  1. Munro is good at what he does which is to get in good tackles and clear the ball. One of the reasons he gelled so well with both Darren Dods and Bobby Mann is that they could actually play it out a bit better than the "hoof" (at times). I like the idea of Granty as captain. it is fitting for him to have the armband as a stalwart of the side and a loyal senior ICT player but I also wonder if it is asking too much of him to do this task in the midst of all the turmoil in the background. Is he any good at office politics ?
  2. the 'secret' is on another thread ........ One player, who despite his varying form has the respect of most fans, and who had agreed a contract but didnt get around to signing it because of a club delay that was not his fault gets his withdrawn whilst another who has in the opinion of some been jerking our chain (or whose agent has) still has his on the table despite the big words of last week that it would be withdrawn if not signed by the weekend. what a way to build team morale. I guess you did say you would withdraw the contract offer if it wasnt signed by the weekend Craig .... we just didnt realise you meant someone else's !!! Now I agree with those who say Denzil may not be a prolific SPL goalscorer, but he is in most peoples eyes probably our #2 or at worst our #3 striker and there are a few that could/should be out the door long before him. Like Barry Wilson - who still has something to offer - the guy actually wants to stay at the club and is being treated like a piece of dog**** in a complex internal political chess-game. "allegedly"
  3. as will Gretna Vs Inverness CT fixture on 5 April.
  4. I dont believe that a lot of what is currently rotting our club is Brewster's fault but what I have heard today convinces me that the rot has to stop and it would seem while not there when it started, he has become infected by it too. I am sure Mr Bannerman or others will be along in the next day or so with the full story, but I am about as angry as I have ever been as an ICT supporter.
  5. Going by the accounts, our directors have not normally taken anything as payment. I would guess that some still get the odd freebie or perk here and there and that has always been acceptable given the time they give up for free although most do pay their way. I believe last year's accounts were the first time what amounts to a wage payment to a director has been lodged and although high, I dont think it was overly excessive. Shareholders have never received a dividend as the club has very rarely posted a profit. I dont think anyone is putting anything in their 'hipper' but I kinda know what you mean about the 'klingons'
  6. I am getting little bits of information from here and there and if what I am hearing is indeed true then it is Brewster's contract that must be torn up and torn up NOW. :sillywave: This club is being torn apart by people with no real love for it and it has to stop !!!!! :33: I am spitting feathers right now I am so angry :008: Its probably just as well that I am on this side of the Atlantic.
  7. One final update to this thread. I have received an email from Mike Smith as follows: With regard to the recent comment by "Caley4life" which you have now locked, I have to say his starting point is not what we think was agreed at the meeting. Our Safety Officer and myself met with him on the morning of the Dundee United game following the Supporters Trust David Sutherland?s suggestion that he contacted us before he tried to bring a flag on a stick into the ground. We had a what we thought was a very positive meeting, we appreciated that his desire was to purely increase support for the team but explained that we currently had within the Club?s ground rules, a prohibition on flags with sticks or canes on safety grounds as they could be a hazard or used as a weapon. This was in line with other SPL clubs. We did make the positive proposal that if he could get a number of like minded people we would look to put them pitch side on the gravel behind/beside the home goal prior to the game and at half-time as at Aberdeen. The Club would also make provision to store them on site. Our understanding is that Mark went away to look into this whilst we would talk to Aberdeen as to their arrangements. Also to other SPL club During the discussion we certainly said that there was a policy at Hampden Park for Scotland games of not allowing any flags on sticks/canes into the ground and indeed our Safety Officer was with a local group who had to take the sticks out of their flags - and these were small flags. Obviously we all saw at Hampden Park yesterday for the CIS Cup final, flags being admitted and I have been in contact with all the SPL clubs this morning asking them for a further update for their views on the current situation. Whilst ultimately it?s the Club and Police?s decision on a risk assessment, as with all these types of issues we do take try into account what happens elsewhere. I am more than happy for this to be posted either in my name or paraphrased by yourself. Regards, Mike Smith Regarding the Safety Association comment, Mike added this: Our safety officer and myself are both members of the Safety Officers Association and the SO has recently completed what was the second only FSOA(S) course.
  8. Ok. This thread is not serving any purpose that I can see other than lashing out at a club official because something he said about the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium was not replicated at the national stadium ... a stadium he has no control over the policies and procedures for. If he is guilty of anything it is not of lying about the matter, but of not clarifying whose rules they were - local (ICT), national (SPL/SFL/SFA) or international (UEFA/FIFA) as it seems quite clear from both LG and Maimie's response and from the responses when the whole flagpole thing was first mentioned that there is indeed a rule in place (regardless of who's rule it is). As Kingsmills has pointed out, some of the wording used by some posters in this thread is dangerously close to defamatory and for this reason I have decided to close it. If anyone feels the need to complain about this closure, please do so to the board moderators who can discuss it between themselves and re-open the thread if they think closure is not warranted.
  9. Thanks guys - think we needed this thread :004: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1JLLR3cYLPA&...feature=related

