60 yard run forward, nearly resulting in a goal for Offiong.
In the overall picture of things, we are matching Falkirk's results, which is what we need to do to stay up. However, we had a great opportunity to go six clear with only three matches left and not to take it could prove very costly.

Referee Charlie Richmond Attendance 3623 Man of the Match Sponsor's: Richie Foran Radio Scotland: Richie Foran Filipe Morais came back from injury into the home side at the expense of Andy Barrowman but injuries cost Richard Hastings and Russell Duncan squad places.
‘Man of the Match’ Richie Foran headed just wide in the second minute and the same player tested Hamilton ‘keeper Tomas Cerny with a bouncing shot in 19 minutes. The home side were well on top and before half time Cerny made excellent saves from Lionel Djebi-Zadi and Morais.
The breakthrough came two minutes after the interval when a long Mike Fraser kick-out was flicked on by Dougie Imrie and Morais before Foran volleyed home from ten yards. Hamilton came back into it and in 62 minutes Fraser pushed a Richard Offiong header for a corner – the kick led to a Martin Canning header which just went over the line despite the best efforts of Ian Black and Foran.
McArthur’s red card came just after the goal for a late tackle on Morais. Barrowman came on to augment the home strike force with ten minutes left as Caley Thistle sought to take advantage of their overall superiority but Offiong had a glorious chance at the other end. He was one-on-one with Fraser but could only hit wide. There was still time for one more chance for the home side when Imrie volleyed for goal but Cerny pushed it round the post.
A welcome point but it should have been three. Meh!
Final word from tm4tj:
Once again we were the better team but once again we failed to beast our bitches. If we had the points that they do over us, they would be all but relegated just now. Imrie needs to realise it's a team game, he wasted numerous opportunities by choosing the wrong option. Foran worked his socks off again and scored a peach of a volley, unfortunately I couldn't celebrate properly as I was in the middle of my half time coffee. He won 90% of all balls knocked towards him, great leader of the line display. Could Fraser have done better with the looped header leading up to the goal? My initial reaction was he could have held it, thus averting the corner which preceded the goal. Offiong did miss a great chance to steal the points, but Imrie could not force the winner although he did manage to get this one on target, but Cerny was equal to it. Proctor, Zadi, McBain, Imrie will need to think again, as they offered little to trouble the Accies, who seemed to wake up once they were down to ten men.
Mystifying refereeing decisions once again spoil the spectacle, but the real problem is our inability to punish teams when we are in the ascendency. Lionel tried single handedly to throw the game towards Accies, although the wee fellow, Assamoah was a handful. I am convinced he was fouling Lionel by getting underneath and nudging him every challenge and the ref kept penalising Lionel. Overall we should have strolled it after opening the scoring, but Accies are nothing if not stubborn and once again they thwarted us and stole a point which could have been undeservedly all three but for Offiongs miss.
Because of this, we now have two tricky away games followed by what could be a last day decider against a resurgent Falkirk. Squeaky bums at the ready.

Boardroom Banter - Issue 04

Teaser Paragraph:
{xtypo_dropcap}W{/xtypo_dropcap}elcome to the April 2009 issue of Boardroom Banter, the monthly* report direct from club officials to you the fans. In this month's issue we have some follow up to questions that arose from previous issues as well as answers to some new questions posed by fans for this issue.
As we move to the latter stages of the season, we encourage fans to keep the questions coming. There have been a lot of great questions asked in the first four issues and we hope the next four (and beyond) will keep this momentum going.
*Before going any further, we would like to apologise that the 'monthly' report did not actually appear last month. This was due to a 'perfect storm' of bad timing all round. Submission to the club from CTO (Scotty) was slightly late and then key personnel at the club involved with providing the answers to the questions were not available as it has been a busy time with SPL meetings etc. Added to that, the club representative who collates all the information (Kenny) was then off to the USA for Big Les' stag-do and you can see that pinning it down was not easy. We will endeavour to avoid these 'storms' in the future !!!!
{slide=Item 01: Follow up from previous issues}
{tab=5% Levy} birdog: In issue 2 the club gave the quoted reply to a question concerning the 5% levy by the OF on the tickets they sell to their fans.
QUOTE: “The reasoning behind the acceptance of the 5% levy was fully explained on the evening of the AGM. For those that were not in attendance the explanation is as follows. We as a Club could sell the away end tickets at no surcharge but in doing so accept full responsibility for the behavior and actions of the travelling support. For the Old Firm matches this is something that we as a Club are not willing to do and whilst we do not agree with the implementation of a surcharge and have made our protestations on this at the highest level it is something that we unfortunately must accept as the risks of doing otherwise are not acceptable to us as a Club. We are not a lone voice on this subject as many of the other SPL Clubs objected strongly to it but as we stated the consequences of not accepting it far out way the benefits. Should this % levy continue to be imposed in the future then we will review our position as and when it is discussed.”
Could the club clarify if they passed the minimum amount of 5% of ground capacity to an OF club for them to sell, would the OF club be responsible for all of their fans in the stadium?
If so could ICT then sell the balance of the South stand tickets via the stadium or online retailers thereby removing some income from a rival club and keeping it in the ICT account whilst retaining the benefit of the away team being responsible for the behaviour of their support.
Club Response: We have covered this issue previously and fully explained the reasoning behind our reluctant support for the 5% levy. However to clarify this point there is not a 5% ground capacity minimum and responsibility for fans at SPL games is fully explained on the Club Website----go to “Club”, “Codes of Practice” + “SPL Rules”.
{tab=Club Shop} ajsict92: Does the club have any plans to get a bigger club shop? Possibly in the town.
Club Response: Following our very brief connection with the Zoo outlet in the Eastgate Centre it is not our intention at this time to open up a larger shop in the City Centre but we are looking at relocation of the existing unit to within the confines of the Stadium and having a complete revamp of the retail unit as it exists. Regarding this initiative we are currently in discussion with the Supporters Trust re some form of joint fundraising to assist with this project.
{tab=Strips}Renegade: ICT have said that they favour a predominantly white away shirt for next season. Why?
Club Response: Again as we have stated previously we ask everybody involved on the Footballing and Commercial side of the Club what their preferences are and they have stated that wanted to go down the route of a predominately white strip.
{tab=Link Ups}Kirishima: Nowadays, many clubs have affiliated teams. (similar to cities being twinned) Is ICT interested in doing this, for example in the Far East, or N.America etc to maximise marketing potential? (Manchester City are affiliated with Shanghai Shenuha for example)
Renegade: In the previous issue, it was said that the ICT/Sheffield United link still exists, what kind of things go on between the two clubs?
Club Response: As we have mentioned previously we do still have close contacts with Sheffield Utd. Our ex Chairman and Major Shareholder (David Sutherland) is a personal friend of the Sheffield Utd Chairman and the opportunity for our Managers to utilize this contact is still in existence if and when it is required. We have no affiliation with any Clubs outside the UK but it is something both the Manager and Director of Football will look into. We do have contacts through our Youth and Community department with teams in Australia and it is hoped that we will soon be having some young Australian players over on trial at Youth level.
{/tabs}{/slide}
{slide=Item 02: Broadcasting}Comment/question from Supporters: Renegade: In an earlier edition of BB, the club said that broadcasting of the live game, highlights etc was not financially possible at this point. Well I had a look at all the official sites of every SPL team and it seems that the most offer some sort of highlights/live commentary package of some kind. The typical bigger teams (Old Firm, Aberdeen, Hearts etc.) offer a package but the most impressive package came from Falkirk. They offer live commentary, highlights and even live video coverage of every home SPL game for overseas supporters. I couldn’t believe the last bit when I saw it. The Falkirk package (for overseas fans) was £4.99 a month or £53.99 a year and I'm guessing that the financial income for ICT and Falkirk is fairly similar. Most of the other club's packages were roughly the same price. Would ICT consider setting this up, even for a fee of around that price? I for one would be willing to pay. If this is not possible, and as ICT hold the rights to all their games (I believe), could they offer highlights through something like an official ICTFC YouTube page? Even something small like every goal would be very good.
