Inverness CT 4-0 Annan Athletic - CIS League Cup

CIS Romp

After the trauma and suffering at our first attempt to dump lower league opposition at Caledonian Stadium, I don’t think there was a single person in the ground this afternoon that thought we’d have an easy time of it.
The handful of Annan supporters seemed more up for it than the dreary home support and, after our poor showing against Montrose the week before, who could blame them?
Those few home fans that did make it and were also present at the mid-week friendly against Dundee United might have had cause for some optimism after seeing a better performance, especially in the first half, against the SPL outfit.

Referee A Muir Attendance 1095 Man of the Match Dougie Imrie The starting line-up for ICT revealed half a dozen changes, some forced through injury and others, well, ‘rested’. Maybe TB was looking for more fight from his troops after all they have had a gruelling pre-season in far away places!! We line up like this:
Allison,Tokely, Bulvitis, Munro, Djebi-Zadi, Cox, Eagle, Stratford, Rooney, Sanchez, Imrie. Keeping the bench warm were Ross, McBain, Esson, Sutherland and Shinnie.
It appeared we started with a familiar 4-4-2, as favoured by TB, but this soon descended into its usual system of no-particular-shape-lets-by-pass-the-mid-field. We started brightly enough and had Annan on the back foot early doors and their 11 man defence seemed to hold strong. When Annan did get the ball out they never seemed to past the half-way mark. However, our defence was, I believe, caught napping and we could have fallen behind on around 15 mins but Allison was alert enough to pluck the ball out of the sky. Although we had most of the possession we lacked that cutting edge in front of goal and we really should be seeing teams like Annan off by half-time.
Our pressure did tell in the end though as the ball came out to Imrie, who was running his socks off all night, and he swung in a cross from the right for Rooney to head past the flapping arms of the Annan ‘keeper. This was in the 21st min and the relief could be heard above the sweetie rustling.
We’d have thought the goal would now see Annan come out more and try to get back in the game which they did, in a way, as their 11 man defence became 10! We still kept pressing to put the game to bed before half time but the shot shy strike force didn’t create many hairy moments for the Annan ‘keeper as most of the efforts on goal when wide or high of target. Imrie was putting himself about and picked up an unnecessary booking for a lunge about five minutes from the break. The challenge was reckless and, as the Annan guy was going nowhere, totally unnecessary.
There was a lengthy stoppage shortly before the break when an Annan defender (Muirhead?) went down injured in the box after an ICT free-kick and he took no further part in the game.
HT: 1-0
No changes were made after the break by ICT as we attempted to regain some kind of 4-4-2 shape. Again we started the brighter of the two sides and could have extended the lead soon after the kick off when a lob by Imrie almost caught the Annan ‘keeper still in the dressing room. Imrie was not to be out done though because, with about 8 mins gone in the second half, he swung in another cross and Eagle was on the end of it to give him his first ICT goal and the team a 2-0 cushion.
At this stage in the match the ICT support could have been forgiven that we were going to see this one off in 90 mins and not have to put up with extra time and penalties. But is certain in our games these days.
Eagle could have made it 3-0 not long after as chased a loose ball but unfortunately for him and ICT the Annan ‘keeper was quicker out of the traps.
For most of the game Imrie looked like he was on a mission to single handedly destroy Annan. He was running all over the place, sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right. Very often he got into some good positions but his greed had the better of him on most occasions. He earlier booking didn’t seem to curb his enthusiasm which was good to see. He got his goal with about 15 mins to go when he smashed the ball into the roof of the net when it broke to him after a goal mouth scramble.
Only now were the home supporters confident that there wouldn’t be a repeat of the Montrose affair.
Soon after the 3rd goal, Rooney was replaced by youngster Sutherland and a wee while later Imrie (my Man of the Match) was replaced by young Shinnie. The two sets of fresh legs had ten minutes to impress and it was Sutherland who shone through as he set up Sanchez for the fourth goal with about two minutes left.
FT: 4-0
There were 1095 witnesses to Annan’s destruction.
This was far better display from ICT than the Montrose showing and this potential banana skin was put to bed fairly comfortably. However, the display wasn’t one of crisp, clean, free flowing football, far from it. We still had this tendency to hoof the ball up the park and by-pass the mid-field. We do not seem to know how to hold the ball up and it is treated like a hot potato at times. There are many new faces in the side and it will take time for them all to gel into some kind of ‘system’ but I wonder if we (the supporters) will have the patience to wait for this moment. 4-0 sounds like a drubbing but it could have been a whole lot more.
tm4tj added:  Very comfortable win for ICT. Started brightly but twittered around in front of goal. Not sure what enabled Rooney to score. He headed weakly downward and we all assumed the keeper would block the ball, but it ended up in the net. Eagle scored with a free header after Imrie laid it on a plate. Imrie thumped home from two yards after a decent move down the left wing. Sanchez scored with a cool finish, prodding the ball past the keeper with the outside of the foot. Annans only attempt was just before half time when the aforementioned player collided with the keeper. He won the ball and knocked it a couple of feet over the bar but the keepers momentum carried him into the player and he was stretchered off, but later announced he was ok to travel home after the game. Annan to be honest were not at the races and we should have punished them more severely, however 4-0 is better than last week.
Rossco was good today, involved in most moves, Lionel got the biggest cheer when he backheeled the ball over his own head after a hasty pass went speeding past him at the touchline. Man of the match for me was Cox, he is as solid as they come and has a real determined look on his face when he goes in for the kill. He certainly won't be shirking any challenges.
Butcher was noisy all game screaming instructions at his players. All in all, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
 tm4tj also observed: As noted in the player of the year poll, it has not gone unnoticed that Lee Cox is quickly endearing himself to the ICT fans. I thought some of his forward passing was first class, spraying balls wide to Imrie and Tokely on more than just a few occasions. He is very determined in the tackle, a born ball winner and will make Ian Black seem like a pansy and just a distant memory. My only reserved judgement of him was he might have taken a dig or two from the edge of the box, but elected to try and play someone in. Still, top player for us this season and player of the year award beckons.
Rossco must have run him very close for MotM as well. He looked rejuvenated with his thrusting runs and wing wizardy and showboating going down a treat. He seemed to be enjoying every minute of it as well, grinning from ear to ear as he waltzed past the entire Annan defence (well it seemed like it) and backheeled the ball round the inrushing player, real Roy of the Rovers stuff.........or Alf Tupper if you like your bread buttered that way.
Imrie was good also, but the final ball selection sometimes ruined his creative play. He is getting good at hitting the byeline and cutting back for the midfielders to have a crack, and he took one volley early almost catching the keeper out with that one as it looped a couple of yards wide. Bright start by Imrie but he along with the rest of the team went quiet before half time. Dougie was the inspiration in our first half display against United recently and as we altered the flow of the game with mass substitutions we lost our attacking outlet and the game once he had departed the scene. Couple of good assists and a goal can't be bad though. He was booked for a rash challenge as well which was a bit needless and could have been costly had he lunged in more forcefully in the second half, he did however survive.

