We have conceded the most goals so far in the SPL and with the way things have gone in the last two games you have to think that the priority will have to be defensive positions. Added to this the uncertainty of loanees and the possibilty of another unwanted spree of injuries/suspensions that could leave us short at the back for a long period again then finding a versatile defender is I think a priority. Where you find one of those in January, and on a free at that, is the challenge....
  2. Aye that could do some damage - will be interesting to see if the same attacking formation will be deployed at Park Heard irrespective of the personnel involved because as you say Celtic at the back are a bit of a shambles at times. That is something though we have also been guilty of this season so far and on current form you cannot see Celtic not scoring against us so we will have to outscore them if we want all three points.... A tough decision to make - do you go for it or play a more conservative formation. If the players think they can take them then maybe it is worth the gamble....we shall see....
  3. Seemed to have started brightly enough
  4. At 2-1 up on Saturday it was looking a lot better on the BBC website than it has for a while....but then back to earth with a bang.... Still think Hibs are the worst team in the league but the unbearable thing is that they have more points on the table....the league is tight but the important thing in the short term is to ensure that the gap between us and those above doesn't widen....
  5. SPL football in the Highlands every weekend....mmmm.....
  6. Your comparison is a tad harsh Herr Dougal but do agree that Shinnie could prove to be a decent acquisition....and asset....
  7. Celtic - only two yellow cards
  8. Agree DD makes complete sense - whether we are SPL next season or not it makes sense and is the stability we need to move the club forward into the next chapter. I always see ICT as being a club that has always tried to keep a solid foundation as there are many other areas where we just cannot compete with the supposedly bigger clubs. Where others are losing it I think we are ready to push on to the next level - ooh hah....
  9. They've now got 4 fit strikers again.... Wood, Rooney, King and Zigic. Looks like they started with one up front and had Wood and King on the bench as the back up strikers. See young Wood got another two - he's certainly banging them in....
  10. Elgin 0-1 up at Peterhead
  11. 1. Ryan Esson 2. Thomas Piermayr 3. Ross Tokely 10. Andrew Shinnie 16. Roman Golobart 11. Nick Ross 17. Gavin Morrison 19. Graeme Shinnie 25. David Davis 9. Richie Foran 15. Gregory Tade Subs 12. Jonny Tuffey (GK) 8. Greg Tansey 18. Shane Sutherland 21. William McKay 20. Aidan Chippendale 22. Kenny Gillet
  12. Yip - for once we are benefiting from the TD. Ko 11:30 here and it's the weekend....:-) Quite a few from work are heading down - even one optimistic Scotsman who is going to the games from the quarters on.... All the games are being reshown in the evenings at the rugby club here so will be making a few visits. I think Scotland can make the last eight but the Kiwis are just starting to play 'run for fun' rugby at the moment....
  13. PS - pub quiz question - name another football stadium located on a Firth?
  14. Herr Bannerman - well put - but as most of us post-merger dinosaurs have found out why would you continue to support a team that you have no real allegiance to when you have the answer to your real loyalies on your doorstep. Then I suppose this is a question every small conurbation outside of the midland belt still asks themselves today.... I care about my team and I know I am not alone....it is not ICT that is the problem it is the modern game and what it means or really the football perception of the naughties....I never thought I would say this but the HL days seemed a lot simpler but as we know the basic challenges then of just staying solvent were just as big a challenge if not bigger....
  15. He's doing a lot better then I thought - good on him as still a tough league to score in - hope he keeps it up....
  16. How topical - Wellington Phoenix.... :-)
  17. Dani Sanchez has signed a one year contract with NZ A-league side Wellington Phoenix. Good luck to him. He was unlucky with injuries but always felt he could have given us another option especially now with the current injuries....but who could have predicted that....
  18. Wot no Jupie Mitchell - 77 goals in a season - now that'll take some beating - we'll be lucky to get that as a team
  19. Celtic are back in Europe - for now....

A number of players have been released from their contracts in the last 24hrs so there may well be new faces at several clubs before the next SPL round of matches....
  21. You would think if they were going to make up a name they could have thought of a better one than Muirfield Mills - I smell a rat or is it empty apartments....
  22. I'd leave it to Sunday as they are all away on their Eid holidays.... ;-)
