I think the problem was due to the fact that my paypal has CDN as a default and the exchange rate was a little off. I have now changed it to pounds by default and 12 should now mean 12 :018: We gave you an extra month on the sponsor membership level. Looking at you lying on a hammock sipping cocktails when you thank me gives me a few doubts. :thumb04: mmm, yup, better change that one .... dont want everyone to think we relax and do nothing while living of site donations LOL.

I liked that one ... even though I thought I wouldnt.

We have added this as an announcement but are also putting it in this thread as we know some of you only "view new posts" and may not see the announcements !!! Note to all users: Last night we had to disable registrations on the site for a short period of time. This action was taken because "spambots" have been attacking hundreds or even thousands of sites that use the same IPB software that we have installed on here (as well as other popular forum packages such as VB, phpBB etc). Spambots register then attempt to post porn links or pics all over the place. Our existing security measures meant that only 1 account of the more than 75 that were attempted made it through validation and was able to post, but when they did make it through, we can assure you that the single post made was more than enough for us to take this very seriously !!! We have now gone from 'red alert' to one level below. We have added a couple of anti-spam questions that require human input to the registration form and for the forseeable future (ie. until there is a fix) we will also be requiring admin validation of all new account applications. We apologise for the inconvenience and will lift this restriction as soon as it is safe to do so. The makers of the software are working on a fix which should be released today. It is not clear if this will be a simple tweak which we can deploy immediately or whether it will be a full blown version upgrade that will need to be scheduled. When we know more we will let everyone know. If you are trying to register and are having a problem, please contact us via the contact form in the info menu and we will be happy to help real users create an account.

Heck ... what a choice to make ... I am going to cheat a little by choosing a few that are a "series" of films. Virtually any James Bond film (especially with Connery, Brosnan, Craig or even Lazenby, not so much with Moore or Dalton). If I had to pick just one, then surprisingly it might be Die Another Day from 2002 which was Bond 20 and contained many subtle and not so subtle references to the previous 19 films. Halle Berry in a bikini also helped. I also like Daniel Craig and hope he might do a few more as his appearances seem to be more in line with the grittiness of Connery's version of Bond than the true awfulness of Moore. Lord of the Rings Trilogy. whether you like the story or not, the films are stunning. Star Wars Parts I-VI. OK so phantom menace wasnt exactly awe inspiring but taken together this set of 6 films is almost as imaginative as Lord of the Rings and raised bar for space movies. Braveheart. Not exactly a total masterpiece but as a patriotic Scotsman I like watching this film. Dark Knight. I really enjoyed this film. It seems you either love it or hate it. I am firmly in the love it camp. Honourable mentions must go to other films like: City of God (and City of Men), Apocalypto, Silence of the Lambs, Matrix Trilogy, Alien + sequels, Chinatown, French Connection, Monty Python films, Saving Private Ryan, 2001 Space Odyssey, Jaws, Ringu (original Japanese version), Green Mile, Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum ...... I could go on (and on and on) but I wont. Lets just say, I like films and have seen a ****load of good ones that I think are excellent.

Can see him predicting a 2-0 win for Dundee United and citing the reason as being the "dramatic improvement in the club under CL". Allegedly, his dislike for ICT and his constant predictions of defeat for us has less to do with the club itself and more of a dig at the man who let him go when he was part of the backroom team at DUFC. If given the chance, I doubt he will miss the opportunity to highlight how "good" CL is compared to a certain previous manager !

Personally I dont mind 'play on words' comments in most threads but in a thread like this I think it is in bad taste. It is not reflective of the vast majority of responses on here but it is not a bannable comment imho. even if Mr Asterisk is the only one with this viewpoint, he is as entitled to it as the rest of us are in wishing Stevie all the best in attempting to beat (or control) this addiction.

many thanks. payment received via paypal.

Selective quoting, gotta love it. indeed ! I think we can all acknowledge that the first thought is to get it on the boards and have a laugh and a joke about it or express outrage or whatever but at the end of the day although some users may see no harm in it, it IS a man's reputation (and quite probably career) we are talking about so its only fair that we apply the site rules as we did. I heard many versions of the same rumour over the last week and therein lies a big part of the problem ... the same rumour has loads of different versions and with each telling becomes more and more embellished. which one is right? Is any of it right? As and when FACTS emerge the "line that shall not be crossed" will move just as it did with Richie Hart. Some posts over the weekend which got caught up in the mire may not have warranted removal but this was either a mistake or due to the fact that they would no longer make any sense without the offending posts. for those who posted sensibly and found them removed, I apologise. for those who heeded the moderator requests to stick to the site rules, we thank you and for those who continued to push the limits, it is noted (or in some cases already dealt with). I think many of us, myself included, have done this and in the context of a discussion forum that is fine. We will not (and have not) - as suggested by the Jailender on P&B - ban countless numbers of people just because their views are not positive or agreed with our own, nor will we take our lead from the club and say nothing negative ourselves (just look at my rant about Wyness' contract if you want confirmation of that ... even if I did get it totally and utterly wrong .... oops, I forgot, according to certain people on P&B I also cant admit to being wrong even though I have spent a lot of the last 15 years doing just that!!!)

