  1. Its quite simple really. People cannot vote more than once using the same account as the voting is not cookie based it is account based. We do not allow guests to vote as they dont have accounts. If someone has multiple accounts then yes, theoretically, they can vote more than once by logging in to the different accounts and voting. As for detection - its manual, we simply check that the same voter has not selected the same option more than once. Its usually a mistake, but if we find any user abusing it or trying to rig the polls by registering multiple accounts we can and will remove the ability to vote in polls on a user by user basis. We pretty well know which users have multiple accounts and what usernames they go under so we will keep an eye out for this type of 'freeping' Its not a perfect system, and for us, its not as easy as the system we used last year, but until something better comes along, it will do.

I would recommend this section as the first place to start reading ..... http://caleythistleonline.com/club-guide/ict-history
  3. I like the neckline - far prefer v-neck to the round neck but the downside is the collar, it looks like a somewhat subdued throwsback to the 70s ! (mantis will explain ) Here's the pic for those that cant be bothered going to the other link
  4. What is "a high number" ? 10, 20, 50 ? I know a few who have (or have had) varying degrees of hatred towards ICT because of the merger. Some like Kavs or Mr Douglas have stuck to their guns and vowed not to set foot inside the stadium and I can respect that, others have found they couldnt do without football despite having varying degrees of animosity towards the way the merger happened and some of the figures involved and I can respect that too. At the end of the day, ICT is not Caley nor is it Thistle, it is the product of their union. ICT has its own fans and has no right to expect or demand that followers of the former teams fall into line and support them. I and many others chose to move onwards from following Caley to supporting ICT and I would hope that those who chose not to can respect my decision in the same way that I respect theirs.

  6. As much as I am critical of certain aspects of Brewster's management, I think he does have a good eye for a player and he has shown during this close season that he either has contacts or is prepared to look outside the normal comfort zone of Dingwall for bodies to enhance the side.... Rooney from Stoke, Bechan from Spanish side 'Hercules', Wagaluka from Uganda !!! With the exception of Rooney, we dont know if the others are any good but it does show he is prepared to look wherever necessary to bolster the squad. I think we all know that we need to strengthen the defence as that now seems to be our weakest area (especially if we get Rooney) and it would be folly to assume that Brewster doesnt know that as well. The fact that he is saying something else in public is inconsequential. I am guessing that our apparent lack of activity on that front is down to two or three factors .... Duff impressing CB, A lack of quality available at a price we can afford, and maybe, just maybe, ICT doing their research in silence for once (a very positive move).

