The Brewster Effect...
Birdog, you hope I am right, I hope you are wrong ... and there is only one person who truly knows the answer ..... I guess time will tell interesting to note though that the idea of him leaving ICT is seen as a negative idea .... which kind of answers the question as to whether he has done enough in my eyes to finally be forgiven/welcomed back to the fold.

Michael Frasers save
not sure I agree - looked on the footage I saw that he was about half a yard offside - very tight decision at least and arguable either way. bollocks !!! Proctor had to walk for that one. He was last man by a mile and although not a spectacular foul, it was a foul which denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and there is only one thing the ref can do in that situation and that is to red card him. I doubt he will get much of a hard time about it from CB or the fans as he basically sacrificed himself to save a goal.

The Brewster Effect...
I was critical of his appointment (or like others, more the manner of it), I was skeptical of his ability (based on 3 wins out of 30 at DUFC), and I was angry at our board for the "spin" around the whole farcical circus they created However, on quite a few threads, I said I was prepared to give CB a chance, and even after the Well game, although questioning his substitutions (or the timing of them), I still said give him till after the transfer window to see what he can do ..... I am happy to report that I could very well have been completely wrong about his ability and the last four games may have put a seal on it. The Well game aside, we have done pretty well since he came back, what i saw today was a team that was working hard for each other and wanting it. no signs of an outfit lacking morale or togetherness. We talk about the ICT curse applying to players .... and with the exception of Robson, most have suffered it .... I guess it must be happening to managers too. Pele at Aberdeen, Robbo everywhere he goes, Brewster at United ... but not at ICT. Birdog ...... A man who could only win 3 of 30 games at United but seems to have a magic touch at ICT will not want to move quite as easily as before. I believe he may well be in this for the long haul as he has already seen that the grass is not always greener on the other side .....

Michael Frasers save
Yup - can argue with the above. The save was from the very top drawer to push away what would almost certainly have been a stunning goal and he also had the presence of mind to try and keep his eye on the ball as he and the ball dropped to the deck after the save ... using his feet to further block it in the melee that followed. We applaud players who score "the winning goal" and frequently attribute those players with winning the points, but that save from Mikey definitely won us points today. Even though everyone was excellent, both Mikey and Cowie must jointly accept the honour of being regarded as ICT's matchwinners today.

no. but it must come close.

Black's behaviour
whatever he said to McGeady ended up with McGeady getting booked :015: :015: It looked like there was a bit of a tussle and McGeady squared up to him. The Black of old might have lost it on the scotsman Irishman, but fair play to him he said something and it was the other guy getting the card :001:

ICT V Celtic : Matchday Thread
Hey Glebe - your in Ottawa right ? guess we are getting it slightly better than you here in TO. - last time i looked outside it wasnt that cold (-10 or so) and we had only had about a foot of snow so far this morning but its still falling. They say this "storm" is going to be the worst we have had for a few years, and they also say it came all the way from Texas. I guess they really do make things bigger down there :015: :015: Onto the game itself, I couldnt get anything for the first half - audio, video etc as all legitimate avenues are blocked to me. There is quite simply no "legal" way to watch this game in your house on TV or over the internet in Canada. Although ICT have the capability to offer this to us all for a fee (via PTV's pre-existing broadcast platform), for some reason they choose not to do so and ignore any mail on the subject that might explain the legitimate thinking behind this stance.. So, I have to admit, for the second half, (and for the first time this season) I fired up one of these P2P sites and watched the game via TVAnts on my PC. The morality of this may be questionable, but the legality is muddy .... I am in Canada, our website servers are in the USA, and the TV channel was broadcast from China (in English) so nothing in the above equation is going anywhere near the UK. Anyhoo, it meant I actually got a decent feed for the second half with only minor buffering issues. The goals were taken well, and the save from Mikey near the end was top drawer as it was actually a double save ... hands first, then feet on the way down. Thought Niculae had some nice touches but his lack of pace was shown just before he got hooked when he could have been clean through but looked for a foul for having his shirt tugged ... (maybe he was knackered, he did seem to put in a decent shift). I thought we played very well, and the crowd sounded quite noisy too. Shame I had to resort to this to see the game but as I said, if there was a legitimate way to watch this game and pay ICT or the SPL to do so, then I would happily do that.

ICT V Celtic : Matchday Thread
The only option is to turn to P2P links - but none of the two I can find have decent quality - 10 seconds picture every 5 minutes or so ... so switched it off. SP - the galling thing is that every time I have asked the club about "<club> world" as supplied by PTV for other sites, there is no answer Cowie just made it 3-2 BTW :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015:

ICT V Celtic : Matchday Thread
Mark Brown doesnt save penalties ....... :015: :015: anyhoo - I am going to do something more interesting for a while, like shovelling snow or doing the dishes ..... really hacked off that there is no legal option for listening to or viewing this game. ICT - virtually the only team in the SPL that cant be bothered to offer an audio/video service to fans ... and even more galling when their website provider has it on virtually every other site they provide for other teams.

ICT V Celtic : Matchday Thread
PLEASE NOTE: I will not be enabling the normal ICT live update module, nor will there be audio reports within the final match report as this game is completely and utterly blocked in every possible manner to those of us overseas.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
quite like that idea ..... was wondering whether a wiki format might work for that ...... as for local advertising, the answer is yes and costs are negotiable based on who it is, what it is, and whether the advertiser has some form of affiliation with the club or this site ...... if its for yourself, then give me or Don a PM and we can discuss.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
Improved quote capabilities WILL happen We will look into other possibilities for POTY voting, although to be fair, the current way - where we put links in the matchday thread, down the right side of the forum (if you use the little + button) and on the main site have meant we are getting a decent amount of votes cast. we will look at it but the big issue with POTY voting done the old way was the amount of time taken to collate it. Unlikely to happen as even the commercial forum software can only handle ignoring the actual posts not the ignored user's quotes inside someone else's post. You shouldnt be ignoring anyone anyway ... you're a mod and should be reading everything :004: Any user will be able to have a blog ... including you. I believe the software we are considering can also do a "company" blog so we may also be able to have a site blog to go along with any user ones.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
some interesting suggestions coming in ..... wouldnt say all are practical, but interesting nonetheless .... I must re-iterate though, that the plan is not to find things we have to charge people for, but to enhance and improve what we have got and only charge a premium for features whose costs cannot be absorbed by our meagre advertising income.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
no and no. we will definitely reduce the number of smilies available but no plans to restrict their use. A webcam at the stadium would be an idea for the official site not this one although when i suggested it a few years ago there were mutterings about media rights .... guess they would have to turn it off during matches !

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
we disabled it because it was adding extra queries to the database and had the potential to slow the site down a little. didnt think it was a crucial feature.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
Laugh at County - possibly. we can give it some thought. the old one was just a static page with some dodgy images, but maybe there can be some ideas for enhancing it. Who's Online - not sure what you mean? you can see who is online now if you look at the bottom of the front page of the forum. Anyhoo, the (proposed) new forum software also does this quite well too and will also allow you to see who else is viewing threads you are reading etc. Fees - I agree and that is why we will never charge for access to the site, the forums or for the core features we include even though they cost us money. The advertising on the site just about covers our yearly costs for hosting, software, and suchlike. There may however be some premium services introduced that users can choose to subscribe to (or not) and if these cost us money to setup, implement or maintain, we either need to charge for it or get a sponsor for it. The suggested email service is one such service and we are asking users so we can gauge whether there is a lot, a little, or zero interest in it.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
Could we please keep this particular discussion on-topic and limited to the features of the website rather than the users of it. Myself or Don will routinely delete anything that we think is going off-topic in this thread. Its probably going to take us 6 months or more of work to develop, test, and roll out the new or improved features and then launch the updated version of the site. It will be a lot of work for Don and myself and will also involve other people in beta-testing so we want to keep this discussion on track. We do have have some firm ideas of what we want to include, or improve but the purpose of this thread is for users to give us feedback of the types of things they would like to see included or improved or to give a reaction to ideas we might ask about (such as the site email service mentioned above) so that we dont spend too much time (or money) developing ideas no-one will use.

Site Suggestions and Ideas.....
I believe this will be possible. :004: - if all goes to plan, users will be able to have their own galleries pretty much within the forum, and also their own blogs within the forum which can be hosted blogs (ie from this site) or pulled in from other blogging sites.