I just want to add a little to this thread after reading and receiving comments on here and reading comments on a (now closed) thread on P&B. Until this morning, I have been nowhere near a computer for the last 8 days and was not actively involved in any of the so-called censorship. Having now read the posts that were removed from view, I can however confirm that my reaction would have been similar if not stronger had I been around. I fully back the actions of the moderator(s) who had to hold the fort when the **** hit the fan. There were something like 9 moderators in the Innes pre-game on Saturday so I know those who were on the site had their work cut out !!! Why would my reaction have been similar? Its simple really and has nothing to do with who is posting the rumour or because I have joined the nationalist socialist party of the 1940s as one defamatory comment made about me on P&B suggested. The reason I would have done the same is that this site has a legal duty of care to ensure that we do not allow postings to remain which may be defamatory to the person involved in any rumour or where the content of such rumours may eventually be used in the legal arena. We also have a rule in place - and most of you are fully aware of this - which does draw the line when it comes to the personal lives of players, management or officials of ICTFC. Other sites may be a little more lax in what they allow, or may draw the line further over and that is their lookout, I dont tell them how to run their sites or do any back seat moderating that is not my job or my right as a free member of their sites. My main concern is for this site and its content. This is why we moderated discussion about Ross Tokely's personal life a few years back, it is also why the Rockness/Richie Hart incident was moderated and why discussion of the latest rumours have also been moderated. I would however say that the moderation of subjects like these is a constantly changing environment. The Richie Hart situation was probably the best example. We could not allow discussion of the details when the story was not in the public domain. Even though many of the things we had to moderate in that story proved to be true in the long run, we had to watch what we allowed as it was not yet in the public domain. when more details emerged and more things were published as fact the line moved over somewhat and allowed users to discuss a few more of the specifics, the line then retracted when he was charged as restrictions are harsher when a matter is before the courts and when the case was over, people could discuss the details freely. The only thing we really removed after that were comments which called him a "junkie" or made claims that were not established as facts. We have always had a set of guidelines in place, and we will apply these as the moderators see fit. Sometimes we can allow latitude when the subject is not likely to be "explosive" but at other times, users simply have to realise that we have to stick to them rigidly to protect the people involved and also the site, its owners and its moderators from legal action. How would you have felt if a handful of posters had led to the site being hit with a publication ban at the weekend meaning discussion on every forum and thread was closed down? I know that I wouldnt have been pleased, and I am damn sure that there would have been a long thread on P&B asking what the hell happened at CTO !!! At the end of the day, we do our best to allow free discussion within the guidelines we have (and we will tweak these from time to time if the situation warrants it or a memebr makes a good case for us to do so) but inevitably we will make mistakes or irritate people when their posts are hidden or removed but I can assure you we dont do this kind of thing for fun, we do it so the site can retain the integrity that I hope we have shown for the last fifteen years. This is a postscript - I just wanted to add my own response to a couple of comments made on P&B as I dont have the opportunity to do so there as the thread is closed. I strongly object to the term "nazi" when used to describe myself or any member of the moderating team. I am not, and never have been a member of the Nationalist Socialist Party and find this description offensive and defamatory. I am seeking advice on this as the person making the comment has now used the term once too many times to describe me personally. We do not have "countless users" banned. On 4 separate occasions we have allowed the handful of banned users to come back with no strings attached and no grudges. Right now we have a total of 4 bans in effect. 2 were imposed in September when a user registered twice and then spammed the board with advertising (some of you might remember the threads), the other two were new users who came on on Saturday and whose only purpose seemed to be an attempt to stir up trouble in the rumour threads. I am not "scared" that I will not get any info if the site upsets people with its views. The site has upset people for the last 15 years and if the person who posted that would like to look back on either my posts or CaleyD's posts for the last 12 months even, they will find plenty in both of our postings that riled many people at the club. As I have said before, I will criticise where I think it is due, but I will also praise where it is merited. CTO does not have a history of people being banned simply for airing their views. As I said above, on 4 occasions we have allowed the handful of people who have been banned to come back on with no grudges and no repercussions. A few are still here. A few have moved on. This new forum software gives us many more options than an outright ban so I would imagine that amnesties will probably not be needed in the future.

Its not really under my control, the paper approached Gringo so its up to him. There are weeks when work committments make it difficult for him to write something and thats why others in the editorial team do it ..... I am sure he will make a comment on this thread at some point.
-
LOL - I was sure I saw Barry holding up an 8.5 award from the dugout, but we gave him a 9
-
As I said in the thread relating to myself and CaleyD's meeting with Kenny Cameron and others
-
Gingo (or one of the editorial team) supplies them with something every week, they dont actually lift anything from the site.

Dont get the chance to vote on this very often these days ... but I seem to agree with most Black, Imrie and Vigurs got my points. Was very impressed with Black on saturday, thought Imrie played well and Vigurs is definitely a very skillful young lad. Not in the points, but I would also highlight that Russell had a quietly effective game too.

I believe this is the second season.

The "rumour" I heard when back in Inverness was definitely Leeds. There was no mention of any other team. I hear what you are saying about debts C1C3 ... but lets face it, a side like Leeds would view signing a player like Cowie as 'downsizing' from their normal aspirations as they are forced to search out quality players for sensible money instead of mediocre ones for mega money. Having said that, would like to see the club offer him a good deal to stay and for him to consider it.

so just click the "view new posts" link in your member bar at the top and thats all you will get.

I also echo all the good wishes expressed in this thread.

To be fair to them, I phoned again yesterday to ask why my confirmation had not come through and spoke to someone quite nice this time so thats one good one out of 4 calls !!! The person couldnt guarantee me that the confirmation would come (takes several days for it to go through the system apparently) but I do have their name and an assurance that the instruction re: luggage has been added to the booking and will be visible to staff at Dalcross. We will see !