There may have been subtle changes to the arrangements for this year, but this was the state of play regarding the BBC and Club media rights last year which I put together for another little project. As you can see, the BBC has quite a few restrictions on what it can show and the length of each clip !!! Still, doesnt excuse them from picking the wrong highlights within those clips !!! Video Coverage Clubs: Clubs have the right to broadcast video of all games live outside UK, after midnight in UK for a live Setanta game, or after 10pm for non-live games Setanta: 60 live games per season within the UK & Ireland STV: Extended highlights from one game per week and clips from all others TWI: International TV partner - distributer of live games worldwide (excluding UK) ... to be replaced by Sportfive next season (08/09) who will have "Exclusive live television broadcast rights in the territory by means of analogue, cable and digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast and simultaneous broadband / IPTV broadcast of a minimum of 60 live matches in each Season. Highlights and promotional programming." Audio Coverage Clubs: Clubs have the right to broadcast audio of all games live worldwide. I believe they can stream the BBC feed or like Hibs, use their own commentators. BBC: Territory - UK Only if either club has exercised its right to broadcast. Audio Rights: Exclusive right to broadcast live audio full match commentary across BBC Radio Scotland?s analogue and digital radio services (including via interactive TV) for all Clydesdale Bank Premier League matches (Matches) Exclusive right to broadcast live audio full match commentary across BBC Radio 5 Live?s analogue and digital radio services for up to ten Matches in each Season during the Term Non-exclusive right to stream live audio full match commentary on-line via bbc.co.uk for all Matches Non-exclusive right to stream on-demand audio full match commentary on-line via bbc.co.uk for all Matches for up to seven days after each Match Non-exclusive right to stream on-demand audio commentary highlights and clips on-line via bbc.co.uk for all Matches for up to seven days after each Match Non-exclusive right to make on-demand audio commentary highlights and clips available for download in the form of a podcast on-line via bbc.co.uk for all Matches for up to seven days after each Match Audio-Visual Rights: NEW for 2007/08 Non-exclusive right to broadcast up to 20 minutes per Outside Broadcast Match and up to 5 minutes from all other Matches (subject to a minimum of 2 minutes from any Match) for use in a BBC highlights programme broadcast on linear (traditional digital and terrestrial) television channels. The BBC will have the ability to simulcast this programming via bbc.co.uk Non-exclusive right to broadcast up to 2 minutes of clips rights per Archive Match for use in BBC highlights, news or feature magazine programming broadcast on linear television channels. The BBC will have the ability to simulcast this programming via bbc.co.uk Non-exclusive right to stream up to 5 minutes of clip rights per Match or 2 minutes of clip rights Archive Match on-line via bbc.co.uk in the context of a news item or match report for up to seven days after the news item has been launched or the Match has been played. Audio-Visual Holdbacks: In addition to the usual UEFA regulations the following holdbacks apply across the SPL fixture card: Matches played on Saturday ? no use by BBC before 6pm on Sunday Matches played on Sunday to Friday ? no use by BBC before midnight on the day of the match STV outside broadcast selections may not be used by BBC until after they have been first broadcast by STV in its highlights programme In addition, BBC would not have the right to broadcast highlights on linear television channels during the course of a live Match. Piracy Protection: All audio visual output to be restricted for reception in the UK only and for a maximum period of 7 days from initial broadcast / upload The Clubs .... There have been no changes to what the Clubs can do online as a result of the new audio visual portion of the deal with the BBC. The following holdback restrictions still apply: If a game has been covered live by Setanta in the UK and Ireland then Clubs can exploit on New Media platforms (internet or mobile) audio-visual coverage (entire match or highlights) of SPL matches in which they are involved after midnight on the day that the game is played. If a game has not been covered live by Setanta in the UK and Ireland then Clubs can exploit on New Media platforms audio-visual coverage (entire match or highlights) of SPL matches in which they are involved after 10pm on the day that the game is played. There are no changes to the Clubs? ability to exploit new media rights on a live basis outwith the UK and Ireland Clubs should continue to be aware of UEFA?s Blocked Broadcasting hours. http://www.uefa.com/uefa/news/kind=8192/newsid=19817.html holdbacks apply from now until the end of season 2009/10.
  8. Hopefully Burley will go further down the route that if you are consistently playing well for your club side then it doesnt matter who you currently play for ....
  9. Yes, to be written off by the pundits is almost as good as the Spiers "I have many hats and I will eat them all" comment from a few seasons ago ..... Players have less pressure on them media wise and a mentality that they will show these gormless idiots just how little they know. Long may it continue ... so long as they continue to be wrong !!
  10. Mike's a good man and a Caley Thistle supporter to boot despite being transplanted to Glasgow in his working life.
  11. If I were to name any ICT players, the only ones that might get considered right now, and even then for experience with the squad rather than starting players, would be Cowie and/or Black but I suspect they need to have a good season before that is even a possibility.
  12. Who do you feel is worthy based on recent performances ?
  13. I wouldnt deny that he has an eye for a player. Those mentioned plus the likes of Imrie and Barrowman tend to show that but there are still questions over his tactics and his man management. If he can improve those then who knows, he may well go on to get the plaudits he will deserve by then. Fair play to him for bothering to do the right thing with regards to praising the youngsters. It should be part of his job, and the youngsters will appreciate it but lets face it, not all managers would actually do it. Also, fair play to him for appearing to get it right on saturday. By all accounts we were not brilliant but we got three points, away from home, in the season opener, and against a team we had never beaten before .... there's a few parts of that equation we dont normally do well in so credit where it is due.
  14. mmmm, just ask jailender about those kinda comments ..... they can haunt you !!!!! Glad they might be singing it to us instead of the other way round ..... come the end of the season we will see who is still smiling LOL

We normally receive photos from Gordon Gillespie (home games only), Trevor Martin (H & A games plus other 'bonus' galleries), and Peter Paul (H & A games) but have only been receiving from Gordon since the start of pre-season. We will inquire with Peter and Trevor if there is some reason the photos are not arriving.