Club Response: We will look at this again and if we can find some way of providing this type of service and it was to prove financially beneficial as well as providing a service to our fan base then we would consider it.{/slide}
{slide=Item 03: FlyBe}Comment/question from Supporters: Dewsburydude: A new query. Is there anything the board can do to influence the sponsors Flybe, to make the flights to and from Inverness on match day/day after at more fan friendly times. I have been looking at taking myself and family up to some home games but it would mean an overnight stay, and more expense. The flight from Manchester leaving at 08:55 is fine but there is nothing back until 17.05 on Sunday evening meaning not getting home until after 11pm. Bit late for kids going to school next day. I am sure that many more fans from down here in England would make the effort to travel up to games if there was a return flight on Saturday evening. I would definitely attend more games, myself and with family, at TCS rather than only going to away games. Don’t suppose there could be a discounted admission price for fans that fly to games by Flybe?
Club Response: Unfortunately we cannot influence the flying schedules of our sponsor Flybe, as much as we would like to make travel to and from games as easy as possible for our fans based south of the border.{/slide}
{slide=Item 04: Events}Comment/question from Supporters: Murdock: The Elton John concert showed the potential of the stadium to host non-footballing events. Are there any plans to capitalise on this revenue stream with similar concerts in the off season this year?
Club Response: We have considered this as a revenue stream for the Club hence the reason we set up our events Team. They have been investigating a similar event to the Elton John Concert and had hoped to have something this year but due to limited timescales and the financial situation, where Concerts and Gigs are being canceled due to lack of ticket sales we decided to park this one up for this year but are actively pursuing an event or events week end for next year if we can attract the correct caliber of artists, which we are positive we can, as we are currently in discussions with various promoters throughout the UK..{/slide}
{slide=Item 05: Season Tickets}Comment/question from Supporters: Tug: have the club given any consideration to a "loyalty bonus" where by a season ticket holder could get a discount for early renewal or could perhaps get free cup games the following season if they renew?
Club Response: As soon as we know the future regarding our league status for next season it is our intention to review our ticketing policies and will update date you as soon as possible.{/slide}
{slide=Item 06: Stadium}Comment/question from Supporters: RossP: Has the club ditched plans to build a gym/bar complex at the back of the North Stand, which was muted a year or so ago? Seemed fairly well thought out and quite far into the planning stage when first mentioned by the club... but nothing since.
Club Response: With all things at the Club we must balance our expenditure versus the potential income stream from any proposed venture where capital outlay is concerned. Unfortunately this idea will be remaining in the pending tray certainly in the short term as we do not considered it to be a viable proposition in the current financial climate.{/slide}
{slide=Item 07: The Cup}Comment/question from Supporters: caleyrule: If ICT beat Falkirk in the next round of the cup and get to Hampden for the semis and also the case if we got into the final at hampden would ICT be willing to put on buses for fans to get to Hampden (or even charge a small fee per person to get as many ICT fans to Hampden as possible).
Club Response: Unfortunately events have overtaken this question.{/slide}
{slide=Item 08: Miscellaneous}
{tab=New Manager} Birdog: Terry Butcher would not have been by first choice as a replacement for Craig Brewster. Early indications however, are that the Butcher/Malpas combination will prove to be a very wise choice, and I just wonder how the appointment came to be made. Did TB contact the club, or did the club contact TB? If the club did decide to sound out TB on the managerial vacancy, who's idea was it?"
Club Response: As you will be aware as a Club we had numerous applications for the Managerial posts and in the end the Board thought the most beneficial appointment was the Terry and Maurice combination.
{tab=Popescu}Renegade: It has recently come out on CTO that Romanian legend Popescu offered ICT the chance to visit his football academy and potentially sign the best players at it. Why was this offer refused?
Club Response: When we signed Marius we had various links with numerous sources in Romania some of which were followed up and some were not.
{/tabs} {/slide}
There were some other questions submitted within Board Room Banter but as per our agreement with Scotty and Donald we will not be replying to any issues that name individuals nor will we be commenting on any ongoing issues regarding the Marius situation. We look forward to your continued support as we enter a crucial period for the Club. Under the stewardship of Terry and Maurice and with your backing we are positive the players will rise to the occasion as we enter the final stretch of this season.
Editor's Note: Despite the extended period between this issue of BB and the last one, we once again want to thank Kenny, Graeme and other ICT staff for taking the time to provide these answers. We look forward to the next set of questions as they are sure to be very interesting during this time where our SPL future is very much in the balance.
Please keep the questions coming, whether they are new questions, or whether they are follow-ups to questions asked in this or previous articles.
Questions can be submitted on the CaleyThistleOnline Forum at this LINK or via email to the address [email protected]