Inverness CT -V- Annan Athletic - Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
First round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup sees Scotland’s latest senior club Annan Athletic make their first visit to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in over ten years.
Annan have made steady progress since joining the Scottish League set up in August 2008 when they beat Cowdenbeath 4-1 in their first league match. Sounds familiar with ICT winning their first league match 5-2 against Arbroath thanks to a Hercher hat-trick.
Annan are war babies, being founded in 1942 and have yo yo’d back and fore to the English football set up when in their first season 1952-53 they won all but one competition they entered in the Carlisle and District League and the Cumberland Football Association. They remained within this set up until 1977 when they came back over Hadrians Wall to play in the South of Scotland League. They were very successful in this league and then moved on to the East of Scotland Leagues to further their ambitions. Being one of the top clubs in this league, they qualified to play in the Scottish Cup on numerous occasions and when the demise of Gretna became reality, they were voted in to the Third division in July 2008 where they ply their trade at the moment, finishing a creditable seventh, only six points adrift of a play off spot and a positive goal difference of plus eleven, the third best in the division. Annan play their home games at Galabank which has a capacity of 3500 of which 500 are seated. They are known as the Black and Golds, which is the normal home colours of their striped tops. Their best victory to date was a six nil trouncing of Elgin City in March. Cast your mind back to the 24th of January 1998 when you will vaguely remember Inverness recording their highest ever senior victory when they defeated Annan 8-1 in the cup. Both clubs have moved on from then and nobody will be expecting a goals deluge today. For Inverness, new signings Bulvitis and Sanchez are expected to play and look out for the lively Robert Eagles and Lee Cox, who both played well in the friendly defeat to Dundee United. Stratford and Hayes are both in the squad for todays game although Foran and Barrowman may miss out due to injuries. Imrie picked up a strain in midweek and Eric is still ruled out. Annan have new signings Jonny Jamieson and Gary Redpath in their squad which looks like this:- Cox, Gilfillan, Hoolickin, Inglis, Jack, Jamieson, Jardine, MacBeth, Muirhead, Neilson, Redpath, L Sloan, S Sloan, Steele, Storey, Summersgill, Townsley, Watson.
Midfielder Jacko has two goals to his name already and might be one to keep an eye on. Look out for this song ringing round the Stadium today, but not for our Lee, it’s for David Cox the Annan forward
There's only one David Cox he gets his tan from a box with his bleached blonde hair and Brazilian flair we're walking in a Coxy wonderland TM4TJ prediction After last weeks dour struggle to see off Montrose, the only prediction I am willing to make this week is a win, eventually, for a shot shy ICT.

