  8. Week of Woe Our week of woe continued at Rugby Park as the misery worsened, not only by the defeat, but injuries to key players which will hamper our challenge for a top four finish over the next few weeks. Two second half goals from Paul Heffernan were enough to see off a battle weary Inverness as injuries removed captain Richie Foran and influential midfielder Anrew Shinnie from the action before half time. League Cup, no more. Scottish Cup, no more. And defeat at Paisley in the SPL will be followed up by the visit of Celtic next weekend. Aye, it's been a tough few days and it looks like getting even tougher. Ryan Esson got a rare outing in goal and Ross Draper missed out through suspension. Nick Ross started in midfield and David Raven returned after missing out at Paisley in midweek with an injury. Killies Mark O'Hara kept his place in the starting eleven but Paul Heffernan began on the bench, although he would play a big part in the outcome of this game after Cillian Sheridan limped off at half time. Capital Caley will have a full report when he recovers from his travels............ Saturday concluded an absolutely disastrous week for Caley Thistle. Defeated in a penalty shoot out to Hearts seven days previous and dropping three points at the Midden on Wednesday. The Caley Thistle faithful were hopeful that we could get over our League Cup heart break by storming into the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup. But an under par performance from the Caley Jags saw them crash out of the cup with a 2-0 defeat at Kilmarnock. It is the third time in twelve seasons that we have been eliminated from the Scottish Cup at Rugby Park, and probably our worst performance at Rugby Park in a long time. A number of the Caley Thistle ‘Juanjo’ fans made their way to the usual Killie assembly point, the Hunting Lodge. With it’s declining number of customers we fear that we won’t be back there despite the good hospitality over the years. I certainly hope it can be turned around. From there it was off to Rugby Park with the hope that we can extend our stay in the cup. Due to Scottish Cup rules, both teams had to have fewer substitutes than they would have had in an SPL game. Conor Pepper and Liam Polwarth looked on from the stand. The first half was pretty poor. Richie Foran received a caution after only a couple of minutes after a challenge on Mark O’Hara. It was a sluggish start from both teams and ICT were soon dealt a blow when Foran pulled up with an injury to be replaced with Philip Roberts. This was Roberts time to make amends for his League Cup penalty miss – or so we hoped. After half an hour both teams had half chances from far out but weren’t really testing Ryan Esson or Cammy Bell in the ICT and Killie goals respectively. Caley Thistle were dealt another blow when Andrew Shinnie had to come off with an injury and was replaced with new signing Charlie Taylor. Taylor impressed on his debut but the loss of Shinnie and Foran was a real blow to the team. Cillian Sheridan forced Ryan Esson into a good save just before half time but it was looking more and more likely that there would be a stalemate going into half time. Half Time 0-0 Inverness just couldn’t get going and any attempt at flowing build up play was just not working this time. Killie were starting to edge it and deservedly took the lead on 58 minutes with Paul Heffernan driving the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal after a unlucky intervention by Taylor went astray off the legs of Warren. Caley Thistle did carve out a few chances but never looked like they were going to score. With every attack, the ball would go astray, possession would be lost, balls over hit or timid shots at Bell in the Kilmarnock goal. New signing Jordan Gibbons replaced Nick Ross with ten minutes to go. But Kilmarnock were always looking like they would get the second goal and Esson pulled off a couple of good saves to keep Caley Thistle in it. However there was nothing he could do to stop Kilmarnocks second in the 85th minute. Ross Barbour assisted Paul Heffernan who slotted the ball into the middle of the goal to seal the victory with a neat back-heeled flick. Full Time 2-0 Despite elimination from the Scottish Cup there was some positives for ICT. Esson played well and commanded the box effectively. Despite shipping two goals the defence played very well. New signing Charlie Taylor impressed. However in general it was a poor team performance and the lads will need to really raise their game for next Saturday if they want to repeat their heroics from Celtic Park earlier in the season. For his composure and another solid performance my Man Of The Match is David Raven. Hopefully the whole team can click again against Celtic next week to get our title challenge back on track. This has been a week to forget. But we are second in the SPL. Despite our cup woes, we can still go forward in the league. Hampden however will have to wait. 10. to answer the OP - no ! rather spend the cash on the squad
  11. MLS starts up in March, that much of your post is correct, but most teams started training last week and on the first day of training he parted ways with Vancouver by mutual consent ..... he is no longer a player in MLS and is now a free agent.
  12. Not going to happen. Wouldn't suit our style of play and we can't afford his wages anyway. Its more likely he will be looking at playing for a Championship or top half League 1 side. Rumoured to be going to Panathanaikos ... although there seems to be a paperwork issue with his release from MLS. Portland parted ways with him on 17th January (bought out his contract) but all players are signed to MLS not to individual clubs and there seems to be some "issue" in finalising his outright release ..... but as a free agent he could sign for someone outside the window I think?