BBC probably dont realise your IP address is a 3G uk-based one ! I have the same problem, except I am in Canada so my IP is legitimately non-UK !!! Getting anyone to provide SPL coverage to us poor ex-pats (even Setanta Canada !!!) is
  19. cant see that this topic is serving any purpose really.
  20. Dont care who scores so long as we do score !!! [note: 'Dick' now removed from swear filter. We used a readymade filter and some words in it may have been allowed before. let us know of any anomalies you find during normal use of forum]
  21. and Good luck to Chris Pozniak ..... a former Toronto FC squad player who signed for the Dees today after impressing as a trialist at the weekend.
  22. I admire your thinking but the practicalities are somewhat different as I will explain below. As a shareholder, I will also want answers to some fairly serious questions if there is a huge hole in our accounts once the dust has settled around Marius. I tend to agree with CaleyD's sums on this whole thing and even if we pay him his cut in full, then we should still have turned a profit on the sale as well as on the signing a year ago. anyhoo, back on topic ..... If you read Ian Broadfoot's book, you will see my name mentioned a few times and one of the times is in relation to a scheme I dreamt up called the "Pay A Player" project. The idea - which emerged when we were very close to a financial precipice before DFS did his juggling and magic act to make our debt disappear - was that fans would join a scheme that would take anything from ?10 upwards from their bank via direct debit each month and that all money raised would go to Steve Paterson to either enhance conditions for existing players (thereby keeping our best ones) or to pay the wages of a new player. Basically, Steve was going to get the money and so long as it went to one of those two situations, he could do what he preferred. It got decent press coverage, I got stopped in bars and on the street with people telling me it was a great idea, and some of the club's smaller sponsors even contacted me to say they would consider coming on board because this way they knew their sponsorship would be used where they wanted it to be used. In the end, it never got off the ground, not because of lack of trying but for two main reasons. The first was David Sutherland's financial turnaround of the club which made the idea less pressing, and the second was the apathy of people when the idea of parting with money suddenly became the reality of parting with money. For some reason they were happy to talk the talk, but when it came to parting with cold hard cash, the list of interested parties shrunk quicker than Gordon Brown's popularity. I was only asking for a minimum of ?10 per month with the proviso that people signed up in something like 6 month stints at a time so the expenditure for someone who joined and then left would only be around ?60 ..... If I couldnt get ?60 from many supporters, then I fear ?500 is a figure that most would scoff at, especially when most have other financial concerns of their own.
  23. It is hosted by the same people ... the club's actually run the content and features side of things (in most cases). I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but it is my understanding that PTV offer the clubs the basic platform for nothing more than a percentage of the advertising revenue generated. It is therefore (like we were on sportnetwork) essentially a free site. PTV also do the work of sourcing that advertising taking away any effort on the club's part. This was a big selling point for the club at the time as they are basically making money for allowing PTV to sell advertising using their name ...... That is not a criticism by the way, its pretty good in my eyes. However, where it falls down in my eyes is that many clubs choose to use their website revenue to develop their sites and offer some of the additional features that PTV make available to clubs as 'bolt-ons' (like the audio/video or <club>TV sections) . ICT have not done that ... maybe they arent making the money they expected?

That will be the same forum and fans who have sponsored him for the last how many years ?
  25. As everyone gets used to the new forum, some of us (myself included) may have forgotten about some of the competitions we have running. The SPL Prediction League: This is the same as last year's competition and can be found using the features menu under Prediction League or at this URL. http://predictions.caleythistleonline.com If you took part last season, all you need to do is login with whatever username and pasword you set, 'join' the the 2008/09 league, and start predicting. If you are a new user, all you need to do is setup your prediction account (it can be same as your forum one if you want) and start predicting in the 2008/09 league. This Prediction League starts this week. NPL Prediction League: Gringo's Prediction League takes place in the NPL forum and rules/regs can be found there. Again, this starts this week. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...hp?showforum=12 The Napsters Prediction League: If you took part in this last year, please note that this started up last week and some (including me) may have missed it. Membership of this league is restricted so if you want to take part, please speak with CaleyD. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...hp?showforum=20