Inverness CT 1-1 Montrose - Alba Challenge Cup (5-3pens)

Alba Struggle

A bit of a hard start ot the season as Caley Thistle were held to a 1-1 draw by Montrose.
The visitors were expected to be easy pickings but it didn't happen that way in a game that still had a pre-season feel about it. The Caley Thistle goal, right on the stroke of half-time was listed as an own goal for Crighton but Roy McBain can be credited, if not with the goal, at least with an assist. Montrose got the equaliser 3 minutes from time through Jordan Leydon.
Extra time beckoned and with neither side able to score in the additional 30, it went to penalties. ICT scored all 5 of theirs but Montrose had missed one earlier so ICT go through

ICT have not quite reached the heights of their cup exploits of previous years since being promoted to the SPL. Perhaps now with being back in the 2nd tier of Scottish football the boys in red and blue could find the form in the Scottish Football Leagues hard-fought trophy, the Alba Challenge Cup. When winning the 1st division back in 2004, the club won the same tournament in its stride, beating Airdrieonians 2-0 to add to the growing trophy cabinet. Montrose on the other hand have tasted little success in recent years, although under the leadership of Steven Tweed have quietly been building a youthful team expected to finish in the top half, if not the play-offs, of the 3rd division this season. With the season just starting all the pre-season questions could now be answered. How will the new look team perform? Will they be up to the task? Will Lionel ever score that 50 yard overhead volley? For most it was just about being back at the football on a Saturday afternoon.
The home line-up was almost recognisable, with only 3 new boys starting: Stratford at right-back, Cox in central midfield and Hayes out wide-left. Robert Eagles, Butcher's only other pre-season signing, was deemed not quite fit enough to feature. Nick Ross also started in his first ever competitive game for the club, at the age of 17. Montrose fielded a strong line-up, with Gemmell leading the line and Coutts (a promising youngster recently signed on a 2 year deal from Motherwell) protecting the Gable Endies goal, as well as fans favourite Chris Hegarty marshalling the back four. The answers to those pre-season questions in order were sluggishly, quite possibly and definitely not.
Playing in glorious sunshine, ICT pressed from the start but couldn’t pass their way through a staunch Montrose defence. The link between the strikers and midfield was lacking, and the hard work in ball retention by the players was wasted when it reached the Montrose end. As early as the 12th minute there was a penalty shout for ICT and Richie Foran, with Montrose defender Alan Campbell going in heavily on the striker. However the referee signalled for a corner, much to the disappointment of the ICT support. Montrose also had reason to be unhappy with the officials, Voigt having the perfect opportunity to open the scoring only for the linesman to flag for offside. Andy Barrowman then threatened Coutts in the away goal with an attempted lob dropping short of beating the young keeper, and headed efforts from Foran and Barrowman were too weak to find the net. There was plenty of industry by the young away side in forcing the home side to play long passes up to Foran, and the tactics employed by Steven Tweed seemed to be working. Montrose had couple of sharp breakaways with most ended with the lack of pace available up front. Nearing the end of the first half it looked increasingly like it would finish 0-0. There was more bad news for the home team, Jonny Hayes taking a knock to his ankle and limping off to be replaced by Roy McBain on 38 minutes. However the home team took the lead on the stroke of half-time, a good move out wide on the left ended with Roy McBain cracking the ball towards goal from a tight angle, with the ball being deflected in by Crichton, the Montrose defender.
Half Time 1-0
The team went in at half time on a high and came back out with the aim of scoring the second killer goal. They pressed from the start but the high balls were being dealt with well by the strong Gable Endies. Montrose had their opportunities to break, with Nicoll being booked for diving and John Gemmell heading just wide. When the ICT players forced their way through they just couldn’t find the final killer touch. However they were beginning to show a little more enthusiasm for the occasion. In an attempt to spark life into Inverness attacks the gaffer Butcher brought Rooney into the fray, replacing Barrowman with the 6 foot 2 Irish hitman. However his introduction did not force any immediate reaction from the home side, with no-one managing to threaten the oppositions goalkeeper for the next half hour. Duncan flashed a shot straight into Coutts arms with 7 minutes left to play, and Ross Tokely had a header looping just over the top of the bar: it only looked like a matter of time before one attempt would cross the away sides goal-line. Butcher then took off Foran on the 86th minute mark and replaced him with Hastings, a move engineered towards defending the teams slim lead. However as Inverness pressed, a ball played over the top of a static defence and towards attacking youngster Leydon caused confusion in the defence, with the young midfielder nipping in to flick the ball over the top of Ryan Esson. The home side looked stunned by the goal with 3 minutes remaining, and could do nothing to prevent the tie going to extra-time.
