The more I think about it, the worse I think it is. For a team which is aspiring to be one of the top 12 in the country, to be out of all three cups before Christmas is terrible. We have shown, several times now, that we cannot kill off a game that we control. The next time we are in a knockout situation, maybe even a penalty shoot-out, could well be in the promotion playoffs. On the basis of our cup runs - by then, distant experiences - what confidence could we have? With Gardyne gone and Duku a dud, we desperately need to strengthen the attack. The defence is fine.

If you are confident making changes to your system, download and install this - https://protonvpn.com/ . It looks as though it's available for Windows, Apple, Android and Linux. You'll have to set up an account, which takes seconds. Then simply run it (the free version) and decide whether you are going to connect via the Netherlands, Japan or USA. Connection is instant, and you then look to the outside world as though you are located in wherever you have chosen. It works a treat. You have time to do it before kick-off!

I know we apparently started off the season well, then went into a slump, and are maybe now coming out of it. But, to be honest, I haven't see that much difference in our performances throughout the season. A lot of effort, sometime quites good running, but not many chances, and usually poor finishing. Sometimes we get lucky and score, sometimes we don't. Doddsie was saying something similar on TV on Friday. He said he wasn't unhappy with recent performances, but was unhappy with the recent results. I agreed with that.

Drummin' up support for the team
Saw that (on telly) and thought it was great of him to acknowledge the support, which had been loud all through the game. Just hope that the BBC doesn't object to it - they were clearly broadcasting a chant which was casting doubts on the marital status of someone's parents I see from Robert's post on hospitality that Kirk also spoke to the paying folks after the game. The commentators were full of praise for him before and during the game, for his football skills and for doing everything he can to prolong his playing career. Truly the epitome of a professional footballer.

The few times that I have seen him recently, I have been impressed by him. His positioning is good, and he has made saves when he has had to. In particular, his distribution is so much better than Ridgers'. He nearly always gives it to one of our players, instead of Mark's aimless punts down the pitch, which often actually miss the pitch completely

Oh dear, that was another two hours of my life that I'll never get back. Could have been doing my tax return or regrouting the shower. As I keep saying, the problem is not the defence. It's our complete inability to score. (make up your own Gardyne joke here) And I've never seen so many left-footed penalties.

Where is it going wrong?
Yes, we have let in some silly goals, but I think the problem is at the other end. Not enough creation of goalscoring chances. Poor service to the strikers. And usually woeful finishing whenever someone does have a chance. If I could fix only one of these, I would provide better service to the strikers. We could have Harry Kane up front, but he is still pretty useless without good service. OTOH, even mediocre strikers will get lucky if they have enough chances.

Headless Chickens 1, Dunfermline 2. Lots of frantic running around, but no direction. With the possible exception of Gardyne, we don't have the skills for anything fancy. So keep it simple. Run at the box, run at the goal, run at the defender. They can keep you out on the wing or outside of the box forever. Put them under pressure - force them to stop you. Be direct. Do lots of shooting practice. And FFS learn the offside rule. PS. The livestream was rubbish too. Stuttering constantly, and frequently frozen. Unfortunately I didn't miss anything.

If I was a lawyer with infinite time and resources, I might argue that: a) there was a contract between them and me explicitly to allow me to watch the game (unlike, for example, a contract between me and my ISP to allow general access to the internet, or the licence fee allowing me to generally watch broadcast TV) b) it was reasonable to expect to be able to watch the entire game - no one would buy a ticket to watch only part of the game c) in the event of failure to supply the service, they are responsible to me, in a manner similar to a retailer (not manufacturer) being responsible for remedying problems with faulty goods d) the get-out clause about not guaranteeing the stream is therefore not valid e) they should thus compensate their customers, and then seek redress from their service supplier (as a retailer of goods would seek redress from a manufacturer) if they can establish where the fault was - their contracts with their suppliers should include service level requirements and provisions covering service failure. Now you can probably see why I'm not a lawyer

From Ayr's website, a couiple of days ago: "PPV Issue | Ayr v Inverness The Club are aware of a technical issue which affected the final few minutes of the live stream of last Saturday's match v Inverness. The issue has since been resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused." I have written again to Nick Provan, suggesting that a refund or a free PPV for ICT's next visit in April would be a welcome gesture, and that I look forward to hearing what action the club intends to take.