stick your scarf in the back window .... thats what I do !!!
  11. If that is the quoted reason then it is utter ***** !!! Do you know who sat there for many years through the lower divisions ? ... yes, it was ME :003:, Big Stu, Calum, and Stu's brother Ross (although a lot of the time Blair or Willie Fisher would get his ticket as he was working away). To one side was P&B, Sian, ATT (Above the Tunnel), and a few others, to the other side Doresboy, Guzz, Uncle Albert, Kenny & Barry Wright etc ..... We might have got worked up and shouted "words of encouragement" over the tunnel to ICT players and opposition alike but I can 1000% guarantee that there was never a stick or any other object poked down in the direction of any player, nor a desire to do so. If that is what is being said, and it is being said about seasons in the lower divisions then I would like more details as it appears to be defamatory.

  13. I would suggest you contact him again directly or via the supporters' trust. I dont think he was lying to you. It has always been my understanding that flagpoles & sticks are banned but if there were loads at Hampden today then that may need clarified - I would bet that it has something to do with the thickness of the pole/stick or maybe to do with the governing body ... SFA / SFL / SPL ? As for surfing flags, dont think they are banned yet, just frowned upon

dont think we can recall him (or Wood) - the loan was extended to end of season and there was no mention of a recall clause although one might exist.
  15. so do I !!!!! but I will settle for better reliability in the new datacentre (hopefully)

  17. bottom line is that nobody knows what the SPL will/would do ...... and the lack of any comment on their own official website (the SPL's i mean) seems to suggest they havent got a clue ! fo every article saying there will be relegation, you can find another that says no ..... No relegation - daily record
  18. nope... this has already been answered several times, but here goes again ..... if Gretna fold then all games they have already played will be void and the points will be deducted from whichever team won them (whether that is Gretna or the opposition). Future games wont exist so there will be no points to dish out. The final league table would reflect 11 teams playing each other 3 times (to the split) + post-split games Final league table for top six would have them playing 30 +5 = 35 games, bottom five would be 30 + 4 = 34 games
  19. they will just change the rules .... its not like it hasnt happened before !

    cant argue with that.

Its the old cliche but football is a short career for most players ... not all of them can make it into coaching, become managers or TV/Radio pundits and I have no issue with any player trying to get the best possible deal for themselves and their family that might make it a little easier when they have to revert to the "real" world, get a normal job and all that. We would all do the same in their position. I can see where Duncan is coming from with regards to the testimonial ... what good is it as a sweetener if the club are going to move the goalposts somewhere along the line and he has quoted a prime example of that happening not just to any old player but to a player who was the club captain at the time .... I said it before and I will say it again ..... we do not know the details of what he was offered but I would indeed re-sign him if he is prepared to accept a decent offer in line with what other first team players get (assuming the club have actually made such an offer) but not if his (or his agent's) demands are that he be put on a par with Niculae as he doesnt warrant that. As for agents - the only polite thing I can say is "not a big fan of them" :023:
  22. I meant to comment on this thread but got waylaid with administering others ....... I am delighted Rossco has signed on again. He may not be the most skillful player in the SPL but we have had 100% effort and commitment from him for a long long time. solid, dependable and loyal, another true ICT legend. :021: On another bright note - have seen comments on a couple of other websites indicating Wyness is about to put pen to paper on a 2 year deal.
  23. At the end of the day, all the furore over his contract is not his fault so I congratulate him for getting into the squad and hope he gets a chance to play and maybe do well.

Like Golly & Caff you mean ? or like Mann, Teasdale, Bagan or others who were discarded by the club (and, it has to be said - by the fans too) at one point or another. And therein lies the problem ... Those who rate him are scratching their heads at why he can blow hot and cold, and those who dont rate him are scratching their heads at why others are bothered ! As I said above - I would indeed re-sign him if he is prepared to accept a decent offer in line with what other first team players get (assuming the club have actually made such an offer) but not if his (or his agent's) demands are that he be put on a par with Niculae as he doesnt warrant that.

I think the old heads have this one !!!! RD -when on his game - is one of the unsung heroes of the side quietly mopping up stuff and performing the onerous and unglamourous task of a defensive midfielder. Not for him the surging runs of an attacking midfielder or a winger, not for him the half dozen goals from midfield each season, and not from him the last ditch crunching tackles that get defenders noticed and congratulated. Instead, you get a "journeyman" defensive midfielder who on his day can be the glue that holds the side together but on others can be cruelly exposed. If it were up to me then RD would indeed be offered a contract befitting his status which would be as a regular first team member. Bearing in mind that none of us know what has actually been offered then I would also say that if he is holding out for Niculae style wages then he is living in cloud cuckoo land but if the club are penny pinching and not offering him a similar pay scale to that of other first team regulars then it is they who need to give themselves a good shake.
