  1. Ok. Can the grammar police go home now and let us get back on topic? I am happy enough that RD has signed a new contract, and hopefully he, the club, and his agent have let common sense prevail and come to a decent compromise. RD is not a world beater but when on his game can definitely be one of our unsung heroes ... especially if he can cut out the unforced errors. However, I am less happy with whoever has let it drag on for so long - be that the club for not making a decent offer or the player or his agent for holding out for something unattainable. We will never know who was to blame, or whether they all had a hand in it but it has all added to the turmoil we are seeing spewed out in these last few days, weeks and months. one 'problem' sorted, only 36543 to go !!!
  2. I would have to agree with hislopsoffsideagain. As he has said, he does not get weighed in on current stories so lets get back on topic !!!

  4. no. Mr Brewster has. allegedly.
  5. you are of course correct. you just cant get the mods these days :023:
  6. I think they are all aware but maybe not as able as central belt publications to do anything that rocks the boat. In Inverness, the biggest sporting team is ICT and you dont bite off the hand that feeds you or who fills a lot of your column inches every single week. It perhaps surprises me that the P&J dont do more hard-hitting stuff about ICT but then again we would probably write it off as Aberdeen bias. In the central belt, most papers are regarded as having a leaning towards one side or other of the OF and those are the teams they try to keep sweet. The rest, and the half of the OF you dont lean towards are fair game. ICT are usually fairly inconsequential to these papers unless there is a really juicy story like the victory over Celtic, Ross Tokely's personal life, SPL Promotion issues etc etc. Believe it or not ICT do have a person who does their PR or at least writes their press releases !!! Its been the same chap for a number of years (with the exception of one year where they actually employed a company from Aberdeen to do it). He is very selective about who he sends the releases to and even when we were the official site he would exclude us despite requests from club officials that we be included. That was one of the reasons I got so frustrated towards the end of our time as an official site on SportNetwork (as some people know) but thats another story. I am sure Mr Bannerman gets just as frustrated as we do with certain things at the club but I fully understand that he has to be very circumspect when posting on here as he has chosen not to hide his identity like some posters do. If he were to constantly post something controversial he might have to deal not only with ICT fury but also BBC fury. I am sure that if he were an anonymous poster he might tell us what he really thinks.
  7. thats my understanding ... Brewster says who he wants, Bennett deals with the contract negotiations, and Savage (and the board) rubber stamp it if all is in order. I am sure its probably a little more convoluted than that but thats the general idea. As for the withdrawal, dont think its too difficult to figure out that one !
  8. 3 people involved in offering (or okaying) the contract from what I understand .... but the rumour is that only 1 was involved in withdrawing it. At least one of the other two is on holiday I believe.
  9. Yogi's banter with the crowd has always been quality..... I have vague recollections of him ripping the **** out of Frank Connor when we were in the lower divisions and then Connor chasing him into the technical area waving his stick :015: :015: not only that, he has the ability to manage a smaller team on a relatively low budget, get the best out of players and also bring in some decent signings both permanently and on loan ......
  10. no words needed ... [attach=1][attach=2][attach=3]
  11. CaleyD used to be invited along to the press conferences but those invites dried up. While I did not get the pitchside press pass I requested for last year's U20 world cup, I was on the daily invite list for press conferences on the basis of writing articles on this site and writing articles and taking photos for a Toronto FC photo site that I run on the side (tfcpics.com). If I can get a FIFA pass on that basis, then anyone who legitimately writes articles on an accredited website (such as this one) should be able to do the same. However, the bottom line is that anyone who does ask those types of questions would be excluded anyway - just ask the HN, P&J and the Courier who have all experienced it in the past !!! Don't think you are being totally fair on Charles there Clacher. He is not the spin doctor for ICT, but just has to work under the constraints I mentioned above. I would far rather have him posting on here with a little insight and some restraint than not at all. As for the Wyness story - no amount of spin will hide the real facts in this matter and whether your opinion is that he should or should not have been offered a contract the simple facts are that he was, he agreed to it, the club missed the agreed signing date/time and Denzil has been shafted as a result. Another fan favourite who may not be a 90 minute player any more but certainly still has plenty to offer has also been unceremoniously shipped out in his testimonial year yet the one contract hold-out who has been threatened with having his offer withdrawn seems fireproof ..........
