Rangers v Celtic

Cracker of a game from Ibrox....

Rangers 2-1 up at halftime thanks to a penalty which saw Celtic's keeper red-carded. Looks like they'll be joining us in the next round.

Aye...its a good game. Never a sending off tho. Keeper clearly attempted to get the ball....which was well out of Naismmiths control. Id have sed Bougherras lunging tackle with studs up was more of a sending off.

Totally agree, Smee....

There was nothing malicious in the keeper attempting to get the ball. I thought strictly speaking it was a penalty as Naismith did get the last touch,

The punishment for this kind of "offence" is very, very harsh - not only is it a penalty, it's a red card, and the offender is also suspended for his next game.

The penalty award should be sufficient punishment.

Great game to watch. Not so sure it'll be Rangers in teh next round. Celtic look by far the better team even with ten and fully deserved that second equaliser. Unbelieveable save from McGregor there.

...and Naismith just sent off for diving! Brave decision, but the right one too, judging by the replay.

From our pov would probably rather Rangers got through, as Celtic are the better side at the moment, but then we do have a better cup record against Celtic.

2-2. Great game for the TV viewers.

Probably good too for all concerned that they've got to battle it out all over again.

Was a good game to watch. Thought Celtic dominated the second half....played much better football.....but severly lacked penetration. They dont seem to have anyone, like a Johnny Hayes, tht can run at players with the ball and take them on.

High octane stuff.

Well done to the ref who got most things right, especially the sending off of that cheating niaff Naismith, and Scott Brown can count himself fortunate for not getting red carded for blatantly getting in the face of that Diouff fellow. Cracking goal mind you and a tremendous save by McGregor as well.

Whens the replay?

I was looking at Rangers fixtures and unless its next week, it will have to be played a few days before the QFs on the 9th, unless the UTD v Rangers game is canceled on 3rd March and is played then instead. Meaning the next available space would be the 9th March against UTD.

12/2 R v Well

17/2 R v Sporting

20/2 Celic v R

24/2 Sporting v R

27/2 R v ST J

3/3 Utd v R

6/3 St M v R

12/3 Cup qfs

20/3 Celic v R

BBC sport are quoting early March, Extra time and penalties would suit us a few days before the QF

The replay is the 2nd of March so the Utd v Grrrs game will have to be moved.