St Mirren 1-2 Inverness CT - Report

Vital win at the Alamo

A vital win for the Caley Jags today and who better to get the winner against the Buddies, Ross Tokely.
Following an early goalmouth scramble Inverness were awarded a goal as Captain Grant Munro was adjudged to have been the last ICT player to have made contact before the ball crossed the line. Goal for Grantie!
Inverness seemed to be in control but what should have been an easily defended ball in from St Mirren saw Hamilton score the equaliser on 70 minutes.
The Caley Jags continued to battle though and Ross Tokely was the man who secured the victory for ICT with a late goal to bring all 3 points back to the Highlands and maintain our 4 point gap on bottom of the table Falkirk.
overview from tm4tj:
We should have blown them away just after half time when Imrie made his own personal assault on the Mirrren goals, having about six shots in five minutes, unfortunately all off target. Lionel possibly caught out for their goal, but otherwise he had a decent game. Rossco scoring the winner in Paisley. You can't write stuff like that, the big man was magnificent, great in defence and scored the winner against his beloved buddies fans, brilliant. Good craic in the stands, well done to all for creating a noise. I thought Foran had a good game and Imrie back to his best being a nuisance player. Roy was on a man marking mission, hardly kicked the ball, but snuffed out his opponent well. Fraser did what he had to do. All in all, great day out and worth the cheap tickets just to see Rossco get the winner.

Referee S Conroy Attendance 4171 Man of the Match Ross Tokely From site:
Roscoe is an absolute LEGEND.
Wan every ball in defence, countless times he outjumped 'jimmy' Hamilton (feckin annoying tannoyman who didn't acknowledge the Caley Jags scorers) and kept everything under control.
Then he pops up and scores THE best goal ever completely out of the blue, a fantastic reaction from the fans and the players. One of the GREAT goals to witness first-hand.
Probably the best performance for months, although we didn't really control the game at any point (maybe for the first ten minutes of the second half) we showed the bottle and never-say-die attitude that we need. Roscoe simply epitomises everything good about ICT, especially today. Must be sore for midden fans, Tokely scoring a late winner.
Black was superb, Foran was tireless, Imrie was immense down the wing and Mikey was flawless. These three points may be the biggest in the clubs history.
Also, barrowman being ten times better than Rooney isn't as laughable as you might think, he did well when he was on the pitch, and although Rooney was given the thankless task of lone striker he didn't impress.
once again, TOKELY IS VICTORIOUS
And here he is our analyst, Alt Maryhill:

Fantastic day yesterday. Some of the football was a wee bit patchy, but the fighting spirit of the players was unbelievable. This is exactly what we hoped Butcher would be able to provide, and he's done it brilliantly. When I was sitting at Fir Park in December, almost reluctant to applaud our last minute penalty because the performance had been so bad, it felt like the club would never have days like yesterday again. Yesterday was ICT Pele-style, in attitude if not in footballing ethos.
From a footballing point of view, what's interesting is the selection dilemma Butcher had created for himself. Tokely was excellent at centre half, as apparently he was against Hamilton, so does Pav come back in next week? If Morais is fit again next week, does he come in and if so who does he replace, given that he can play either up front or wide? I was interested to see some praise for the Barrowman/Foran combination from other who had been at the game. I'm glad to see Foran up front and Imrie wide at last, but again Barrowman looked like he doesn't quite have the pace to play as a striker in a team that is playing on the counter-attack. That's not to criticise his effort: I thought he really put a shift in yesterday, passed intelligently and linked play well when he dropped deep, but unfortunately, dropping deep meant he couldn't get back into the box in time to make himself available for the ball again.
Lastly, although it's been said plenty of times already, our support was out of this world. All the boys that led the singing should be proud of themselves - kept it up for the whole 90 minutes and didn't let anyone sink into apathy after the St Mirren equaliser. I'm sure the support played a big part in keeping the players going, and it would be brilliant if it was a good in all the remaining fixtures. Probably the greatest moment was not at the game itself, but getting off the train at Glasgow Central: the boys sang all the way down the platform and through the station, and as myself, Caley Stan and our mates went down toward the Argyle St exit, all we could hear was the whole place echoing to chants of "ROSSCO, ROSSCO". Legendary stuff

Inverness CT 1-1 Hamilton - Report

Points shared

Hamilton hadn't scored in the SPL for 9 1/2 hours, they ended that run 17 minutes into this game when James Gibson put them ahead with his first goal of the season.
Filipe Morais had the best chance for the home side in a tepid first half ICT performance when he got a chance just before the break but his lob went agonisingly over the bar.
ICT were better in the second half and this time it was Hamilton who paid the price. They time-wasted and sat back for much of the half and three minutes from the end Brian Kerr scored his first for the club from a Tokely ball meaning the points were shared.
from site:  We were simply dreadful today and didn't deserve anything from the game.
The ref was incompetent at best and Hamilton started time wasting in the first half but that doesn't excuse the p**h we were served up
Questions have to be asked over Butchers selection of players. I doubt even clueless Craig could have come up with such a bizarre notion as playing Duncan on the right!!!! Mind boggling really and surprise, surprise it didn't work.
Black, Esson & Tokley are about the only players who can hold their heads high after that display. I thought Imrie, Proctor, Morais & especially Foran were rank rotten.
The end of the season can't come soon enough for me as I can't stomach watching c**p like that week in week out.

Referee C Boyle Attendance 3646 Man of the Match Ian Black (sponsors), Martin Canning (bbc) from site:
Its more of a point gained as we didn't look like we were capable of scoring in the second half.
The Kerr goal was scrappy but hugely important and the first time in months I felt like hugging everyone around me.
Although we played badly in the first we were unlucky not to win looking back over the whole game. We had Blackies shot just over, Morais through on goal and Dougie missing a sitter in the 2nd. Hamilton had their free-kick (which should have been defended better) and one chance on the edge of our box saved by the impressive Esson.
Saw the importance of Roscoe in todays match. When the fans were quiet the only man you could hear shouting on the park was Tokely, telling everyone else to pick up their game. He showed passion and commitment, give that man the armband.
Could turn out to be a BIG point. Hamilton are another team who has a strange hold over us, maybe because of their disgraceful tactics, so a point was a good result. Now we have 5 games left, if we win 2 of those we are safe.
and finally tm4tj was not happy:
Utter utter garbage by us, in fact in the first half we were outplayed by Accies and they deserved to be one up. They scored from a free kick off the training ground, missing out the shot and the cross ball, but playing it wide on the deck and a simple rifle into the bottom of the net found us wanting. Morais should have equalised but had all home supporters crushing their brains as he lofted an easy chance over the bar.
Well. Butcher must have said something in the dressing room. He kept them in for ages, in fact, we wondered if he was going to let them out to play in the second half. The paint must have been dripping off the walls for we saw a different ICT in the second half. Not fantastic, but at least we were trying to attack. Now, I can't help thinking that Terry must shoulder the blame for the first half performance, because we were superior to Accies in the second half and deservedly equalised, albeit a slightly deflected shot from Kerr, which eluded the outstretched Cerny. Still, our second half endeavour merited this but despite Accies persistent time wasting and the added five or six minutes we could not force a winner.
Overall.........a very disappointing first half which saw us give Accies the upper hand, but an improved second half which gave us little comfort, considering the garbage which went before it although we deserved the point.
I believe we will hear Terry come out with the usual fantastic PR we know he has in his repertoire, but to be honest Terry, what the fans want to see on the park is a bit of flair and some goals and some passion, otherwise, we might as well be watching a Brewster selected team and tactical implosion.