  13. Think I may also have worded my response differently to what I meant ... I should perhaps have said "legitimacy" instead of "identity" although both fit and are equally valid .... Dont think anyone would really look for additional perks as such. As you say, the members are all individuals so whether they are a part of any club/group is irrelevant as everyone is a member of CJT and has the same benefits. Whats in it for any "group"? The legitimacy of being able to say their club/group was a "a member of CJT", "part of CJT", "affiliated to CJT" or whatever wording was appropriate in the eyes of CJT. A sense of identity and a feeling their group belongs to something bigger that is the #togetherNESS of being an ICT supporter ! Whats in it for CJT? Potentially (a few) more members as the Scottish, UK, and worldwide diaspora may feel more connected to the club and obviously everyone in any supporters group aligned with CJT would have to be an individual member of the main body ..... Whats in it for ICT? Financially, probably nothing, but maybe the opportunity to market the club as having organised supporters groups throughout the UK and worldwide.
  14. I would rather we held onto current squad than hear of any signings. If we sign someone who isn't a loan or a player under the age of 21 then its usually a pre-cursor to the news that someone has left .....
  15. Other than perhaps feeling they can be a part of something, even 'loosely' .... I know they can easily get that simply by joining CJT and price is certainly no barrier, but as we have found over the years having an identity means something, especially when you do not live in Inverness ..... look at the "Internutters" or the Highland Marchers .....
  16. Buddy Hell Inverness suffered a league cup hangover in Paisley, going down 2-1 to St Mirren as danger men Esmael Goncalves and Steven Thompson scored the goals to keep the Buddies good form going. Billy McKay converted a penalty but despite plenty of good possession, Inverness could not make the breakthrough and were caught by a late Thompson header which kept all three points in Paisley, 2-1 the final score. It's not been the best week so far for Inverness, out of the league cup on Saturday, losing to St Mirren on Wednesday and this weekend another tough game with a cup visit to Kilmarnock to deal with. The joys of challenging for trophies. Terry Butcher once more bemoaned some missed chances for the second game in a row, but at least we are creating opportunities, we just have to start taking them again. No full report, but here's the highlights... 30th Jan 2013 Scottish Premier League St Mirren Park, Paisley St Mirren 2 - Goncalves (26), Thompson (82) TEAM: Samson, van Zanten, McAusland (Mair 46), Goodwin, McGowan, Carey, Mclean (McGinn 69), Teale, Newton, Goncalves (Guy 66), Thompson SUBS:Adam, Barron, Imrie, Parkin Booked: none Sent Off: none Inverness CT 1 - Mckay (pen.45) TEAM: Reguero, G.Shinnie, Warren, Meekings, Devine, Tudur-Jones, Draper (Ross 86), Foran (Roberts 89), A.Shinnie, McKay, Doran (Gibbons 89) SUBS: Esson, Taylor, Polworth, Sutherland Booked: A.Shinnie (85) Sent Off: none Referee Alan Muir Attendance 3065
  17. So me and Luvgravy can setup the Toronto branch too seriously though ... it was something I remember bringing up way back when I was on the committee of the Supporters Club many moons ago ... the idea of having 'affiliated' supporters clubs that were attached to the official supporters club and could feel like they had an identity within the supporters culture.... It didnt really fly back then, but given the low cost of individual CJT membership then maybe its something CJT should consider and potential members would embrace ......
  18. PLEASE NOTE: As this is a weekday game, normal site updates such as team lines, POY poll, league tables etc., may not be online till later.

  21. The fault is definitely north of the border as far as I am concerned ..... The International Transfer certificate, amongst other contract and eligibility related stuff, confirms that he is not currently serving a ban, or due to serve one from the English FA that would be applicable internationally ... ie. there is no impending ban in England. It has sweet (S)FA to do with any disciplinary issues in Scotland. The ITC should be consolidated with any paperwork that was in existence when he left Scotland to give a full picture ... ie. no ban from England, but an outstanding League cup ban from Scotland, ergo, a one match ban to be served. Putting the conspiracy hat on, I suggest Hearts knew he was banned, possibly because the player asked, and they asked the question, but after getting the all-clear from an inept bureaucrat (are there any other types in the offices in Glasgow?) decided to play him anyway ..... a risk they decided to take ..... and a consequence now up in the air unless there is a truthful explanation of why he was allowed to play
  22. Because the suspension was specific to the Scottish League Cup I undrestand that. The point I am making is that if the people are saying the suspension may have been in the first game of the following season when he was at Liverpool when he played games in Scotland after the final so the ban was for the Scottish League Cup only Ahh, understand you now .... its all getting as confusing as a cake run in Mount Florida ! Who asked for Jam Tarts? Will Jam(my) (ban) Dodgers do instead?
  23. Because the suspension was specific to the Scottish League Cup ... The SPL and SFA Cup are not that competition as you yourself point out in the last sentence. That's why i posted my 1 single question above .... WHEN was this ban served ? If it was served in the Scottish Cup or SPL then tell us ... If it was served in England then tell us. In both cases, it doesnt sound like it is possible as it was a ban in a specific competition not a 'next game' ban that crosses competitions (or organisations)
  24. Euan Norris had a shocker by all accounts and lets be thankful he didnt send Foran packing as well ..... sounds like we could have had little complaint about that.
