Jim Baxter - sitting on the ball

Can anyone tell me - Did Jim Baxter actually sit on the ball during a International match against England?

My Dad says he remembers Baxter doing this at the corner flag once and waiting for the English to come towards him. Anyone else on here old enough to remember the game?

I have searched Utube and the net in general but can't find any footage of it. Did find loads of clips of Baxter doing keepie-ups against the Auld enemy tho :-).

Cheers

I know for a fact Willie Johnston used to sit on the ball.

Not sure about Baxter

Great article here,he say's he didn't sit on the ball "in that game anyway" played keepy up and generally took the proverbial, sure i remember footage of him standing on the ball and surveying the horizon looking for a team mate to pass too, great stuff

JIm Baxter

Not in that game (I watched the whole game a couple of years ago on DVD). At one point though he puts his foot on it, gestures to McCreadie to come over for it, then walks away :(

As Stevie says, wee Bud Johnston did make a habit of things like that.

Watching The Football Years a few weeks back, nothing was said about him sitting on the ball but footage of him doing keepy-ups for the crack was shown. Some of the guys were saying that they were raging at him as they wanted to score more goals!
