Every manager has brought something to the table in terms of fond memories and success. Unfortunately, the one thing they all have in common (with the possible exception of Christie who stepped down and remained) is leaving the club somewhat acrimoniously in the eyes of some or all supporters. Sergei was on a hiding to nothing having come from one half of our founding clubs, and didnt really have much if any success, but he will always be our first manager, and the man who oversaw many firsts for "CT" in that inaugural season in 1994-95. Paterson obviously guided us through the leagues playing some good stuff and masterminded 'that' result in 2000. Robbo guided us to the SPL and was very vocal in getting the rules changed whilst our chairman at the time was quietly effective in doing the same thing out of the public eye. Brewster had a measure of success and got us the fittest we have ever been, Charlie did well and lest we forget, our first time of finishing "best of the rest" we played all 5 post-split games achieving victory and not conceding a goal - something that had never been done before. Lets set aside Brewster 2.0 and move quickly on ... Butcher also had a good team around him and talked a good game as well as making some good signings and moving us forward and Yogi too will go down in history as the manager to have won us the Scottish Cup and navigated our first foray into Europe. Who should succeed him? I am not sure. The same old names will get trotted out although Owen Coyle might be an interesting addition to the normal list in the merry go round although I think he is more likely to end up in England somewhere. A lot of mentions for Richie Foran in some role but lets not forget that whoever becomes manager MUST have their UEFA badges. Its a UEFA requirement for anything more than a caretaker manager job in the top division of each country. Does Richie have these? Does anyone else who might be promoted from within like Esson or Yogi's assistant whose future is still unclear have these ? I will leave the board to make the right decision. KC and the rest of the directors chose Yogi for the position when he was not everybody's first (or second or third) choice and despite initial misgivings from a sizeable chunk of our support, until recently, where rifts became apparent, it seemed to be a pretty good fit. If KC wants to think outside the box again for a new manager or head coach then I personally am going to trust him on both a personal and professional basis. I have known him for 15+ years and he is a man of integrity, and I know he has (and always has had) the best interests of ICT at his core.

correct. the table uses the data that we provide and the software cannot handle the split ! any budding (or expert) php/sql experts are welcome to assist us in updating it as its on the to-do list !

I would respectfully disagree. I have known Kenny for nigh on 15 years and he is a man of integrity who will (and has) taken a fair bit of flak. This is not a knee jerk reaction or a case of going in a huff ..... On the playing side I would agree with several of our managers pulling off some decent signings. However, given that our club never makes a profit without some form of windfall or administrative magic, or indeed (over the years) smaller sums of monies put in by those same directors then I would argue that the board should take a large amount of credit ... otherwise those signings, and an SPL budget (even if its a low one) would not be possible. Who says a contingency plan is not in place? If the relationship had indeed got that bad then to think otherwise would seem foolish. Assuming this happens, I am sure the club (and the chairman) will have a plan ... after all, Yogi himself was not favourite for the job when the chairman took a gamble and gave it to him ....
  5. barring a huge swing in voting in the remaining voting time I can confirm that ROSS DRAPER is the CaleyThistleOnline Player of the Year (elect) for 2015-2016. Ross took the Player of the Month honours for May, by a considerable margin from Jordan Roberts, and after taking maximum points in 2 of the 3 games leapfrogs Miles Storey to our award. A full story and breakdown of the voting will follow once I get back to Canada next weekend

  9. Richard Gordon was more diplomatic and called him a hothead .... but his behaviour not a surprise apparently.
  10. Hamilton down to 10 men - Mackinnon gets into it with Vigurs apparently then loses it completely, two yellows and a red in quick succession.
  11. was it declared null and void ? I read on the SPFL website that United were deducted 3 points and fined 30K ! a subtle but important difference to your interpretation. Although we didnt deserve the points, I do however agree with your comment about the final table. the difference in money terms between 7th and 8th spot is 53K .... but we still have a chance to secure 7th on Saturday, especially if we win tonight.

