    Sam Pearson

Pearson has looked by far the best of the January signings. It's a shame we haven't seen more of him and I hope to see him play as much as possible over the coming weeks whilst we still have him.
  2. Much, much better performance from the team. Credit to them and Dodds. Dunfermline were never in that game save for a short spell after we scored when MacKay kept us in the game with some stunning saves. McAlear's Jimmy Ping was simply gorgeous. Incredible technique to hit that so well but also so controlled. I will never tire of watching it. Great finish by Samuels for his first ICT goal mere seconds after I bemoaned his appearance in place of Mckay Picking players to get points in the MotM was a chore but for the right reasons this time. So many good performances from Sutherland, Deas, Duffy, McAlear etc but looking back I think I've been harsh to exclude Carson who had the cigars out keeping Dom Thomas in his back pocket the entire time Thomas was on the pitch. A real return to form for Carson. I feel like Arbroath are running on fumes at the moment so could we sneak second spot? We've probably left ourselves with too much to do but you never know...
  3. I've watched this strike all morning...
  4. The song being so important that they've got the wrong words on the strip.
  5. There's your new home strip...
  6. They've won 3 games in 2023 and 5 since Hughes took the job on in November. Hardly setting the heather alight. That said, we've been garbage against Dunfermline, and indeed for most of this season, so despite Hughes' poor record in charge I am not expecting anything from this weekends game. Dunfermline, along with Hamilton, being the only teams we haven't beaten in the league this season. I've been looking at this 1) to see how true it is and 2) because I am sad. Our PPG v top half sides is currently 1.73 compared to 1.33. That's obviously boosted a little bit by recent wins over Arbroath and Raith Rovers. Time to start increasing the PPG v lower half of the tables sides methinks...
  7. Have you seen how Dunfermline are playing and performing under Hughes?
  8. I had to spend about 15 minutes in the car trying to collect myself before I could drive back. What an utterly bonkers match. Clear red card for Benedictus and if Broadfoot did have him by the throat, whilst I can understand his anger, it sounds like we were lucky to avoid a dismissal as well. I didn't even know Williamson had been sent off I think I was trying to breathe normally again at that point. We were a mess at the back for much of that game and I felt we gifted Raith their goals by not dealing with balls forward and MacKay not really covering himself in glory for the first and looked weak at the second as well. I guess Raith will feel the same about our goal with Thomson looking really weak on the high ball that led to the goal. We were absolutely out of that game until the red card. Our tactics seemed to consist of someone trying to dink a ball over the top of the Raith defence and hope that Samuels or Mckay could latch onto it. It took about 8 unsuccessful attempts before the ICT support made clear their feelings that it wasn't working. Looked like Chalmers first strike was deflected over Thomson but who cares. Limbs in the away end as we thought we grabbed a scarcely deserved point but even better was to follow as Chalmers hit a lovely low drive sweetly past Thomson. Incredible limbs and a charge down the McDermid stand to celebrate with the players. You love to see it! A simply mind boggling afternoon which saw us grab a massive 3 points but it papered over the cracks of a largely poor performance in which we got the benefit of the doubt with some questionable refereeing decisions.
  9. The SPL / Premiership highlights typically only stayed up for a week or so before the video stopped working. YouTube is the best for finding older games so if it's not there you might be out of luck.
  10. Excellent result and one that will hopefully see Dodds reduce the amount of time we fire the ball into the air. We played had some very nice, crisp passing moves at times, like the second goal, which were wonderful to see after weeks of the ball being shelled vaguely in the direction of Mckay and hoping for the best. After some really quite clinical finishing from us it was a shame to see us return to the more direct approach as I felt we lost our way a little after that. I was surprised at how "Route One" Arbroath were. We seemed to deal with their endless long balls pretty well for the most part. I felt our defence was largely untroubled except for Broadfoot making a horses arse of dealing with a clearance and almost letting Arbroath snatch a goal back. IIRC he was hooked not long after and Duffy did well in his place. Sutherland also performed well in the slightly odd, for him, right midfield slot. He worked tirelessly again and deserves praise for his efforts. I also think Mckay showed his class yet again and McAlear continues to show real promise as he dominated the middle of the pitch for large spells. Carson also looked like his old self which is nice to see in the week that Michael Gardyne was searching for his own name on social media and liking Tweets from County fans calling him "Agent Gardyne". Gaston will be having nightmares about the third goal. He looked really poor and Arbroath in general looked pretty tired. Perhaps it is to be expected that, cliché alert, a part time team would start to tire at this stage of the season after all their efforts. Smashing away support in the away end from the Smokies. Best of the season given the relative size of their club. Looked to be about 300 odd at a minimum. On to the next one!
  11. The weird thing is that, prior to his official departure from the club, our results with and without Gardyne were broadly similar. Off the pitch is, of course, another matter.
