A few responses ...... The club do have an official facebook page (sorry cant post link as I cant access FB from work) and also an official twitter (@ICTFC). I know because I set them up for them. Neither are really used yet as the club are still working on their online offerings ... but they will be used ... The usage will probably be in a similar manner to how we use them on this site ... Every article posted on the front page of this site is automatically posted to our Facebook and Twitter pages and also to a newsfeed within the forums with no manual intervention required. We can then manually add other items or comments to FB or Twitter but the stories just automagically appear I would say 'bear with the club' on this one .... Based on comments from supporters, the online shop was priority #1 and as you know we worked with them to get that up and running before Christmas. The online videos were also high up on the wishlist and that came on stream at the same time. Overhauling the current website is also on the club agenda but the existing site, whilst perhaps not pretty is functional for now. As it stands, most information does go on the official site and the club now make a conscious effort to send press releases and other info to us here so we can also promote it.

WHAT DO WE THINK OF AARON DORAN SO FAR
Just for the record "doranfan" is not the player himself. I had to help the user setup the account and the email and IP addresses debunk that idea. Doranfan is simply someone who has followed his career so far.

Shane...
Given that Butcher has selection problems. Maybe he thought - like many fans on here - that Eric wasn't deserving of a start and bodged together a team which he thought could do the job??

10 team SPL marches on
The Hamilton chairman was on Sportsound earlier ... and he must have been in a greenhouse with a bag of boulders as he moaned something about people not considering fans any more (sorry was only half listening) ... As the Hamilton chairman is in favour of the current restructuring plan, Richard Gordon pushed him on it and asked why they were ignoring a poll showing 80% in favour of a different idea .... his response was classic .... "I am sure if you polled the OF fans you would get a different answer". He is not for turning and is definitely one turkey that will be voting for Christmas. According to this idiot, a poll conducted by the supporters, for the supporters, and open to all supporters, should be ignored and we should instead poll the supporters of two teams .... one of whom (the green ones) who are now trying to dictate the start of the season so they can play in a lucrative overseas friendly.

Stewarding issues
OK folks .... friendly warning .... topic in danger of being closed down. The topic is about the behaviour of stewards at St Mirren Park last week and even a slightly wider debate about stewarding in general. It is not a terracing or safe-standing discussion and although that may be relevant to stewarding we are certainly not going to let it go down the Hillsborough-Heysel-Bradford City route and be dragged further off topic. to do so would only allow the venom and bile that will surely follow if the last 3 or 4 posts are anything to go by. As an aside: Terracing was not abolished as a result of Heysel, it was abolished as part of the Taylor Report into Hillsborough and even Taylor observed that the terracing was not intrinsically unsafe in and of itself, it was the policing that was the issue in that particular tragedy. EDIT: After a number of complaints submitted by site members using the 'report post' function, I have hidden the initial posts referring to Heysel/Liverpool and several follow up comments (that would now be out of context). Lets stay on topic please.

County's best result of the season methinks ! We may take the proverbial out of JC but he's a decent manager despite what the Aberdeen fans may think. Is he taking JN with him ?

Richard Hastings Retires From Football
At the end of the day he was a solid (if unremarkable) defender for both ICT and for Canada, scored a goal (his only international one) that puts him up there in Canadian 'soccer' folklore, and has a lot of caps for his country putting him at the upper end of the appearance table. I was no huge fan of him, and thought at times he was too big for his boots, but so what, players should have ambition and an air of self confidence. However, you dont get 59 international caps - even for Canada - as a crap player ! I watched a few Canada games over the last few years and he was really solid in central defence in the 2007 Gold Cup (being named in the 'team of the tournament' best XI). Many Canada fans were not too happy at his recall to the squad in 2007 but his performances won them round and I seem to remember posting something to that effect back then. Good luck to him.

Stewarding issues
Toronto FC (and MLS) allows standing in "designated supporters sections". Basically for TFC that's the whole of the South Stand, 1 section in the main stand, and as of this year the North Stand as well (not sure if its all or just part). They also turn a bit of a blind eye to standing in sections of the main stand and east stand adjoining the defined supporters sections. Other sections (normal seats) have a no standing policy that is enforced. I have had a seat in the South Stand for each of the last 4 seasons and will be there again for Season 5 ..... In all 5 seasons, I dont think I have actually sat in my seat for more than a few minutes at half-time in most games !!! In general, the stewards at BMO Field are excellent. Dont get me wrong, there have been issues, usually with supporters from other sections trying to get into the supporters sections because of the raucous reputation that TFC fans in those sections have, but representatives of the supporters groups regularly talk to the club and get them ironed out. The club do also let the supporters groups have a degree of self-policing authority and it works .... Seems like TFC have 3 levels of stewarding. Level 1 is "Guest Services" which is who most of us see at every game. They direct folk to their seats, help those who might not know where their seats are, and generally make sure that while allowed to stand you are not misbehaving or standing on top of the seats etc. they exert a bit of control, but their role seems to be more of an 'assistance' function. Its usually the same guest services people at your section for every game and you develop a rapport with them that allows both sides to behave normally towards each other .... Level 2 is "security" and they are the ones that come in and talk to people or drag them out if needed. I guess 'guest services' call in these guys as and when they need to and although I have seen them be heavy handed at times, its usually because someone deserves it. Level 3 - which is one you dont want to encounter - is the cops. They come in, grab you, and take you to jail, no questions asked. Security call them in, or sometimes they wade in themselves if something is thrown or there is a fight etc. Cops over here carry guns and Tasers so you dont argue ! It seems to me that Scottish football has forgotten about "Level 1" stewarding and moved directly to "Level 2". Good stewards do not need to be ****holes, good stewards can hold a conversation with you on the same level and achieve a far more consistent and better result for all concerned. Not sure about boycotts but as fans we should be protesting the erosion of our "matchday experience". How you are treated while watching the game is just as important a factor in deciding to go to a match for some people as the actual game itself. The last game I went to at the TCS was an eye opener for me. I posted it here at the time, but the atmosphere was the flattest I have ever experienced. People around me who I had been coming to games with for years before I emigrated, and who were once quite vocal in their support of the team, and jovial slagging of the opposition, were quite literally now sitting on their hands, scared to make any wrong move for fear of ejection or being on the receiving end of an FBO. That is not enjoyment ... that becomes a chore, and chores are something you eventually find a way to get out of !

St Mirren -V- ICT : MatchdayThread
Scarlet. In my opinion it is NOT the BBC. They are simply broadcasting to the rules put in front of them. Those rules are dictated by the SPL (or for cup games the SFA) and in each case it seems to be restricted to broadcasting within the UK only. It is short sighted in the extreme as far as I am concerned, and the SPL seem to be in blissful ignorance to the fact that their product is not as valuable as they think it is, nor is it particularly desirable for the masses spread around the world unless it is perhaps an OF game. No-one (except us and any St M. ex-pats) is interested in a St mirren -V- ICT game. It has always been the case that live commentary of some games can only be broadcast in the uk. This happens when one or both sides have a live offering available on their site and have invoked their media rights. Understandable perhaps, and annoying too, but I can see the rationale and we have to live with that ..... but FFS, Open All Mics is not live commentary, it is a live discussion programme interuppted by "breaking news" if you want to put it that way. Whoever decided to go to the effort of insiting that this be geo-blocked is nothing but a bloody idiot with a hugely inflated sense of self importance and entitlement.
