Young Debutant Duff
If Grant is out, then Duff has to start, end of story. He made a mistake on his debut and it cost us a goal. He is inexperienced, and **** like that happens in football. For the rest of the game he was as adequate as the rest of the team. Think back to our own debut in the SPL and there were 10 or 11 players who all made mistakes and one of our most experienced players cost us dearly .... Duff will improve and should not be dropped.

Scotland Squad Announced
I am in two minds over this. IMHO, it is good to try and get some fringe players in for friendlies and see if they can do a job for you in the qualifiers, but every game, friendly or not is ranked by FIFA and if you put out an experimental team and lose, you slip down the rankings ......

Maurice Edu
subject to work permit - which he will get no problem. From my personal point of view, its a blow as he is an exciting young player and most Toronto fans were looking forward to seeing him develop at TFC before he inevitably moved to the Premiership (Aston Villa almost bought him last season after we played them in a friendly). He was excellent last year in a mediocre team and deservedly won the Young Player of the Year trophy (Rookie of the Year in MLS-speak). But this season he seems to have suffered what they call the "sophomore jinx" where a good debut season is followed by an average second season. quite a few TFC fans are saying its because his ego has exploded and he seems to spend more time on his website or facebook telling people how good he is but even an average Edu is still a decent player. More worrying is the fact that Mo Johnston, while not bringing in anyone to strengthen a struggling team before the transfer window closed last weekend, has, in the last two weeks overseen the departure of a couple of capable players in Jeff Cunningham (99 MLS goals) and now Edu. In the case of Edu, he seems to have actively recommended him to Walter Smith in a move that will strengthen Rangers but weaken his current team and that may well be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Johnston.

attitudes like that are why we lost to Hamilton !!! We get rightfully pissed off when someone has that attitude about us, and have given teams a doing on the basis that we would show them we werent there just to make up the numbers .... Hamilton have already shown they are no Gretna and in fact are a decent hardworking and well put together team so what divine right do we have to win. We may have been rank rotten today, and despite my praise for them, Hamilton were not that much better. The only goal was the result of a mistake and unfortunately, thats just football. We do need to improve and I think Bronson is correct - consistency is one of our big problems (other than tactics that dictate a 4-5-1 at home) and initially I would like to see us do one simple thing, and one thing only, to help with that consistency ..... play the ball on the feckin deck !!!!! We ALWAYS play so much better when the ball is on the deck ... every supporter can see that, why can no-one else.

According to radio commentary, Duncan was carrying a slight hamstring injury before the game and by the end of the first half was struggling, hence the substitution. Do people read threads ?

Sportsound MOM is more accurate i think (normally) ... the stadium MOM is usually a home player and picked by a person or group who are well oiled from hospitality.

Sounded like he had an easy clearance to make but it squirmed under his foot and into the path of Offiong. Also sounds like it was others at fault that he got as far up the field though !!!! Rooney on for Duncan at HT (hamstring injury)

seemed to come from nowhere, even commentator description was **** because they were probably turning round getting ready for the HT pies

Maurice Edu
Toronto midfielder Maurice Edu looks likely to be playing at Rangers in the next week or so !! According to various blogs on this side of the pond, as well as the TFC fans website and such esteemed publications as the Glasgow Evening Times, MLS have agreed to the transfer in principle (they own the rights to all players in MLS) and Toronto FC and Rangers have agreed a fee in the region of $5m (?2.5m roughly). The way MLS transfers work, TFC will get 67% of it and MLS get 33%. TFC are then allowed to use a certain amount of it towards 'allocation money' ($500k) - that money can be used to sign players or to pay a player a bit extra so that their official wage is under the salary cap ..... the remaining cash ($2.85m) is supposed to be used for 'development'. Edu was the MLS young player of the year last year and I have a feeling that after an initial struggle, he may be quite good at Rangers ... IF he can get used to the goldfish bowl that is Glasgow and also keep his ego in check !!!

For those that think we are doing nothing to sign a defender (and you may be right, I dont know) ....... can I ask you one question ....... Did you know we were going to sign Rooney on a three year deal as opposed to a loan ? No ? Neither did the rest of us. The club have shown - for once - that they can conduct business quietly and that is definitely a positive. I will criticise them where it is due, but this time I have to praise them as they got it right. I am sure Brewster has his eye out for a decent defender to bolster the squad but he is either doing it quietly (so as not to alert other teams) or he quite simply has not found anyone who is (i) available, (ii) better than what we have, and (iii) affordable.

LiveBBC coverage ICT-Hamilton.
Won't know if I can get the coverage until the links go up or not .... they used to be up several days beforehand with a disclaimer to say "only available in UK" for games we wouldnt get. Be nice if they still did that so I could plan my weekend (or look for alternatives ) The open-mic was sometimes available to overseas listeners and sometimes not, hopefully the rules surrounding that are clearer now. Its not perfect, but at the end of the day, its decent enough if you cant get live coverage of the actual game. I even hear your dulcet tones from time to time Charles even if you are somewhat more refined than some of the ones screaming "goal at <insert ground>".

Ok, we are quick to hand out negative comments so for once let me just say a big well-done to all concerned. This guy looks like he has potential, we have heard mostly good things about him and although it seemed to be dragging on a bit in regards to finalising his loan deal, we now know that it took so long because we have actually signed the lad on a three year deal

SPL announced a few already ...... They dont currently have a TV game listed for that week and all are shown as 3PM on the Saturday but I would think that Hibs V Hearts might be the prime candidate .... unless of course they move us to the Monday ? They do however say CONFIRMED FIXTURE CHANGES Sunday September 21 Kilmarnock v Celtic - 4pm Live on Setanta Sports Sunday September 28 Hibernian v Rangers - 2pm Live on Setanta Sports Sunday October 5 St Mirren v Rangers - 2pm Live on Setanta Sports Saturday October 25 Hamilton Accies v Rangers - 12.30pm Live on Setanta Sports Sunday November 9 Kilmarnock v Rangers - 2pm Live on Setanta Sports Wednesday November 12 Motherwell v Rangers - 7.45pm Live on Setanta Sports Sunday November 16 Hamilton Accies v Celtic - 2pm Live on Setanta Sports Saturday November 29 Hearts v Rangers - 12.30pm Live on Setanta Sports

no work permit, no play, not even as a trialist ..... think back to this time last year with Marius !

Good Luck To Q.O.S
Definitely wishing them all the best tonight. I too have a soft spot for QOS after having a good few nights bevvying with their fans during our climb up the divisions ......

Striker on Trial
Fair play to Brewster - He doesnt seem to be afraid to take a player on trial but tell him he is not good enough if that proves to be true !!! The source does however get one thing wrong !!! Guy Kerr has played for the first team. He replaced Ian Black in the 85th minute of the 6-1 victory over Gretna on 3rd May 2008.
