ICT -V- Ayr Utd : Matchday Thread
not sure if it is because RS was doing commentary of the Aberdeen/Celtic game and that is only available in the UK, but the link above for open all mics is reporting no program available. However, it can be accessed on the BBC website here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/7742209.stm

Reporters Wanted !
Not a bad idea. Given the responses in here so far, I think it may end up being a two-tier system. publishing an email address for submissions is a good idea and would work for those who might want to send in an occasional article. However, for those who want to contribute on a more regular basis, we will add them to the editorial group and you will be able to access the discussions about who is doing what in terms of reports, previews and ideas for other articles. I have had a number of questions via PM and a few comments here saying "what do you want me to do" or "let me know what you want" .... but our idea is the other way around !!! Apart from previews and reports from each match which do tend to follow a format or pattern and need to be submitted by a certain time, and the odd press release from the club, the content is more or less up to the users to come up with. We are not going to dictate things, nor are we going to be handing out assignments ..... write what you like, whether its breaking news, human interest stuff, opinion pieces, or even fanzine style humour .... so long as it is truthful (for news) or not too over the top (for fanzine type stuff) then we will consider it. I have a story outline in mind but this will likely be worked on by many people within the Ed Team. You are however welcome to submit your contribution. Pub Guide could actually be a good thing you know (but we aint paying your expenses, especially if IHE is involved !!!!). We did have one once but it faded away ...... As mentioned above, apart from the regular articles we need (previews/reports) we are leaving the rest as a pretty blank canvas so you are welcome to join the team as a regular contributor and suggest stories or submit occasional stuff as you want to.

The editorial team is different to the mod team (although all mods are part of it by default) so any differences we may have had with you as a group are inconsequential. I would also add that gender and age are not barriers to this either. If someone wants to help out, and the quality of the stories they produce is acceptable, then they are welcome to be part of the team.

Legally they could, yes. they would just need to come to an agreement with the SFL in the same way that DAFC did and then organise the technical and logistical portions of it. However, as money is tight and we have seen staff cutbacks and such like, dont expect too much too soon and dont expect 'live' coverage. In one way, the relegation from the SPL has been somewhat cathartic ...... the club seem to be realising once again that fans do matter and I dont think it is betraying any confidences to say that they are more receptive to working with fans and fan groups than they were when we were in the SPL. Because of site discussions a few weeks ago, Live Audio Commentary is one of those things we have put forward, and working alongside the Supporters Trust and the Club we will try to see what we can do on that front. If we could add video highlights packages to that, then it would be great but again, it will take time so please be patient. In the meantime, as most of you know, we have setup the Twitter feed and from what I hear, the club are quite impressed with this. We have been using Twitter mainly on matchdays so far but we are going to try and expand the scope of what gets published on there so that Club and Trust information may appear on non-matchdays. All in all, its a case of "slowly slowly catchee monkey" ... the ideas need to be pitched, and the club need to be comfortable that its not going to hit them in the pocket, and that they are not uneasy about people genuinely wanting to help...... I am happy to say that this seems to be getting through.

We have a vacancy ... or several vacancies really. The pay is lousy (ie, there is none), the conditions are worse (you have to speak to me and CaleyD), and the thanks are virtually non-existent (although mistakes will be jumped on from a great height by the forum members). Ok, so now the disclaimer is out of the way, here is the description. As some of you may know, we have an "editorial team". This team comprises of a few bodies who provide our previews, reports and other stories. Unfortunately, in recent months, this team has dwindled as people are too busy or have other things going on in their lives ..... so we are looking to freshen it up a bit. We are looking for people who are willing and able to provide stories, previews, reports and such like for publication on the site. You dont need to be a professional journalist or anything like that, just willing and able to string a few sentences together to form an interesting and coherent story. Even spelling is not a huge issue as thats what spell checkers were made for !!! The main stories we tend to look for from our editorial team are things like match previews & match reports but there are loads of other things that can be done too .... you could scour Teletext or other websites for ICT related stories (or just use the feeds we publish on the board), you could help write a story about something that has appeared in the papers or on the official site, you could think ahead and do a story about something that is up and coming ... for example, Ross tokely is likely to make his 500th appearance this season so a review of his career would be good. You could even be a "photo-journalist" and write a story each week accompanied by photos of our fans descruibing the day out and atmosphere which we would publish and/or add to our gallery (since I think its still forbidden to take photos of the actual match unless you are accredited like Peter, Trevor and Gordon). If you have a particular interest, you could even do a regular column for the site - we have some ex-pats on here, what about football in your area or any funny or ICT related things. I intend to get back into doing this myself as the Toronto contingent of ICT fans is ever growing thanks to my constant chatter about them. So if any of that has peaked your interest or if you have any ideas and are interested in helping out the website while getting your thoughts and opinions published, please let us know.