Ninety Minutes 1-1
During the next 30 minutes ICT huffed and puffed, but couldn’t resist playing that final ball to prevent any meaningful attack ending in that decisive goal. Shots from outside of the area fired wide by Mcbain and Duncan did nothing to help the anxiety amongst the home crowd. Rooney went close near the end of the 30 minutes, an acrobatic overhead kick palmed away by the impressive Coutts. Montrose seemed happy to flood the midfield and sit back, soaking up any pressure. It was a gameplan that worked to perfection during the 120 minutes of action, Steven Tweed's men finishing off the only clear opportunity to force the game to penalties. The industry and hard work of many of the Montrose youngsters shone in comparison to the lacklustre and stodgy Caley side that seemed a mile away from full match sharpness.
aet 1-1
In the end, it was a set of 5 flawless penalties from the home side that forced the tie in their favour. Rooney, Tokely, the captain Munro, Duncan and Djebi-zadi scoring for Inverness, while Ryan Esson saved well from Hegarty. Davidson, Crighton and Gemmell all dispatched their penalties for the Gable Endies, but in the end it proved fruitless. For many the final whistle and the final penalty was the highlight of the match, although Lionel’s celebratory dance certainly forced some entertainment into a poor showing from the 1st division side. The home gathering left grateful to have snatched victory from their surprisingly tough 3rd division opponents, while the small but vocal away support left with heads held high. Montrose put up an admirable fight but a ring rusty ICT eventually forced their way to the end of the match and into the next round for a home tie against Stranraer.

Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Preview

Teaser Paragraph:
Caley Jaggies v Gable Endies New season, new club structure, new teams, new venues, new competitions, new players, new away strip and new hope for the ICT fans. The season kicks off earlier this year as relegation sees Inverness entering the Alba Challenge Cup and hosting Montrose in the first round at Tulloch Stadium, well most of it as part of the stadium will remain closed, with only the main stand being open. ICT are no strangers to this competition having won the Challenge Cup trophy in November 2003 after defeating Airdrieonians 2-0 at Perth thanks to late strikes from Steve Hislop and David Bingham. Today’s visitors Montrose have not been here since the Stadium was converted to all seating and the last time we entertained the Gable Endies was 5th April 1997 in a Third Division game where ICT won 3-2. The Gable Endies, now where did they get that unusual nickname I hear you ask? Apparently 'Gable-Endie' is the nickname given to a citizen of Montrose. The term originated because the early buildings had their gable-ends facing the High Street. How odd. Today’s team line up from Inverness is anybodies guess as the trialists and new signings were put through their paces in recent friendlies. Coupled with ongoing injuries and possible suspensions Butcher will be the only person who knows what the starting eleven will be. New additions Robert Eagles and Johnny Hayes could feature along with Danny Stratford and Lee Cox. Latvian defender Nauris Bulvitis is also expected to get a start. Ongoing injuries to Imrie, Odhiambo, and Proctor may see them miss out, although Butcher will wait to see how they are before making any decisions. For Montrose, manager Steven Tweed has a new look squad to choose from with eleven summer signings including John Gemmell and Alan Campbell. Gemmell scored fourteen times last season for Cowdenbeath with four of those goals coming against Montrose. He was also voted the Cowdenbeath Player of the Year. Alan Campbell was recently released by junior outfit Carnoustie Panmure. TM4TJ prediction Should be a comfortable day out for ICT, but with the new squad needing time to gel, we may have to be patient before overcoming Montrose who will be out to cause an upset. No room for complacency and the lack of goal grabbers will be a hindrance to us although my prediction will see Inverness come out on top by a couple