Inverness CT v Hamilton Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
The relegation battle continues at Inverness this weekend when this seasons SPL fresher’s Hamilton call back to the Tulloch Stadium to continue the fight to avoid the drop into oblivion...well the first division at least.
The prospect of visiting trendy, up market places like Greenock, Airdrie and Dingwall should be sufficient to encourage any SPL strugglers to up their game and miss out on these little gems of Scottish culture. However, Inverness having stuttered their way off of the bottom of the table, are now in the thick of a five team scrap for survival.
Visitors Hamilton have also been pegged back and it is not inconceivable that we could jump a couple of places by the end of the weekend if results go our way, providing we can secure our first win of the season over a stubborn Hamilton side.

INVERNESS CT v HAMILTON
Tulloch Caledonian Stadium
Saturday 18th April, 3:00pm
The first game of the season saw Hamilton leave Inverness with a 0-1 victory courtesy of a fresh air swipe by the unfortunate Jamie Duff, which allowed Richard Offiong to make a bee line for the goals and slot home the winner.
The return fixture at New Douglas Park played out in a gale and hail storm saw Hamilton win by the same score line, with Simon Mensing scoring from the penalty spot. This was a rather dour affair with the weather causing havoc and only the reduced admission prices and hospitality in the pre match boozer softened the blow.
The renowned Highland hospitality has not been reciprocated though for this game, but a decent crowd is expected for what could prove to be a pivotal six pointer in the relegation stakes.
SEASON SO FAR
Hamilton started the season well with victories at home against Dundee United and at Inverness, whilst Caley Thistle undid the good work at Pittodrie by losing to Accies and St Mirren at home. Both teams suffered some indifferent form with Accies low point being the 7-1 trouncing by Rangers in December. Our low point was the humiliating first half score line at the same venue as Rangers hit five by tea-break.
Inverness meanwhile were warming to freefall mode since September, only winning three SPL games out of the next sixteen. It was now time for Mr Butcher to take over at the helm and try to stop the rot, as we were now adrift at the foot of the table. Hamilton at this point had been on a tremendous run since the drubbing at Ibrox which saw them win seven of their next nine games. This included a cup win in the quaint hamlet of Dingwall and also a run of five games where they never conceded a goal.
All good things come to an end though, and Hamilton are now struggling to buy a win this last month. But, the coming of Terry and Mo has seen Inverness claw back the deficit and overhaul Falkirk to give us a chance of SPL football next year.
So here we are, Inverness this weekend and another six pointer awaits us with five teams battling it out and the bottom six decided by Sunday. Yes it’s squeaky bum time, but it sure beats the hell out of shopping, and the bottom six games will all be meaningful ones this season.
TEAM NEWS
Inverness CT: Terry was none too pleased with his defence at Pittodrie and has promised to kick some ass before this game, so we will have to wait and see who survives the cull. Definitely out for ICT are Odhiambo and Byrne. Foran and Mihadjuks required some treatment earlier this week but both are in better shape now and should be ready for selection.
Hamilton: Rumour has it that Offiong will miss this one and Cerny and Neil are both struggling for Accies. David Elebert, Trent McClenahan, Brian Easton, Mark Corcoran are also added worries for Billy Reid, although he is hopeful one or two of these will be available.
ONES TO WATCH
Inverness CT: Lionel Djebi-Zadi. The man of mystery could prove to be influential in some capacity. It depends which side of the fan club you are on, but big Lionel has been described by some in many different ways. He is nothing short of entertaining. The home crowd doesn’t know what to expect from Lionel, and if it’s any help, I’m not sure he does either. Bombscare or bombastic, liability or ability, hideous or genius, or just an accident waiting to happen. He gets it all but Terry Butcher has shown faith in Lionel since he came here and his strength, speed and aerial presence could play a big factor in this one as we aim to keep a clean sheet, something we have not done often enough this season. He can also add a bit of weight to our attack with some rampaging runs down the flank and his crossing is more effective than his predecessor. Let’s hope he keeps us on the edge of our seats for all the right reasons.
Hamilton: Simon Mensing is built like a brick outhouse. He will be 27 this June and was born in Wolfenbuttel, Germany. He is a powerful player who scored the winner against us last time out from the spot. Good in the air and strong in the tackle. Simon joined Accies from Motherwell in January 2008 having previously played for Clyde and St Johnstone. He will be one to keep tabs on at set pieces and he is always willing to help the strikers around the box and is not shot shy. He has scored a handful of goals this season. His aggressive style has also been noticed by the referees, and he was sent off in a reserve match which extended his current suspension, but he should be back for this one. He would be most likely to take any penalty offered to Hamilton.
THEMANN4THEJOB's PREDICTION
The relegation battle could go right to the wire, but a win for either club will certainly ease the pressure a little. This may well be decided by a single strike again, but I am going for ICT to blow the cobwebs away, roll back the years, and win comfortably. I will also predict that caley100 will call McCarthy a ***** and the Immortal Howden Ender will be singing till the cows come home in his kilt.

