  10. I guess you must be related to Les then....
  11. Mantis's excellent site will give you all you want for Caley nostalgia Caledonian FC
  12. I think it is in fact the 90s and possibly as RBC stated one of the last few seasons - it is therefore not Mike Andrew in the photo. I have just checked the photos of the burnt out stand (and it does indeed have the black and red painted back inside) and it looks very similar if you discount the hole in the roof and it is a little blackened by a fire The advertising board on the main stand is for Matchwinner sports clothing who was the company that produced the ITFC strips in the 90s (I think from 92/93). The company is still going but they have been bought over and the gentleman who runs it now knew nothing about the fact that the company had provided strips for Highland League sides. Matchwinner Top
  13. It looks like Rangers had a lot of chances last night also - but the Utd defence held out with some dogged defending and excellent goalkeeping.... Rangers again scored an early goal - the big difference is Utd managed to bounce back from conceding the early goal and then tried to take the game to Rangers.... Utd up to 3rd - I reckon that is where they will be at the end of season.... Highlights look as if it was a really entertaining game - you can never go wrong with 6 goals when they are evenly spread between the teams
  14. I came across a site on Non-League Scottish Grounds and it has a section on Grounds of the Past. Non League Scotland Web Site Lost Scottish Non-League Grounds There are two photos of Kingsmills Park in the Old Grounds Section both provided by Steve Broughton I think I can make out Dave Milroy, Mike Andrew and Alan MacDonald but not sure exactly when these photos were taken but possibly late 80s - 87 or 88 maybe (and possibly against Elgin City....) - although the clothing does look later -so maybe wrong about Mike Andrew and it is early 90s
  15. Quite a few outfield players over the years had to play in goal especially prior to there not being a reserve keeper on the bench (or even substitutes) prior to the mid-60s....I should imagine there was always a panic when a goalkeeper was suddently not available at the last minute on a Saturday afternoon.... Something else you don't see a lot of is goalkeeper's in management but there are two in the North - Les Fridge at Nairn County.... and Bobby Gray at Culter with 7 titles in 10 seasons as well as a number of cup wins....come to think of it a goalkeeping coach and successful manager all in one....that could be useful at TCS
  16. All those spirits on show and nobody at the bar.... place must be haunted....
  17. Oliver's Army
  18. You might get a season out of that....hopefully though you will be able to wear it longer....
  19. He was between the sticks for quite a few seasons - I remember Gordon MacDonald playing for Jags also for quite a few seasons - if I remember right Gordon was Kevin MacDonald's brother (of Caley, Leicester, Liverpool etc)....
  20. As there has been just a little talk about goalkeepers recently it got me thinking that there were some very good old Caley and Jags keepers over the years (many who never had the opportunity to play outside the Highland League) and some who maybe were not so good.... The obvious Jaggy keeper to come to mind is Jim Calder who started out as an outfield player and went on to become a stalwart for both the Jags and then ICT. Does anybody have any special favourities of the past or any stories or incidents about those goalkeepers who had to endure the abuse of away (and home) fans at HL grounds all over the north?
  21. I hope its not 'Brewster' you are planning on as you may need to buy a new top after christmas....
  22. What's Richard Gough doing these days....? Colin Hendry at least we don't need to worry about....nice bloke though.... :thumb04:
