  1. Nearly forgot to say, that was the Forsinard Flows Lookout Tower. Or "viewing platform Highlands Scotland", if you're searching for it. And just when I think I'm running out of photographs, I rediscover another of my Dad's. This one is from 1954 or 1955. Should be meat-and-drink for all you ferry fetishists
  2. Nah - a different type of engine The trick is thinking of the terms to enter into your favourite search engine...
  3. I didn't know it, but I do now. Will shut up and let someone else have a go.
  4. I didn't know it, but these must be the most-photographed boats in the Isles! Salen Bay on Mull, beside the A848.
  5. The only islands I have been to are Skye and Orkney Mainland With all those trees, I'd have guessed that it was quite a bit south of Applecross. But even Islay and Mull don't appear to have much in the way of trees. Googling for "white thatched cottage by a bay" doesn't work
  6. Spot on You've just disembarked from the boat...
  7. Took less than a minute OK - another of my Dad's, from 1987. Have checked it against more recent pictures, and with the wee yellow man.
  8. A quick think, enter some search terms into Google, find an image, confirm with the wee yellow man... ... and we're on the A835 just north of Elphin.
  9. Have just checked their rules and regs dated 30 Sep 2020, and that's NOT in there. https://spfl.co.uk/admin/filemanager/images/shares/pdfs/SPFL Rules and Regulations 30-Sep-20 (MASTER COPY B) CLEAN.pdf
  10. I thought you could watch it, with the commentary at low volume? Which is surely not a bad thing
  11. As an exile and a non-season ticket holder, I'd be happy to pay per match for all games. There were over 500 watching the friendly at Nairn. There IS an audience out there.
  12. In a cinema you can't catch covid from the thespians declaiming loudly in front of you
  13. Did you try to topple him while you were up there?
  14. Seven goals in two consecutive games. Ever been done before?
  15. Thanks! But could you tell them that moving pictures have been invented?
  16. Could someone nip down to Station Park and put a shilling in the meter, please?
  17. Woooo - yes! I vaguely remember him saying that that pylon was part of something like a radar station that was there at the time - it looks very like the old Chain Home antennae - and that he really shouldn't have included it in the photograph.
  18. I hadn't put the name on it, so that someone else could have a go. Never mind... Here's one my Dad's from 1954 or thereabouts.
  19. Hang on, I'll just search Scotland using Google Earth. I might be some time...
  20. The hills in the background suggested to me somewhere on the Moray Firth coast. So I've just taken a quick trip along the coastlines with Google Earth, looking for that distinctive harbour layout. It's Balintore.
  21. https://www.ft.com/content/0243c597-c32c-4cfa-8632-097e8393d229 Mid-July: "A FT analysis of Premier League matches played “behind closed doors” since games resumed last month suggests, if anything, home teams are performing better than before the pandemic". Don't know if there is anything more recent.
  22. I had no idea. But after your clue, I searched for "two doors", "church", "significant" and (I can't quite remember) probably "western isles". Looked at the images returned, and there it was. I had no idea that Telford had designed churches, so thank you for that!