Aberdeen 1-0 Inverness CT - Report

Caley Thistle fans were in a confident mood travelling to Aberdeen for todays fixture having secured a deserved victory over St Mirren at home last week.
ICTFC have only ever beaten Aberdeen once, and that was on the opening day of the season, however there's never much between the teams and it was only a late goal by McDonald that separated them this afternoon.
Inverness dominated early on in the game, but it wasn't long before Aberdeen were dictating the pace and putting on the pressure.  On another day we might have made more of the squandered chances, but it wasn't to be and all focus is now on next weeks home fixture against relegation rivals, Hamilton.
*yawn* looks like rig was less than impressed
Another game to add to the list of dull Aberdeen / ICT "derbies" settled by the odd goal in Aberdeens favour. Thought we had a lot of the ball in the first half but struggled to create anything really clear cut. Morais and Imrie were wasteful with the ball at their feet all too often picking the wrong option. Aberdeen had a decent chance when Millers header was palmed away by Esson.
In the second half we were very poor. Continuously picked the wrong pass at the crucial moment and were much more sloppy in defence allowing Aberdeen to come into the game more and more and eventually they got their goal. No idea what happened as I was looking at my phone but looked up in time to see Esson stand as the ball looped over his head. Rather muted celebrations by the Aberdeen fans showed how little there was to get excited in what was a very poor game.
From an ICT point of view, Morais and Imrie didn't seem to click up front, Djebi Zadi had some last gasp tackles that saved a goal, Esson seemed somewhat shaky and Munro and McMajiks seemed a bit off colour also. Thought Kerr had a good game again for us in the middle of the park. I was worried about Well and HIbs fans talking of his lack of bite but he seems to be showing plenty of enthusiasm for us. At the end of the day it was just one to forget really.

I was so depressed by that on Saturday that I've left it until now to put in my tuppence worth. We were awful, the 2nd half was embarrassingly bad. We could have played for a fortnight and not broken down an Aberdeen side that was there for the taking. They were 1 free kick and 1 header better, that's all. The goal was nothing to do with Esson, it was Grantie's fault (again)
There needs to be a major cull in the summer, and we need to spend some serious money. Therein could lie a problem....
and:
Decent battling first half with little sign of a goal but Aberdeen were very nervous and there for the taking.
Started the second half really well and pinned them back for 10 mins but after that we were never in the game.
I'm sure we will stay up though, this was an away game at a team who are supposed to be after 3rd place. It's up to TB to get us a bit of creativity in midfield before the new season starts - don't fancy watching that sort of tripe every week.