Boardroom Banter - Issue 05

Teaser Paragraph:
{xtypo_dropcap}W{/xtypo_dropcap}elcome to the June 2009 issue of Boardroom Banter, our regular report direct from club officials to you the fans. In this month's issue we have some follow up to questions that arose from previous issues as well as answers to some new questions posed by fans for this issue.
Some of the questions posed in this month's issue were submitted before the end of the season, some after so there are a mixture of pre and post relegation issues covered.
 {slide=Item 01: Follow up from previous issues}{tab=Catering} Teaandpies: Why don’t the board look at working with local businesses by sourcing their catering from the Inverness area?  The food is terrible. Imagine catering from Harry Gows?
Club Response: We are unsure what “catering” you are referring to but if you forward an e-mail to Mike Smith at the Stadium we will look in to your complaint.
Old Caley Girl: Please ask this and also if the catering is still under contract could they work with the firm at improving the service for fans.
Club Response: The catering is under contract but we do not control the stock or where our partner sources his catering supplies. We have looked at the severy areas and do intend some form of improvement to the existing systems on match days.
{tab=Disabled View} Caley100: Further to the issue of improving the view of games for our wheelchair user fans, I notice that there is still no change or any signs of improvement! Any positive news?
Club Response: Following various meetings with all the concerned parties it is proposed to introduce a new area for our disabled supporters in front of the main stand this season thus solving any previous issues that may have arisen due to restricted views etc. We trust this new arrangement will allow all fans in the ground to enjoy this year’s matches.
{tab=Strips} Jay_7: Whatever happened to having a competition for the design of the new away shirt?
Club Response: Unfortunately we did not get round to this on this occasion but will endeavour to do so next time round. This year’s strip has been chosen and will be released shortly. We thank all contributors to strip design on the fans web site and think that the choice of strip bears a distinct resemblance to one or two put forward by the fans.{/tabs}{/slide}
{slide=Item 02: The Future}Comment/question from Supporters:
Martinskye: Presuming by the time this question is discussed we are safe, What aims for ICT does the board hope to complete in the future, say 5 years time? Possibly in terms of league position, stature and in terms of home crowd/fan base.
Club Response: Unfortunately Martin events have somewhat overtaken your question, but our aim, as with any football club in our position is to try and match our income with our cost curve and as you will appreciate this will not be easy next season. It is our intention to provide the management Team with as much financial backing as we can, to facilitate as swift a return to top flight football whilst trying to ensure we live with our financial constraints which we are sure you will appreciate are far more strenuous in the 1st Division.
Cal234ey: What steps will the club be taking to ensure we are financially sound in the years to come? And how do they aim to make a swift return to the SPL?
Club Response: As stated above we do not intend to forget the prudence of previous years as we strive to bring SPL football back to Inverness. We are still one of the few Football Clubs without any debt, a position we will strive to maintain in the future.
Scotty: What Now? - We have heard rumours of severe cutbacks in several areas of the club, and some of these have manifested in public such as the release of players we might have expected to see at TCS next season, so my question is "What now?". Can the club give a "state of the union" type address that perhaps goes into a little more detail about what we have had to do to adjust to life in division 1. EG. trimming the squad, releasing youth players, consolidating backroom positions.
Club Response: Statements from the Club detailing our current strategy and staffing plans have been well publicised on the official web site, fans web site and the local and national press. It is our intention to continue this open dialogue with the fans as we are fully aware that keeping you abreast of what is happening, as and when the time is right, is very important, but trust you understand that there are some things that cannot be published or discussed in open forum, due to confidentiality issues.
Scotty: Various newspapers immediately after relegation quoted the chairman and others saying they would do everything to get us back up at the first attempt. The season ticket package is also using the "bounce back" scenario in its advertising. Can the club elaborate on these plans as current events (releasing players, Grassa in the papers saying there is no money to spend etc) seems to be diametrically opposed to the chairman's stated intent.
Club Response: We do not think there was a contradiction between what the Chairman and Director of football have stated in the press, and trust that our latest releases from the Club will go some way to explaining our position as we move forward this season. We have, obviously, a vastly reduced income stream this season and unfortunately must cut our cloth to suit this predicament. With regard to the season tickets, we have tried to pitch the price to suit both the ambitions of the Club and our Supporters and thank the fans for what has to date been an excellent response to our ticket sales.{/slide}
