  5. PLAYER TO BE SPONSORED: To be confirmed but main sponsorship likely to be the same as last year which was LIAM POLWORTH Home Top. If we reach additional milestones we will look to add sponsorship for other players for 'lesser' items.: Home Shirt - £350 +vat (420) Away Shirt - £250 +vat (300) Training Top - £150 +vat (180) Boots - £150 +vat (180) HOW TO TAKE PART To take part in this sponsorship you will need to upgrade your site membership and join the "Player Sponsor" group. We in turn will use the money received from these memberships (minus paypal fees) to purchase player sponsorships from the club. The cost to join this group is £11.00 (this amounts to £10.00 joining fee plus £1 to cover the aforementioned paypal fees). You may purchase multiple memberships if you wish, just amend the total in your shopping cart and add a note when placing the order if it is to cover family members who may not officially be site members !!! NEW MEMBERS: To join the group simply go to this page http://caleythistleonline.com/store/ or access the CTO Store from the main menu at the top (under features). All our site membership upgrades are handled securely via Paypal which will accept direct payment from the majority of credit/debit cards so it should be easy enough to upgrade your membership whether you live in Sneck or somewhere thousands of miles from there. RENEWING MEMBERS: You can either use the same process that new members use or you can do a simple renewal from your account. Go to http://caleythistleonline.com/index.php?app=nexus&module=clients and you should be able to renew from here. CASH MEMBERSHIPS: It proved to be a bit of a hassle in the last couple of years last year so this year we will NOT be taking cash payments. Everything needs to go through Paypal. Once we know how many members have joined the group, we will make a decision on what gets sponsored. The first item will be the selected player's Home Kit ... but the more members who upgrade to "Player Sponsor" membership, the more we can sponsor. At the end of the season, members of our sponsor group will be selected at random to receive any gifts we may receive from the club and the first selected user can - if they wish - attend the sponsors' event held by the club as our representative. If you are interested, please add your name to this thread or go ahead and join the sponsor group. You will be marked as once we confirm payment received via membership upgrade .... EDIT: Just to clarify a point one or two people asked about last year .... Technically the payment is listed as a 'subscription' when you pay, but that is internal to this site only and is done this way so that in a year's time it will generate an invoice on here allowing existing members to renew (if they wish) or to let it expire. Renewal (or not) is at the user's discretion and as far as paypal is concerned its a one-off payment and there will be no automatic re-billing from their side.
  6. Apparently he did it because it was a Chewsday .... hopes to play for Hungary in the next world cup
  7. Plenty of flat houses if you look up Inverness on 3D google maps .... a flat stadium too
  8. The merger happened and is part of our history but the key word there is history, as in "the past, olden days, bygone days, the old days, long ago etc.". It should never be forgotten, and those who chose not to support the new team are as much within their rights to do so as those of us who chose to embrace (Inverness) Caledonian Thistle. But no-one can say with any degree of certainty what would have happened had the two teams chosen to go alone ... not Charles Bannerman, not IHE, not any single one of the 'refuseniks' or anyone else because that did not happen ...... Would two Inverness teams going alone have split the votes and ended up with County and someone else from the south getting in ? Would Thistle have got in due to Jock's contacts, leaving Caley floundering in the HL or would we have got in in place of County? Had one or both teams not got in would that have affected the support for each team? Would a go-it-alone Caley or Thistle have been so successful? If you have an answer to any of those questions then you are deluding yourself. You can have an opinion, perhaps even an informed opinion, but you cannot know what would have happened unless you have been to a parallel universe where it did !!! (ok, maybe IHE will know ... he is often on a different planet). For my mind, I prefer to remember it thus .... The merger happened. It was painful. We came through it. We are stronger now. We are successful. We are ICT!