  13. the substitution made no difference to the game, so at worst they should get a slap on the wrist. the points deduction is irrelevant as they were already down. Us not getting the points instead could be a more major talking point but didnt think we really deserved them ! Thomson would have had to resign anyway - he is a Premiership representative so would have had to seek re-election as a championship rep. They mentioned on radio that the championship rep also had to step down for same reason.
  14. and dont forget that our wage structure has always relied on a fairly modest wage but good bonuses so cup winning money for example wont be straight into the coffers without first getting a decent slice split between the squad so the net amount will be a lot lower. No idea whether or not KC and KT are drawing a wage, but I know in the past that many of those who ran our club did not. If they are then I would say its likely deserved given our on and off field performance over the last few years.

  16. I am putting the reputation system under scrutiny as it looks like a tiny minority of users are doling out their maximum allowed number of red dots per day in somewhat of a pattern. I may make some changes to the system based on my findings ...
  17. Toronto FC finally kicked off the home portion of their 2016 campaign with a solid 1-0 victory Saturday vs FC Dallas. In this post game video blog I take a look at the roof and how it impacts the game day experience in the South end of BMO Field, I take a another look at the continuing defensive solidity the Reds are showing (this time against one of the better offensive clubs in MLS in FC Dallas), I anoint Jozy Altidore as my Man of The Match & I end off with celebratory video from the stands. Let us know what YOU Thought of the game. View the full article

  19. doubt it considering he retired on medical advice after re-injuring himself a short time into his Falkirk contract.
  20. Just posted a blog entry with a Player of the Year update. With 3 games to go any one of five different players can still be the CTO - POY for 2015/16
  21. Its that time of year again .... time to go through all the polls and calculate who is winning the race to be the 16th recipient of the CaleyThistleOnline Player of the Year award. The CTO - POY award was started in season 2000-2001, and other than the Supporters Club / Trust Player of the Year award, it is the only external award recognised officially by the club and included in their year on year stats, a fact we are very proud of. An interesting fact about our award is that in the 15 years of its existence it has never been won by the same person twice, although, to be fair, it has often been won by a player who has made such an impact with ICT that he has moved onward and upward at the end of that season or the next. Ryan Esson, who won the trophy in 2010-11 is the only player still on the books who has won it before. Last year Marley Watkins was like a runaway train in this poll. He amassed the highest quantity of votes and points for 4 out of the first five months of the season as well as the last two months of the season and won it with 79 points. His closest rivals were Graeme Shinnie - looking to be the first ever player to win it for a second time - and Greg Tansey who both amassed what would normally be a respectable total of 44 points each. Ryan Christie and Josh Meekings rounded out the top five with 36 and 29 points respectively. So onto season 2015-16 and with several of the top points scorers from last season gone, it was a question of who would step up and take the challenge this year .... The season started early with our Europa League debut and Gary Warren was the front runner that month winning the Player of the Month and grabbing maximum POY points in both games against Astra Giurgiu. In August, with a heavy six game schedule, Danny Williams grabbed the monthly honours on number of votes received, closely followed by Ryan Christie and Owain Fon Williams. Christie however jumped into the points lead in the standings courtesy of more of his votes being first place votes. September and October belonged to Miles Storey and it was beginning to look like he "might do a Marley" but up stepped CTO sponsored player Liam Polworth to grab the honours for November and December. Miles was back at it again in January winning the Player of the Month again, but Ross Draper, Owain Fon Williams and Carl Tremarco have all taken it in the last three months. With one month, and three games to go, so a maximum of 15 points up for grabs, there are still 5 players who can win it. Miles Storey currently leads with 51 but he is only 5 points ahead of Ross Draper. Gary Warren, Owain Fon Williams and Liam Polworth are a little further behind, but not out of it by any means. Click on the graphics below to view the current standings.
  22. 3-0 Meekings and some life in Biscuits.
  23. He perked up when Roberts hit the post a few minutes ago, and now when he hit the post again just a few seconds ago.
  24. Storey scores right at the start of second half .... Biscuits still underwhelmed
  25. 'Biscuits' on Sportsound is definitely underwhelmed