You are correct. I made a mistake and will amend the "reason for edit" However, at the end of the day, its just semantics. Regardless of whether the copyright is Dunfermline's or the SFL's it has been made quite clear earlier in this thread that publishing it on YouTube or ANY similar type of site is a breach of copyright. Our terms of service on this site, which ALL users have to agree to on registration makes it quite clear that we do not allow links to pirated footage or material that knowingly breaches copyright ... I can understand the first few posts, where people were just trying to help out and make it easy for others, but the minute Buffy came on and pointed out the copyright issues there ceased to be any excuse that was valid.

Livingston FC
Perhaps those at Dundee realise that a similar fate could befall themselves, or indeed any other team in Scotland. Suggestion on P&B that Dundee are doing it because they are also "technically" insolvent. Obviously they have their money man but they are still in debt (albeit less) and dont yet own their stadium (although long drawn out negotiations are taking place on that front) ............ on that basis, perhaps we should back them too ..... it would fair wind up the league leaders County as well :P

Dougie Imrie has to be considered ..... Juniors to SPL in about 3 seasons ? A few of our players - like Rosscoe, Hastings, and one or two others might be worthy of consideration but theirs was more of a gradual rise than a rapid rise to prominence ..... or how about Alan Smart although his flame didnt burn that brightly or for long

MLS is about as close as it gets in football terms. The league own the players contracts and all teams have the same salary cap to work within. There is no real transfer market as such and players are swapped or traded for things like draft picks or additional player slots. For example Toronto might swap a US player with a US team and ask for one of their "senior international" slots as part of the deal. This would allow Toronto to sign an additional international player (ie. a non-Canadian over 21). also, when players are transferred out (eg Maurice Edu → Rangers) the MLS team only get a proportion of the fee, not the whole fee and can only use some of it to ease salary cap issues, the rest must be used for "develpment" in things like grass roots football or youth academies etc. The DP rule does allow a bit of a workaround but for now, quite a lot of teams are on the same level. It will be interesting to see if the ridiculously complicated "roster" rules are changed over the coming years or they do something with the salary cap ... but for now it can be quite complicated but definitely a leveller.

Injuries - Imrie Crocked
I am sure he does .... dont worry though, we are making (or obtaining) new smilies for the new version of this forum software so they will be more "expressive" Definitely hope so. Regardless of what some might say about his "ego" an on-form Imrie can sometimes be a matchwinner for us.

thanks Buffy. I did mention copyright further up the page but thanks for clearing that up. Interesting set of terms and conditions from the SFL. It actually seems more restrictive than the SPL regulations !!! http://www.dafc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...1361903,00.html

I guess the scan will tell us for sure but TM4TJ isnt usually prone to posting duff or scurrilous info ... however a [source] would be good as the official site is definitely playing it down if its as serious as TM4TJ says.

We have to wonder whether the photographer in this picture is checking for some sort of filter to add to his lens or just p***ing himself laughing

Season tickets
To me the interesting figures would be 1. Total number sold - dont know the details but as I said above, it has been suggested that this is healthy 2. Retention Rate - what % of season ticket holders renewed. (Toronto FC for example has something like a 99.5% retention rate) 3. New Holders - how many ST holders this year are new and were not holders last year. Analysis of #1 isnt that important as far as I am concerned. If it close to last year's figure, that is good. However #2 and #3 tell the real story. #2 - How many of last year's holders didnt renew? and why? Was it the SPL factor or was it something else about the matchday experience. The club will know these figures and perhaps they might approach people and do the football equivalent of an exit interview to see the points that people raise .... heck it might even bring a few of them back if they had a legitimate gripe that they thought might be attended to. [note: In Toronto FCs case, the retention rate is thought to be almost 100% because tickets are like gold dust. Its not that TFC give us unbelievable football every week, or that the owners come along and plump up seat cushions or anything like that, its in no small way due to the waiting list for new season tickets. If you give up your season ticket, there is something like a 10,000+ member waiting list and you wouldnt be able to renew it just like that .. so fear of losing access is a big driver .. not my driver, but I have heard many say this] #3 - Like #2, this is important to know as there can be many reasons for people buying. Was it the lower price? was it because a kid suddenly became of age where they needed one? was it someone returning after not wanting to, or not being able to afford to go to SPL games ..... Again, if they analyse these figures, perhaps it can help shape future season ticket offerings.