  9. You really are f****** clueless arent you. Have you ever attended an MLS game? How does an artificial surface translate to creating a mini MLS? and would mimicking some aspects of MLS - a league on the up, with rising attendances, improving quality, and a very serious youth policy that requires every club to establish an Academy, not to mention 22 players representing their respective countries at the world cup - be that bad? Just for a bit of clarity ..... MLS has 19 teams playing in 18 stadiums (LA & Chivas share). 3 teams (Seattle, Portland, New England) use Field Turf, 1 team (Vancouver) uses Polytan. So 14 out of 18 stadiums using good old grass ..... Of those 18 stadiums, 13 of them are "soccer specific stadiums" with only DC United, New England, San Jose, Seattle and Vancouver playing in stadiums not built specifically for football. DC United & San Jose are building new stadiums, and future teams New York FC, Orlando, and Miami are all building or looking to build proper football stadiums too..... so in the next 3 years or so MLS will have 22 teams, 19 in their own "soccer specific" stadiums with capacities of around 20-25000 each, with 18 of them using grass. Only 1 team in MLS that is playing in its own stadium will actually be choosing to use Field Turf (Portland) .... and that surface is approved at the highest level by FIFA. As for the hot dog vendors in the aisles .... not seen them at any ground yet, they usually stay in the concourse, i think the grill is a little heavy to carry up all those stairs, but I have seen popcorn vendors and the all important beer vendors going up and down the aisles. Funnily enough, I also dont recall any teams having mascots like we do in Scotland, and no cheerleaders either ...... so if anyone is guilty of making things a bit 'Disney' it is the SPFL .... and I am sure its not the first or last time the words Mickey Mouse and SPFL will appear in the same sentence !
  10. Very magnanimous gesture .....but you were supposed to throw the fish back not the bloody prize
  11. The one in this pic wasnt too bad ..... but the "I dribble for ICT" ensemble was a bit crappy and as you say, somewhat large. Unfortunately that was it for baby selections and we would have bought more on our last trip if there were other items but I guess minimum orders and 'dead stock' issues limit the club somewhat for some items. ... although perhaps we could market the 15" necked bibs to some of our adult customers and shift them that way
  12. Who cares? Jamie_ictfc obviously !
  13. Most fundraising ideas are great on paper but incredibly difficult to put into practice. I have that from first hand experience when ICT nearly went to the wall more than a decade ago. In Ian Broadfoot's book and in his 'season history' he notes the "Pay a Player" scheme I tried to get off the ground to help Pele with his player budget ..... It was great, people were very positive, and liked the idea that they could pay as much or as little as they wanted per month (subject to a £5 minimum). We were in the final stages of preparation when David Sutherland came along and sorted us out so the scheme never actually saw the light of day but the difference between people's attitude when talking about the idea compared to asking then to fill out the forms so they could part with some cold hard cash was like chalk and cheese ...... I estimate about 1 in 20 of those who said they would do it were prepared to follow through ...... Same can be said to a lesser extent with our own player sponsorship ..... its simple, easy, and only a tenner per share but it still takes us on average about 3 months to reach our target .... and that's only £500 not £400K !
  14. yup that should be correct .... Champions always seem to start with a home game ... Interesting to note that since 2004/05 when ICT were first in the SPL until last season in the SPFL only 1 team has played the champions more than once in the opening game ..... Motherwell - 2004/05 @ Celtic Livingston - 2005/06 @ Rangers Kilmarnock - 2006/07 & 2007/08 @ Celtic, 2010/11 @ Rangers St Mirren - 2008/09 @ Celtic Falkirk - 2009/10 @ Rangers Hearts - 2011/12 @ Rangers Aberdeen - 2012/13 @ Celtic Ross County - 2013/14 @ Celtic 2014/15 ......... maybe Killie's turn again

I have no doubt that given time TB might have managed to spark Hibs back into life ... but therein lies his first and potentially biggest mistake. Did his ego make him think that he would be the first Hibs manager in recent history that would actually be given any time? He has a record of being piss poor to begin with at most clubs, but when given time (eg 'Well and ICT), and allowed to assemble his own squad, then he has proved he can turn things around or at least have them heading in the right direction. I have said it before, and will say it again ... I thank TB for what he achieved at ICT, for the players he brought in, and the raised profile he afforded us. It is appreciated and will be looked on fondly .... but, he chose to turn around and bite the hand that fed him, and would have fed him for life had he wanted it, and for the utterly disrespectful manner in which he did so I can offer no sympathy for him whatsoever. He got what was coming to him plain and simple !
  16. see the 19 page topic here:

Confirmation: http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/20140610/terry-butcher_2262950_3895617 http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27783337 Oh dear .... ...... "Unfortunately assistant manager Maurice Malpas is abroad on holiday at present and I want to meet him on his return to explain the situation at the club."
  18. Don't think its a case of 'can't' have #13, its not banned or anything, think its a case of superstition for some players or teams and they just don't choose to wear the number.
