  7. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/s...ups/8450310.stm ok, definitely think this is the correct decision now ... the article in the first post of this thread doesnt say anything about notification, but the link above (from an earlier story) says: "Despite Dunfermline's plea of ignorance, BBC Scotland has seen the list of suspended players, which includes Woods, and understands the same document was sent to the Fife club. ".
  8. totally agree and it is the case with reds (for violent behaviour at least) that they are but I guess the points system suffers from the fact that we have the SPL, SFL and SFA all running their own separate organisations.
  9. Its comparable to the punishment Brechin received so justifiable. I know the SPL used to issue a bulletin to clubs each week listing banned players for upcoming fixtures, but wonder whether the SFL and SFA do the same ... if so, there is no excuse. If they are relying on the club to "remember" from the previous season's competition then perhaps it is a bit harsh as a simple circular to all clubs at the start of each season's competition would solve the issue.

Indeed, I was wondering about that too .... seems that if a player, even a loan player from a division higher doesnt instantly pledge his life and that of his first born to ICT he is a traitor or no good !!!! What infantile rollocks ! Get a grip folks !!! He seemed to be decent enough for us, no world beater, but decent enough. TB said he wanted to keep him and none of us disagreed. When that didnt happen, TB has done the age old tactic of praising the player in the press presumably in case he doesnt get a new contract at the Dons and thinks that TB rates him so he will sign for ICT later on !! From McGhee's comments it seems he may have a future at Pittodrie so lets face it, a player will go back there rather than stay on loan at a lower division club. If it doesnt pan out, then he could come back !
  11. It certainly reads like you think the board's "contractual retardedness" is at fault for us not getting a cut of the deal ! Perhaps you should be "staggered" that we got anything when he went from Dundee Utd to Celtic given this "retardedness". There are many things we can slag the club, board or major shareholders about, this is not one of them
  12. Given the resources at his disposal, I think Jeffries has done a decent job over a number of seasons. If we were managerless and he was jobless I wouldnt be unhappy to see him in the home ICT dugout.
  13. has anyone ? The same thing can be said about football clubs as airlines ...... "How do you become a millionaire ? ....... start of with a billion pounds and buy a football club / airline"
  14. We have no objections to that as we are always looking for ideas to keep the site fresh, dynamic, and ticking over, especially when we get spells like this where we have postponed games or when it comes to the close season. Renegade's quiz was a good one and took a bit of thought for both the questions and answers .... but if anyone wants to post one in the relevant forums that are either non-ICT or part of general nonsense that is fine .... all we ask is that you try to keep it suitable for all age groups :tonguecheek:
  15. Scotty replied to Renegade's topic in Caley Thistle
Thats an interesting point as the pitch with its camber sloping down from the centre to each wing (more for drainage than anything else) and its maximum size dimensions was attributed in the early days as one of the reasons for our success .... we were a team who could use the wings and took advantage of the wide field. I guess over the years we have become less cavalier in our playing style relying more on the direct route than the passing game that usually sees us do well when we attempt it.
  16. Scotty replied to Renegade's topic in Caley Thistle
Our playing surface was the biggest in the country at one point as it was the maximum allowable size. It was bigger than Hampden !!! Not sure what it is now or indeed if the size is still the same as I dont get down there very often :P
  17. other than guessing at Craig Brown as part of the duo and then changing it to Paul Hegarty just after I posted as it made more sense, no, I knew the other answers :029:
  18. 1. no idea - will go for Paul Hegarty 2. Gianfranco Zola 3. Kevin Muscat 4. Iain Stewart (82 in 144 games) 5. Managed most international teams - something like 18 !
  19. Scotty replied to snowball3117's topic in Caley Thistle
    one of those will happen
  20. Aberdeen just keeping their options open - nowt wrong with that.
  21. I am not usually a fan of being completely insular in decision making but on this issue I think we should be. I know this may be a knee-jerk reaction to a "once every 20 year" problem but maybe it is time to look at doing something radical and having a season that suits our weather conditions ? We may not have a foot or more of snow every December but we know that most years around this time the weather is going to be bitterly cold and roads may be a bit dodgy etc and overall it makes getting to and watching the game a less than pleasurable experience .... If you add the inability of the local authorities to deal with "severe" weather on top of that then its just folly to continue with a system that may not be broken but certainly isnt optimised ! Scottish football is dying on its feet and has been for many years so perhaps as part of a (hopeful) rebirth and rejuvenation under Levein - who we are told wants to get his hands dirty at all levels - we can not only shake the whole system up by looking at the how and why but also look at the when in terms of summer football. It makes no sense to have no football in the potentially good months of May, June and July but to persevere with it in December, January and February when its usually brassic ! The biggest argument against it might be the timing of European and Global Competitions such as the Euros and World Cup but as we no longer qualify for them regularly, why worry about them !!! Once we do actually qualify for these things then perhaps we could tweak dates to better suit everyone ! As for UEFA competitions like the Champions League or Europa Cup etc, again we are not exactly powerhouses in these so forget about them for now (other than being somewhat flexible with re-arranging games for teams who are in them), get our own football sorted out and then build these properly into our calendar at a later date. The SFA should be looking to places like Scandinavia, Russia, Latvia and any other nations who take a winter break and seeing what works there ..... heck, if enough nations in Northern europe sing with one voice over the timing of competitions maybe even UEFA would sit up and take notice (unlikely I know unless Germany, England, Spain or Italy sign on to the idea but had to throw it in there).
  22. The average temperature over the last 30 years or so for both Jan and Feb are exactly the same. I said February as my own memory tells me it is usually worse ... point being though, a Christmas break (which is probably what the officials would suggest) probably wouldnt actually cover the worst weather in either month That actually sounds good assuming February is mild ! As the current Scottish season tends to be 9 months, Feb-July and Aug-Nov would work and you could tweak the July break to allow for potential Scottish involvement in the first round of any Euros or World Cups
  23. This coming season (starting in April) will be the first time that MLS that has actually taken account of FIFA dates. Up until now MLS teams could have games scheduled during international dates and I remember one TFC game where there were 9 players missing on international duty yet the game went ahead. Now that MLS is actually listening to fans and clubs about international dates things should be even better. If I were back in Scotland I might say "sacrilege" "leave our footy alone" or other such stuff but having experienced it I would say summer football is good. MLS tend to schedule Toronto's first couple of games of the season away from home (weather can still be dodgy in late March / early April) but after that, I would agree with Scarlet that there is no better feeling than being able to go to the footy in decent weather and watch a game in T-Shirt and shorts rather than a parka and long-johns !!!!
  24. no to winter break as no-one knows if and when winter will arrive !!!! Traditionally, the coldest month with the worst weather in Scotland is February and a break in December/January would do nothing to help that ! Summer football is probably the answer but I doubt that will ever happen !
  25. problem with that though is the worst weather is normally in late Jan early Feb and the Winter break would probably be scheduled for December ! April - November season just like MLS !!! Toronto FC in an open air stadium havent had a single call-off :D
