ICT -V- Dundee Utd : matchday thread
SP - I listened to the Gretna game via the main BBC Radio Scotland site at bbc.co.uk/radioscotland and finally got the other feed when SMEE posted that link although I dont know if it was SMEE's link or the fixing of the problem as mentioned in the email that made it work. I know that the links on bbc.co.uk/sportsound were not working. Anyhoo - I have chastised others for taking the matchday thread off-topic before, so if we need to talk more about audio problems, lets start another thread somewhere :004:

ICT -V- Dundee Utd : matchday thread
Just got a reply ...... Hi Scott, Thanks for pointing this out to us - there was a technical glitch with this stream which was blocking it to non-UK users. We've relaunched the stream so fingers crossed you should be able to get the second half. Thanks again and hope this helps Yours Stevie Miller BBC Scotland Sport in other words, they blocked it the way they normally do with most games these days but realised they had screwed up when they got this message !! "This feed is not loading. Neither team has exercised its media rights to block coverage outside the UK so it should not be blocked. Please advise .... Well V Gretna is not much fun for a Caley Thistle fan !!!"

whats the problem with flags Mr Smith???
As CaleyD mentioned, there is a ban on flag "poles" in grounds and has been for a few years now. I imagine that MS is only quoting the rules at you. suggest you establish a dialogue with him or other officials of the club to see if some compromise can be reached. It may also be worth contacting one of the groups you mentioned to see how they got round this rule.

I can still remember the feeling in that part of the ground. looking at the clock thinking only 15 minutes to go, only 14 minutes to go, only 13 minutes to go (you get the idea) .... looking round at my fellow supporters with a ****-eating grin on my face only to see that everyone else had the same big grin too .... no words needing said, just a nod as everyone acknowledged their belief that we could do this to everyone around them but still scared that it would all go wrong ..... that was the longest 15 minutes of my life. Then when it all ended, the bedlam in one part of the ground as the rest was virtually empty. the noise, the chanting and then the team running up to our end in a line, hand in hand and sliding to the turf to acknowledge the fans ..... a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life .........

Ritchie Hart
Bottom line is that he was by no means assured of having his contract renewed by ICT (3 months to go and comments in the press like Hart, Barry and Patti still have a chance to earn a new one - very uncertain) so it would appear he has decided to drop down a level (I do believe County will be in Div1 next season so it is only 1 level) and guarantee his future. Its a short career and players need to make the most of it. Also, as has been said elsewhere, he wants to stay in the area for personal/family reasons (a bit of a change from most who leave !!) so County or Elgin would have been the only choices. I think he has made the right one. For his contribution to ICT we can only say thanks. He was, at times, an integral part of a good team and like others who have left before him such as Golly, Caff and others he has certainly played his part in our success. The Rockness incident was certainly unfortunate for both the player and the club and to clear up confusion from above, the offence admitted to was nothing to do with a joint but posession of cocaine which officers found on a CD and in another wrap in the car. [LINK]. We could argue till the cows come home (and have already done that) about whether it was bringing the club into disrepute or something he was doing in his own recreational time but at the end of the day it did affect the club negatively in the press and that is part of the cost of being in a higher profile job. If it were you or I then barely a word would be mentioned, but if it is a successful and well known person in any field, be it entertainment, sport or business then its gonna hit the papers when you do something stupid, criminal or both. Whatever your opinion of this episode, both sides of the argument can make valid cases and therein lies the problem. ICT were in a no-win situation. Sack the player and possibly have to deal with some costly legal machinations for unfair dismissal centred around the claim of it being in his own time, or reinstate him and incur the wrath of some for condoning drug use. In this case ICT made what I think is a sensible decision. re-instated him to the squad and let him play out his contract as it was only one more season. I have a feeling that Richie could have played superbly in every game from now to the end of season and still not have been offered a renewal as both ICT and a significant number of fans wanted a clean break. I am sad to see him go as I like his style of play, his passion and his commitment, and I can also forgive him for his stupid mistake (I've made a few myself, just never ended up in court over them) but it is probably the best thing for all concerned.

Who will score ICT's 1000th goal ?

Aberdeen and Kille were (reportedly) interested, but not interested enough to pay anything for him before the end of his contract. Brewster believed otherwise and it will either backfire on him or we may have got a gem. He banged the goals in at junior level, he hasnt done that badly for Clyde and seems to be a player who may fit right in with the Caley Thistle ethos we have all talked about in the past - ie. someone who may not be the best player in the league but who has said he will work his socks off to prove he is capable at this level. Discipline may be his biggest weakness and Brewster has already commented on that. I liked his comments in the paper and think that all those who are slagging him off before he has even got started are bang out of order. We are supposed to be supporters yet we seem to want to behave like a tacky tabloid in grinding him into the dirt before we have even seen what he can do. Give the lad a chance FFS. If he turns out to be crap then fair enough, slag him off, slag Brewster off, slag the DoF .... but until he has had a chance to show what he can do give him at least a bit of support !

Questionaire from ICT
nope: I am on the mailing list for the newsletter and also a shareholder so assume they didnt get them (yet?) Are you a season ticket holder ? Perhaps they only went out to them ? or maybe it was because you had previously complained ?

Webster - any connection to ICT
Maybe he just likes good football and has the sense to come and watch ICT :001:

St Mirren -V- ICT : Matchday thread
Charles - You are correct. When there is a 'blocking' problem that problem is one which is created by the SPL and the clubs themselves, the BBC are only adhering to their contract. However, it appears that on Scarlet's computer a notice on the BBC website showed this weekends ICT game as not being available overseas when in fact it was and he almost missed it ....

I had organised the Caley Inn bus to the original game - and donned the kilt and doc martens - and I thought my boss was winding me up as we drove down London Road and he told me the game was about to be called off. Sure enough, standing in the queue at the turnstiles we were told game off and that was that ... It took just as long to get out of Glasgow as it would have done had the game taken place - as we lost stragglers all over the place. For the replay, I ended up organising one of the buses that the club supplied via the sponsors and we had a great time ...... what a night, what memories .... and heres a few more memories for you Radio-intro from Radio 5: http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/radio-intro.wav Charlie being interviewed after game: http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/charlie.wav Steve Paterson being interviewed after game: http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/pele.wav Radio Report: http://caleythistleonline.com/audio/radio.wav

OK - enough already with the (off topic) pictures which are really "anything goes" territory ... the last one nearly made me choke on my cornflakes.

Kheredine Iddesane is commentating and he is pretty clueless. Jim Duffy is the co-commentator and dont think he knows much about us either. sounds like we are under the cosh now - we need a 2nd goal or this is going to go pear shaped.