  12. Roddy MacGregor refusing to train is up there with David Carson walking out on the club and wanting his contract ripped up. Both utterly laughable.
  13. Our form over the last 6 months (almost) is a major concern.
  14. The pitch was garbage but our first half performance was only marginally better. We were improved after the break and dominated most of the second half without troubling Sneddon too much. The chance for Sutherland and Doran (IIRC) were probably our best opportunities to score. Massively disappointing to concede a goal so late on especially given it was probably Partick's first shot of the second half but if you don't take your chances... A lot of anger on Twitter and at the game towards Dodds who really should be under massive pressure now but he won't be. I suspect his job is safe until the end of the season despite this being our joint second worst ever run of form in the league (Foran 14 without a win 16/17, Butcher 11 without a win 10/11). I've said for a while we will do well to hold onto 4th spot. Starting to look further down the table now at Morton and Hamilton now. Grim.
  15. That last nights performance is seen as an improvement shows how far we've fallen this season. Another poor showing with the defence looking suspect, midfield unable to create anything and wasteful finishing up front. The first half was poor again and although we were better in the second half and probably should have won it we didn't and we drop more points and can kiss goodbye to any lingering dreams of a title fight. Mckay (twice), Pearson, McAlear and Hardy all had great chances to grab a vital win but at no point did any of them really look like scoring. Staggered that Samuels is getting praise on here. I must be watching a different player as time and time again he just seemed to run into a dead end and lose the ball. He barely created anything of note the entire game. Yes he helped to set up the goal but I'm sorry, he got lucky there. When he plays that pass it's going to absolutely no one in a blue shirt. I don't think Dodds knows where to play him in this team. Pearson was better on the opposite flank but seemed to fade into the second half. He helped out Hyde a lot when the latter was getting the run around from Kennedy to begin with. I felt Doran did reasonably well as a 10 behind Mckay and linked well with the wide men. Disappointed when he went off. Easy to say with hindsight but I feel we rushed Devine back too quickly for this one. He seemed to misjudge a header and appeared to jarr his foot in the pitch and looked to have tweaked something as he limped off. Not what we need right now. Broadfoot and Deas both made errors during the course of the match being caught in possession or letting balls run by them thinking there was no one else around. I thought Sutherland was actually quite decent when he came on. He seemed to give our attack a wee bit of a boost when it seemed Hamilton were coming back into things and he did well to pick Mckay out for a chance IIRC. (Cammy) Mackay did well and pulled off some good saves. Especially the one in the first half when it looked like an Accies player wandered back onto the pitch, was surely offside and came across the path of the ball. Given Muir's performance if that had gone in I suspect it would have stood. As bad an officiating display as I've seen in a long time. There was no lack of effort but there's just not a lot of good football being played by these guys just now.
  16. Had been hoping to get to this but stuck working late. Glad to see it on YouTube. Tuned in just in time to see our equaliser and then some Hearts kid avoid a stonewall red card for a shocking lunge on one of the ICT lads.
  17. I was also thinking about Hastings, Caff, Christie, Rosbon, Stewart and even Brewster!
  18. A bit if light hearted relief is needed I feel. Spotted this on Twitter earlier: Who would make your Caley Thistle Masters team? I went for: GK - Brill, Mann, McBain, Bingham, Wilson, Wyness.
  19. I mentioned this on the podcast but we are currently winless in this round of fixtures. We started the season well with an average points per game (PPG) of 2.33 from the first 9 fixtures and a win % of almost 80%. Since then the drop off has been nothing short of seismic. During the second round of fixtures PPG fell to 1.44 and win % to 33. We are currently winless in the third round of fixtures, as already mentioned, and PPG has fallen to 0.56. Even if we beat Hamilton on Friday (spoiler we won't) the best PPG we can hope for is 0.89 and a win % of 11. Quite simply abysmal. As for Saturday there isn't much else to add. Sad thing is I am now expecting to lose pretty much any game we play. All the positive stories in the P & J and the Courier about us needing to get a win to get us back into the title race or another former player saying we have a chance doesn't change the fact that this team looks utterly bereft of ideas and confidence and Dodds has not seemed capable of lifting them out of this malaise for a prolonged period and that is very concerning.
  20. They've appointed Mark McGhee who still has to serve a 6 game ban incurred when he was Aberdeen manager 5 years ago

    New ICT Podcast

It's good to be back! After a prolonged wait we've got a lovely new podcast for you all. Plenty of football chat about the last few weeks, a review of the recent signings, transfer window roundup around the division and interviews with Scott Allardice, Ryan Esson and new arrival Austin Samuels. Cor!
  22. Best (used loosely) attacking performance in some time sadly coupled with our worst defensive showing of the season.
  23. Where the f'ck is everyone!?
  24. Guessing it might be the 442 diamond we seemed to end the game with on Saturday. That may mean McAlear on the left / right. Yikes. Ridgers Carson Broadfoot Duffy Deas Welsh McAlear-----------------Pearson Sutherland Samuels Mckay
