  1. Past hour
  2. It's all on Tuchel. The England players gave everything but he handed the initiative to Argentina after taking the lead. Contrast that to Spain on Tuesday who took the lead and then proceeded to control the game. England had shackled Messi well for an hour but then with no out ball and everyone camped around the England box he, and others, had time and space. The outcome was inevitable from then on. As BC said the England players tired late on too which didn't help. The game was won and lost by the substitutions from both teams. Still, that's that, I've always been a club before country man, so the important football can start now!
  3. Today
  4. I don’t think England were totally outplayed culduthel, they were 50-50 for 65 minutes but were found wanting in the last 20-25 mins. It was in Englands tool box to grasp a place in the final however they came unstuck (for me) for the following reasons:- Tactics - Tuchel tried to ‘shut up shop’ by substituting flair / speed for bulk. Players - England top players went ‘missing’ in this period. Ie they were either too exhausted or mentally drained to take the game onto /into the Argentina half. Easy to say/ see with hindsight but England just came short at the very top level of football. I feel if Tuchel had brought on Rashford and Watkins instead of Burns O Reilly then the outcome could have been different. Ie Argentina would had to deal with running attackers and that would have released the pressure on the defence. Three great goals, a intense & somewhat ‘in your face’ and absorbing match, with the presence of a once in a lifetime truly world class player, then with the atmosphere you have a contest unparalleled in any other sport. Best team won on the night. England just short of what was required to get over the line. bc
  5. I wouldn't say totally outplayed, but I would need to caveat that into a ' before we scored' and 'after we scored'. Before we scored it was pretty even, but after we scored and went super defensive, protecting the penalty box we handed the initiative to Argentina. You can't defend like that for 30+ minutes and expect to not concede. Tuchel took a risk with his tactics and substitutions, and f#cked it up, in the same way he took some risks with his squad selection and that didn't work out (selecting Mainoo and Jordan Henderson over Adam Wharton for instance, and no real back up for Reece James) We weren't great during the tournament, but we got to the Semi's and might have gone the whole way with a bit more courage. But to suggest England is a 'last 32 or at best last 16' team, is just not proven especially given our record over umpteen tournaments. Which given our resources is not that surprising....but anyway I can't be arsed to watch the final since I am away in the Midlands for the T20 cricket finals day, but hope Spain win. As for the 3rd place play-off, who will watch that? France (who should have been in the Final, but for their own nightmare game) will beat England probably through a JP Mateta goal.

  9. England totally outplayed by a talented Argentinian team. Could have been 5-1 to Argentina if England had not been so lucky in defence. Proves they were basically a last 32 or at best a last 16 team. Would have been criminal to see them in the final. Should be a great final on the weekend.
  10. Yesterday
  11. What about the crest? Is that "stuck on" , "embroidered on" or part of the fabric as well?
  12. Expectations: On the evidence presented in pre season and against East Fife, for me, we will struggle against some quality teams in the Championship. Anything above 9th is fine by me. Dreams: We will click into gear and smash the league and win all the cup competitions. [Then I woke up].
  13. A clean sheet at last. 😃
  14. Last week
  15. And that’s how they finished.
  16. Jake Rodgers must have gone on loan to Brora. He came off the bench in their League Cup game against Aberdeen tonight.
  17. Half times in tonight’s games: East Fife 2-0 Morton Linlithgow 0-2 St Johnstone
  18. A late addition to our pre-season saw us take to the field at Grantown-on-Spey in our much maligned away strip. Main talking points lifted off X. 10' | 0-1 GOAL! Shae Keogh opens the scoring after finishing a great cross from Luis Longstaff. 21' | 0-2 GOAL! Adam Mackinnon finishes on the edge of the box from an Archie Kerr cross. 31' | 0-3 GOAL! Trialist 14's cross is headed in by Hamzad Kargbo from close range. 35' | 0-4 GOAL! Morgan Bates scores from the penalty spot to make it 4-0! HALF TIME: 0-4 59' | 0-5 GOAL! T14's corner finds Morgan Bates in the box! 65' | 0-5 Ellis Leighton and Sam Thompson ➡️ James Clark and Morgan Bates off. 75' | 0-6 GOAL! Sam Thompson makes it 6-0 with a great strike from just outside the box. 76' | 0-6 ICTFC Sub: Kenzie Harkness ➡️ Luis Longstaff off . FULL TIME: 0-6
  19. We are reported to be on the verge of signing last seasons Highland League top scorer Miller Keir from Turriff United for £30K
  20. Maybe a 'superhero' that's more local? She has made a bob or two in Hollywood, and will hopefully be set for life for income from appearances at ComiCon or similar etc after both Dr Who, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers appearances, not to mention Jumanji and the forthcoming Highlander remake. She likely has a few friends in the business with pots of cash (The Rock? Dave Bautista? Jack Black? Henry Cavill?) and more importantly seems to value her Scottish and Highland roots and is a big supporter of Mikeys Line as well.... ... and she likes football VideoPresskaren-gillan-leads-scotland-celebrations-after-world-cup-...Hollywood actress Karen Gillan was filmed singing and dancing with Scotland fans after their World Cup win over Haiti - her celebration video was viewed over 4.8 million times online.
  21. Just bought the away kit (and assuming the home one will be sized the same), I'd recommend treating it like you would Erreà, by going a size, maybe two, up. And, like the Erreà kits, the sponsor is actually part of the fabric, so you won't need to worry about anything getting sticky and ruined by the wash That said, the new shop looks really nice and theres a load of room to move around now, rather than having to squeeze past each other. Only downside is there's only one fitting room, so you could be waiting a while if you are also indecisive on whether to go one size up or two.
  22. I agree and understand the consolidation point. I know most supporters don’t give a toss, however I will add we also need a succession plan in place ie 3 and 5 year framework. If we are to limit or mitigate catastrophic cliff edges (of past yore), then this subject should be on the Boards agenda. If they act like the past and think that’s for the next Owner and CEO, then we’ve learned ZIP. On field activities and success or failure run hand in hand with the off field ones. AS has and is doing his bit (within the limits of the budget (+ emergency pot)) he has set himself. A two or three year run in the CHPS would better the club’s position for better outside investment. Avoiding relegation this season must be the priority. Anything else could put us back more than I care to consider. Just putting it out there as I feel it’s relevant. bc
  23. For me, this season is about staying in the Championship, so I see anything better than 8th as a bonus. We’ve a tough start, playing the three teams that made the play offs last season, and could easily find ourselves at the wrong end of the table. It’s hard to know what teams will be strong, but if we can finish above two of Morton, Queens Park and Stenhousemuir, we will have maintained our place in the Championship. Let’s all go into the season with realistic expectations and knowing that it’s going to be hard.
  24. finishing anywhere above 9th will do for me. Would prefer it to be comfortably above 9th, but consolidation this season is the key.
  25. Last season the fantastic start to the season set up the promotion. As the new boys in the division I'd say the other teams will look at ICT thinking there are points to be gained there. It's even more vital then to get a good start to nip that attitude in the bud. Promoted teams that get a poor start don't tend to have a good season overall. It's really hard to judge what would be expected - look at Arbroath last season in their first season compared to RC who came into the championship from the other direction. Both probably had different expectations than what transpired. If things go well we could be in the top half, perhaps even close to the playoffs. In reality I'd expect a mid table finish, but mid table for 10 teams can get you close to both top and bottom at various points. I'd say 5-7 would be what I'd expect come May. To me I think we need to look firstly at establishing a gap above two other teams (Morton & Stenny?) and then building from there. The first three games are pretty tough ones before we visit Stenny, so I hope we have 4 or 5 points on the board by then. Set the tone early for a decent, but not spectacular, season.
  26. Good subject and post Luddite, The timing is right as whilst predictions about how ICT would/ could get on the CHPS when we won promotion was in full swing, we had no idea what the player pool would really be come August. I’ve not seen any match so far but the posts back from those that did indicate we are a bit away from being at the level required to compete (and importantly win) in the CHPS. Have we enough quality to replace or improve the player level from last season ? - Far too early to say however I still expect a couple of players to come through the door. Personally I believe we will be tested a lot more defensively, and whilst the goalie and back four will do the heavy lifting here, strikers and the midfield cannot go missing in this task. Kells role in how we get on will be important. He has had 20 odd months under his belt now and gained enough experience to take the players he has to come up with the best tactics and game plan to get results, (ideally a few draws away and victories at home). Ultimately I’m optimistic we can secure ourselves in the ‘middle-pack’ knowing promotion ain’t going to happen, but get results that keep the threatened two or three relegate teams 4 - 6 points below us. A good season 26-27 season for me is fifth (think it’s possible). A poor one is eighth. bc
  27. I've been looking at the tdams in the Championship and thinking about what I'd cinsider a good season to be and tbh any finish from 8th upwards is a result to me. Consolidating a position in the Championship and moving forwards from that has to be taken as positive given our recent history. I don't expect Alan Savage to turn into daddy Warbucks akin to Brooks Mileson given his history. I wish for a new owner with deep pockets so Alan can enjoy his success without constantly topping up our balance. "Welcome to the Longman" has a nice ring to it. Come on Deadpool!
  28. Why is our highlights package so bad? You can barely see the players. You look at the East Fife one and you’d think it was filmed on another day. Their commentary gives it that extra step up also.
  29. Our lads showing Messi and Mbappe that scoring from the spot really isn't that difficult. 5 really well taken penalties. Shame about the 90 minutes preceding them. Credit to East Fife who were very well organised and committed.