{slide=Item 03: Player Sponsorship}Comment/question from Supporters:
Alex MacLeod: In the past if a person sponsored the kit of a player they would be given, at the end of the season, that piece of kit signed by the sponsored player. Someone, in their wisdom, has now decided that the sponsor should, instead, receive a 'unique branded memento'. Do those who make such decisions not realise that most of us who partake in the sponsor scheme do not want a club branded memento, that we can probably purchase anyway, but a memento directly linked to the player we sponsor. Is there such a great saving in not giving the sponsor the piece of kit or do the club feel that the saving far outweighs the risk of losing regular sponsors?
Club Response: All shirt sponsors received a signed replica shirt and sponsors of other kit received a memento. We had excellent feedback from both the fans and the players in response to our sponsor’s night and renewal rates for this season have been excellent. We encourage everyone to continue with their excellent support as it much appreciated.{/slide}
{slide=Item 04: Terracing?}Comment/question from Supporters:
Birdog: Any chance of ripping out those stupid seats so that we can have a wee bit of atmosphere back?
Club Response: There will be no material changes to the stands by way of “ripping out seats” as they would be a very costly item to replace when we return to the SPL. This would make no sense at all given the level of expense that the Club has gone to.
Scotty: One positive of the first division is the possibility of a return of the terracing as this is allowed outside the SPL. Can the club confirm if the west area of the ground will be used as terracing in the 09/10 season.
Club Response: Whilst we understand the fans desire to utilise the West area of the ground as a terracing area we do not intend to go down this route at this time. {/slide}
{slide=Item 05: Museum}Comment/question from Supporters:
CaleyD: Whatever happened to the idea for a club museum? Also, it would be nice if the club could be a little more forthcoming with information. Not only in areas where questions have been asked, but perhaps in regards to other things which might be happening that the club could be sharing information on....is this possible/likely?
Club Response: The idea for a Club Museum was mooted and whilst it would be a nice to have A) we are really short of space at the Stadium as it is and B) we certainly do not have the financial input for something like this at the moment, but it is something we will bear in mind for the future. With regard to release of information all the official statements etc that come out of the Club are under normal circumstances posted on the Official Club Website and in the local press. {/slide}
{slide=Item 06: Sky Sports}Comment/question from Supporters:
Zoid: Can someone at the club please contact Sky Sports and provide them with up to date pictures of our 1st team squad as well as their place of birth, age, preferred playing position etc? Reason being is if you go to Sky Sports Score Centre on a Saturday and click on line up of ICTFC and then click on a player, for example Richard Hastings you are confronted by an image of Russell Duncan or, worse still, if you click on Grant Munro an image of Stuart Golabek. Not really a major issue I know but I feel it project a more professional image if this information was correct.
Club Response: We have contacted Sky Sports to get them to update our players and thank you for bringing this to our attention. {/slide}
{slide=Item 07: Flags}Comment/question from Supporters:
Renegade: A couple of months back ICT was in the news for removing a Palestine flag due to its "political" and "offensive" connotations. Would ICT take the same action if it were an Israeli flag? What about the Union and Northern Ireland flags carried by Rangers supported and the Irish Republic flags carried by Celtic supporters, both of which have political objectives. Would the club act the same way towards other flags that have a political motive such as Catalonia, Tibet, Basque Country etc?
Club Response: As stated on numerous occasions we as Club do not condone any form of politics or sectarianism being brought in to football. We ask that this type of behavior and form of protest be kept out of football. {/slide}
{slide=Item 08:Youth}Comment/question from Supporters:
Roscoe23: Why are they letting the best young talent we've ever had at the club go so easily?
Club Response: All issues regarding team selection and players we keep or sign are decisions taken by the Management Team / Director of Football and are not influenced by other members of the Board. {/slide}
{slide=Item 09: Butcher's Banter?}Comment/question from Supporters:
Renegade: Could we ever have a one off "Butcher's Banter"?
Club Response: We will put this request to Terry and Maurice to see whether or not they would be willing to contribute to such a proposal. {/slide}
{slide=Item 10:Attendances}Comment/question from Supporters:
Lizi: When attending Away games, the amount of our travelling fans was often announced, usually just after the total crowd number was given (maybe to cause embarrassment?). Can arrangements be made for the amount of travelling fans attending at our Stadium to be announced - this is obviously counted from gate entries? Shouldn't be difficult and would be appreciated. Will be interesting, indeed! Especially when Annan come calling in the CIS Cup.
Club Response: We are not exactly sure why this information is relevant but it is not our intention to announce away fans numbers attending our Stadium as we are unaware of this happening at other grounds. {/slide}

