Who will be the 3 candidates?
Surely, the number 2 is picked by whoever gets the Managers job, and not by the club.

New manager thread (merged)
Been doing some thinking about Robbo, he's still the fans favourite is fighting a clever campaign and that puts a certain pressure on the club, I get the feeling Money may Talk. Robbo would take the job on for considerably less than many other candidates. The board know this, no big relocation package required for him either. Given the club had to pay off Brewster, the financial advantages of appointing Robbo might grudgingly swing some of the board in his favour.

Experienced forward required in January
Brewsters shoulder is knackered, as far as I understand he's been told that to play competitive football with such a injury would be really risky, he was offered a operation. But I guess either: one of those that carrys a high chance of failing and making matters worse or he didn't want to be off to recover when managing us. Thats why he never pulled on a ICT shirt of late .. Perhaps now he's jobless and desperate to stay in Football he is willing to risk it in a lower division or he's planning the operation. He however is not fit for SPL football, and much as I'm sure he wanted to pull on a Caley shirt he and the club medical team knew this and thats why didn't happen.

Clear favourites unlikely to be Manager?
Interesting what Burley has to say in todays press re Butcher. He claims he would have to be made a excellent offer, to come to us and that he dosen't know how his long term contract with Setanta would fit around, or be compensated for. This dosen't sound hopeful for the Butcher supporters, as I think it unlikely the board will be willing or able to table a offer that will be able to allow him to give up Setanta. I put it to you that he couldn't look after ICT and do Scotland and Setanta jobs. Meanwhile Robbo is now being touted by Barry Wilson in the press as the man for the job, but I cannot help feeling he won't be back because of Sutherland. (who lets face it will have the final say). Looking at the poll on here both are on like 30% clear favourites with the fans by a long shout. So realisticaly, if as I suggest both are out of the running. Who are we left with untried and inexperienced. Or perhaps Knox as the next best candidate.

Who's Your Candidate?
On balance Robbo for me too, whist I must admit I have a slight fear of going back to a previous manager (After Brew). I think as we only have 16 games or so to turn this round and survive in the SPL. Our best option is Robbo as he is placed to hit the ground running.. and is probably the most cost effective option. He did well with Derry (only as good as your last job?) , he knows the team, he is settled up here and the players respect him. I think he has a genuine affinity to ICT. Whilst his records at Hearts and Livi may not look fab, (it has to be remembered that both clubs had huge debts and interference problems from their boards). Failing that Butcher (although have worrys about him being 100% dedicated as juggling Scotland and ICT), Knox.

PR and Spin..
Not going to happen the club puts the same hymn sheet in front of them they just have to read it..

PR and Spin..
On team talk you have Munro telling us it's the teams fault, as the manager just picks the team and that the fans are entitled to their opinion re Brew. In the P&J today Imrie says almost word for word the same thing. Do the club really think we are stupid enough to swallow this high school level PR exercise ? If they only have to sway 20 of us (lol) surely all this PR spinning is a waste of their time...

I Wonder How...
But wouldn't you think that a pro striker, would realise the benefit of having a strike partner.
-
Backroom Boys
Perhaps it's so they can offer him less money when he's going to be managing a 1st div team instead of a spl one?

How many folk that drink in the social club are ICT fans?? I get the impression when I pick up in the cab from there, that the majority of the folk I am collecting are in the Caley club for cheap booze, doms, ect they don't seem to be drinking there on the whole because they are ICT fans.

Mikey Fraser
I'd have thought Falkirk might show interest too.

We don't need a new Striker?
No I ment Striker.. I am just questioning if perhaps we really need one as desperately as everyone is making out!

We don't need a new Striker?
Ok, devils advocate... (could this give us hope if he don't sign another forward??) Could it not be reasonably argued that our main problem this season has been that we have given a lot of cheap goals away because our defence has been rubbish. This has left a situation where we have needed to score a lot of goals to scrap a draw. If our defence becomes better and we leak less goals. Then the odd one or two we tend to score (from all over the squad) will start to earn draws and wins, and this will be enough to avoid the drop.? Grinding out results as Brewster likes to call it.. I'm no stats man but I believe, Saint Mirren have frequently in their historry score'd the least number of goals in the spl and still avoided religation. Anything in this also: Username (Roby) "Why the hell would we bring in another striker . We already have 4 on our books and our manager only ever plays one at a time . As long as he is still here there is no point as he is obsessed with this 1 up front system which has brought him so much success! We have capable strikers, if he would allow any 2 from 3 to form a regular partnership. Off course that would be like admitting you were doing something wrong and i have yet to hear Brewster accept the blame for anything to do with our current prediciment."

Experienced forward required in January
If Brewster was not injured, would you guys be in favour of him coming back as the striker we need?? Also have to say unless we can turn up a ruff diamond or someone who can step up from the lower leagues, we ain't going to get a decent striker without breaking the wages budget. How many on here were so critical of the board last time they did it to get Marius.
-
Define "experienced"?
The problem is whilst we might be able to find away to fund a decent strikers wages. It would probably break the wage structure, something I don't believe the board will do especially as it seemed to cause a lot of problems and player unrest when they did it with Marius.

Surely, Vigurs is Blacks natural replacement.

34 international caps, surely hes better than pavel? Not exactly enthused by that news. He can't even get into the Chester first team at present. could mijhaduks get in his teams squad/ no stop being so negative give new players a chance, has brewsters signings last week been crap? But I think you miss the point. Pavel is a central defender (which we definately need). Kolesnicenko is an attacking midfielder (your compairing a sausage too an egg!!)

Trialists (merged)
Yes, Chester are keen to get shot, he's not getting first team football and they are near their wages cap. But hell Malkie knows him well from his days as Chester assistant manager and obviously sees something in him, so who knows!

I'm in optimistic mood. Better to test a new back line in the cup than in league and Barrowman has less divisions to step up today also. G