Inverness CT 2-1 St Mirren - Report

Morais Double Earns Valuable Points

With 5 teams battling for safety at the lower end of the table todays match-up between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Mirren was another in a string of proverbial 6 pointers.
Things didn't look like going to plan when the ball bounced off the legs of Djebi-Zadi and landed perfectly at the feet of Dorman who put the visitors ahead after only 7 minutes.
However, 5 minutes before the break and a great move saw a long ball forward to Proctor who flicked it on to Imrie who flicked it on again to tee up Filipe Morais who drove the ball home from 20 yards.
2 minutes after the re-start and Morais was on the scoresheet again.  A quick throw setting up the opportunity which was put away with clever ball into the bottom left corner from 17 yards out.
tm4tj summed up:
Good win, two cracking goals from Morais and an excellent shift from Foran and Imrie, who did the usual 110%, but wasted some good possesion when his final ball let him down. He also had a netbound chip cleared off the six yard box with the keeper stranded. Tokely was also brilliant today, and his wing wizardy was scintillating. We were well on top after scoring our second goal but ended up sitting deeper and deeper as Mirren pushed forward. Gameplan worked in the end but left the fans a bit uncomfortable at the death. Barrowman was left chasing hopeless punts at the end as a lone striker. He does win his fair share in the air, but with no one to assist him it was a waste of time literally. Three points and further away from relegation. Still 21 points to play for, but top six is not achievable now.

Alternative Maryhill saw it like this:
Up north for a rare home game. Glad I came up now, but I wouldn't have said that if you'd asked me at half three.
The first half hour was absolutely dreadful. We didn't keep the ball on the deck at all: it was more of the same aimless punting from Granty and Lionel that we saw at Falkirk, with the midfield being bypassed and nothing sticking up front. Admittedly the wind was pretty bad and it was quite wet at that point, but St Mirren still managed to knock it about quite well and deserved their lead. I didn't see exactly what happened in the build-up, but the ball across the box definitely came from Lionel's area, and the scorer (was it Dorman?) was in so much much space he'd have had time to pour a pint of Guinness before sticking it in the net. The defence looked pretty uncertain right through that first period, Fraser included. Think Mikey must have been wearing clowns shoes: his kicking was atrocious.
Toward the end of the first half, though we did start trying to play it on the ground and down the wings, and it made a huge difference. Morais took his goal really well - first time on the half-volley I think - and we had a couple more dangerous moves before half time. We started the second half in the same vein and looked completely different team from the one that had started the match. Morais' movement was really good and he had some great touches, although not all of them came off and he went down too easily a couple of times. Great second goal, though - made space for himself on the edge of the area and stuck it in at the near post. Imrie worked his @rse off, chasing everything down and taking on and beating players - easily my MotM. If we stay up, he deserves a lot of credit for it. Thought Kerr put in a very good shift in the second half too.
The last 20-25 minutes were pretty poor again. Very strange sub by Butcher - replacing Morais with Barrowman. Fair enough, Morais might have been knackered, but I would have stuck on Odhiambo, replacing like with like, because the St Mirren defenders really struggled to cope with the movement of Morais and Imrie together. As soon as Barrowman came on, all the pace went out of the attack. I can't fault Barrowman's effort today (for a change), but he wasn't even reaching the ball to hold it up or reaching the box in time to meet balls coming in from wide. After Imrie was replaced by Duff it was a bit backs-to-the-wall, because there wasn't enough pace left in the team to hold the ball up. There was one sublime moment, though, just around the time the additional time board went up, when Rosscoe absolutely sprinted after the ball to take it into the corner at the bridge end, and got flattened by a frustrated defender. He picked himself up and gave the home supporters this grin of total triumph. Legend.
Great feeling to be up to 9th now, and hopefully the players and management will realise from this performance that we are at our most effective and dangerous when we try to play proper passing football and we play with two fast, skilful front men.