 Please keep the questions coming, whether they are new questions, or whether they are follow-ups to questions asked in this or previous articles.

Stadium Open Evening

Teaser Paragraph:
Terry's open invitation to fans
Terry Butcher is offering fans a sneak pre-season preview of how Caley Thistle train plus a guided tour of the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.
Next Friday -- July 17 -- the club and its Supporters Trust are jointly staging an Open Night from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
"It's a great idea and fans will be able to watch us having a training session then there will be an opportunity for photographs and autographs of the players, explains Butcher."We hope to see as many supporters as possible for what will be a fun family evening. It's another way of connecting with the community -- and, after all, we want the fans to be our 'extra player' as we push to regain our SPL place."
Darren Mackintosh, the club's commercial manager, said:"There is genuine enthusiasm among the fans for our SFL campaign, season tickets have been selling strongly, and we're delighted to link up with the Supporters Trust to launch this Open Night initiative.
"Terry will be rigged to a microphone so he can chat to the fans from the pitch during the training session, explaining what's happening while injecting some humour into things.
"Fans can also have guided tours  and see the dressing rooms, the manager's office, the boardroom and hospitality suites and get a flavour of what goes on behind the scenes. There's no charge for the Open Night -- everyone's welcome.
"Those who haven't yet got season tickets can do so on the evening as the ticket office will be open with full details of our popular new easy-payments scheme."
Supporters Trust board member Laura Grant said:"We're very pleased at this chance for people to gain insight in to how the players train and then meet the lads afterwards  --it's a nice touch to bring team and fans closer together.
"We're working with the club on the event and on the evening we'll have a display to unveil new initiatives we're working on in support of the club and to publicise what the Trust does."
This first home 'fixture' of the campaign will be an open-gates event, with no tickets or pre-booking required. Just turn up -- and see your favourites being put through their paces.

New Kingsmills Club

Teaser Paragraph:
Caley Jags aim to be hospitality hotshots
Inverness Caledonian Thistle hope to be top of the hospitality league with an innovative and affordable approach to the matchday hospitality market. In their push for a rapid return to the SPL, the club has revamped its matchday hospitality offers to put the accent on greater value for money. The Kingsmills Suite has been rebranded as the ‘Kingsmills Club’ where season ticket holders can take our membership for £250 to cover all 18 First Division home matches.  This gains them access before and after the game plus complimentary parking pass, matchday programmes, team lines, half time savouries and hot drinks. Club members can access a cash bar and buy hot food. Betting facilities and large plasma screens showing live sport are also available. Commercial manager Darren Mackintosh said:"In a difficult economic climate, we consider The ‘Kingsmills Club’ membership a real bargain for individuals and companies alike. "There will be a limited number of season memberships with a further limited day memberships available on a game to game basis at £45 and £35 a time. Over five hours' access in the Kingsmills Club on matchdays represents exceptional value." Caley Thistle have also converted their Boardroom to become the new Miller Lounge for matchday dining for five tables of eight people, including sponsors' guests. "This exclusive dining opportunity is restricted to 40 people per game, allowing higher quality of product and service, and we anticipate strong demand", said Mr Mackintosh. "This choice of club membership at one venue while raising the bar in dining distinction at another gives customers excellent options", he added. "The combination of opportunities will raise the matchday hospitality experience at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium while offering greater affordability. "The income from corporate hospitality is important to the football budget as Terry Butcher bids to win the First Division championship."