  19. Joe Bendik, TFC current keeper wears #12 and previous first choice goalie Stefan Frei wore #24, even Julio Cesar wore #30. Chris Konopka, the 3rd choice keeper wears #1 !!! Strangest number at TFC was 96 worn by Jeff Cunningham who had scored 96 MLS goals when he signed for TFC. He only scored 3 goals for us in 2007/08 to take him up to 99 but was traded after missing a goal-line sitter that have taken TFC to the Concacaf Champions League group stage. I have never seen any fans with #96 at TFC !!!! Think he went to a 'normal' number after that .... In 2011 he wore 33 for Columbus but now apparently on trial for a team in Vietnam after a stint with the San Antonio Scorpions. Only other weird number fact seems to be that TFC has had 4 players wear the #13 shirt including current captain Steven Caldwell. Hicham Zerouali wore #0 (Zero) at Aberdeen. Derek Riordan wore #1 when he first signed for Hibs as #9 and #10 were both taken (Fletcher/Nish) Ossie Ardiles wore #1 at the 1982 World Cup (numbers were allocated alphabetically - except for Maradona's) Mexico's Jorge Campos liked to wear #9 as he started as a striker Lizarazu wore #69 at Bayern (claimed it was because of his year of birth - 1969, and height - 1.69m) Victor Baia wore #99 in the Champions league for Porto
  20. Current best selling shirt numbers in Toronto - who have had numbers ranging from 1-96 over the years - are #4 (Michael Bradley) and #18 (Jermain Defoe). In the past, #14 (Danny Koevermans/Dwayne DeRosario) and #22 (Torsten Frings) were popular and I have seen quite a few #30 Julio Cesar goalie shirts this year even though he only played 7 times on loan for us and may go back to QPR after the World Cup. Leads me to believe its most definitely the person inside the shirt that dictates popularity rather than some silly numbering.
  21. think Celtic thought Lennon was going to Norwich so they tried to poach Delia .... but we all know edumacation isnt what it once was down that neck of the woods !!!

Terry Butcher was manager at ICT for 207 games (206 really as he was still officially manager when supping hospitality at Easter Road!). In that time he oversaw 86 victories, 57 draws and 64 defeats. We could ALL pull out examples of where he did well or where he did badly in those 200+ games to prove our own viewpoint. As I said elsewhere ... I thank him for what he did do at Inverness, it is appreciated, and I will look fondly upon that time, but he chose to disrespect us, the club, and his players in the manner in which he chose to depart and for that he deserves every little managerial pitfall and setback that comes his way. I will take a little bit of pleasure from each and every moment ..... until he is finally sacked from Hibs.
  23. Scotty replied to Ten4's topic in General Football
Laurence: Did he guide Hibs to relegation? (and technically he left us in one cup not two as the other had not been drawn when he left) Some managers (and players for that matter) just "fit" at certain clubs and fail abysmally at others. TB is a classic example. He did well at Inverness and also at Motherwell, but the stupid comment here would be to say he did well anywhere else. Renegade is right, his record at most clubs stinks. Looking beyond the record at each club, there is a worrying similarity in fortunes. Managed Motherwell, finished in the relegation spot only to be saved because of Brockville not being suitable for the then SPL. Went to Inverness, got relegated, went to Hibs, got relegated. At both Motherwell and ICT you could argue he was not at fault and both clubs bounced back well the following season once he had managed to bring in some of his own players, even better at Inverness because he was given a few seasons to entirely reshape the squad we now have .... He will not be afforded that luxury at Hibs and will be gone by Xmas IMHO.
  24. The TB graph looks about right .... and I would not argue with McInnes (349), McNamara (373), McCall (384). Dont think Tommy Wright was second best manager in the premiership but I guess the cup win propelled his points upwards. But once you get beyond the top 5 names, it gets a bit sketchy ..... Terry Butcher 6th? why? he oversaw a complete meltdown at Hibs. Derek Adams next? really? Gary Locke below all other managers in bottom 6 even though Hearts ended up as the form team in the division over the last couple of months ..... 147 - Neil Lennon - Celtic (RESIGNED) 317 - Tommy Wright - St Johnstone 349 - Derek McInnes - Aberdeen 373 - Jackie McNamara - Dundee Utd 384 - Stuart McCall - Motherwell 548 - Terry Butcher - Hibernian 604 - Derek Adams - Ross County 613 - Alan Johnston - Kilmarnock 614 - Danny Lennon - St Mirren (CONTRACT NOT RENEWED) 624 - Alan Archibald - Partick Th 626 - Gary Locke - Hearts 655 - John Hughes - Inverness Funny though .... Albion rovers manager James Ward ranked higher than Ally McCoist ... but the Ally Mccoist rankings show how flawed the system is. Go back to 2012 and he is in the top 200 in the world apparently, but the demise of the team from Govan drops him over time to about 1200 and he is only now climbing back up as his team are in a higher division than previous years so it is most definitely weighted unfairly
