Give the Yoof a Chance.

What age do players have to be before they're given a first team chance? The club seems to be very reluctant to give them a go. The likes of Vigurs, Kerr, Gillespie, Wood etc, all regularly receive glowing reports, but are seemingly only on the bench to fill the under 21 quota.

Other clubs don't seem to be so hesitant in giving youngsters a go. If they're good enough then age shouldn't be a factor. Yes, we need to be scouting around for new players, but there's plenty of cover within our own squad as well, and I' like to see some of these youngsters given more first team experience.

You answered your own question there.

I'm sure that after the split we'll get the chance to see what they're really made of but I do wonder why none are given a chance. Does the manager and coaches know they're not up to it? Do they give their all and toe the line in training and of field? I wonder whether any youth would get a chance if the U-21 ruling was scrapped.

I think you are right Alex playing some of the kids after the split would seem the sensible idea. However, CC didn't last season as it was deemed more important to get as high a place as possible to maximise our income  :rolleyes02:

By then we'll be a clear third with nothing more to gain :tic01: :023: :003:

Interesting that Dale Gillespie is good enough for Scotland's under 19's though!!!  Im sure the under 19 team would give a full strength ICT a run for their money!!!