  12. As far as I heard, he was supposed to sign it on Friday but a club official either couldnt make it or didnt turn up with the paperwork. NOT Dennis' fault at all. For those who arent bothered about him getting a contract based on his performances, think for a minute about the methods in use over the last season, perhaps a few names to help you .... Barry Wilson .... John Rankin .... Dennis Wyness ..... is the penny dropping yet. The treatment of senior players at the club, irrespective of whether you would offer them a contract or not is absolutely appalling. no wonder many do not want to stay.
  13. pachuco - I am a TFC season ticket holder too (section 113) and the one who broke the story on the U-Sector and RPB sites .... I am guessing he perhaps didnt impress in training camp as he has not featured in any games .... shame.
  14. I think it is fair play to have a separate thread about Denzil so the club can see how pissed off the fans are about this latest farce in man management.
  15. Don't you mean "will have" turned down the offer. The PR juggernaut hamster wheel has not got into motion yet and released a statement. Yes LG, cage is well and truly rattled. I think we all know Denzil is one of the good guys and with him, John Rankin and Barry Wilson all appearing to be shown the door at some point during this season or at the end of it (along with others), it doesnt bode well. :008: :008: :008: :008:
  16. Munro is good at what he does which is to get in good tackles and clear the ball. One of the reasons he gelled so well with both Darren Dods and Bobby Mann is that they could actually play it out a bit better than the "hoof" (at times). I like the idea of Granty as captain. it is fitting for him to have the armband as a stalwart of the side and a loyal senior ICT player but I also wonder if it is asking too much of him to do this task in the midst of all the turmoil in the background. Is he any good at office politics ?
  17. the 'secret' is on another thread ........ One player, who despite his varying form has the respect of most fans, and who had agreed a contract but didnt get around to signing it because of a club delay that was not his fault gets his withdrawn whilst another who has in the opinion of some been jerking our chain (or whose agent has) still has his on the table despite the big words of last week that it would be withdrawn if not signed by the weekend. what a way to build team morale. I guess you did say you would withdraw the contract offer if it wasnt signed by the weekend Craig .... we just didnt realise you meant someone else's !!! Now I agree with those who say Denzil may not be a prolific SPL goalscorer, but he is in most peoples eyes probably our #2 or at worst our #3 striker and there are a few that could/should be out the door long before him. Like Barry Wilson - who still has something to offer - the guy actually wants to stay at the club and is being treated like a piece of dog**** in a complex internal political chess-game. "allegedly"
  18. as will Gretna Vs Inverness CT fixture on 5 April.
  19. I dont believe that a lot of what is currently rotting our club is Brewster's fault but what I have heard today convinces me that the rot has to stop and it would seem while not there when it started, he has become infected by it too. I am sure Mr Bannerman or others will be along in the next day or so with the full story, but I am about as angry as I have ever been as an ICT supporter.
  20. Going by the accounts, our directors have not normally taken anything as payment. I would guess that some still get the odd freebie or perk here and there and that has always been acceptable given the time they give up for free although most do pay their way. I believe last year's accounts were the first time what amounts to a wage payment to a director has been lodged and although high, I dont think it was overly excessive. Shareholders have never received a dividend as the club has very rarely posted a profit. I dont think anyone is putting anything in their 'hipper' but I kinda know what you mean about the 'klingons'
  21. I am getting little bits of information from here and there and if what I am hearing is indeed true then it is Brewster's contract that must be torn up and torn up NOW. :sillywave: This club is being torn apart by people with no real love for it and it has to stop !!!!! :33: I am spitting feathers right now I am so angry :008: Its probably just as well that I am on this side of the Atlantic.
  22. One final update to this thread. I have received an email from Mike Smith as follows: With regard to the recent comment by "Caley4life" which you have now locked, I have to say his starting point is not what we think was agreed at the meeting. Our Safety Officer and myself met with him on the morning of the Dundee United game following the Supporters Trust David Sutherland?s suggestion that he contacted us before he tried to bring a flag on a stick into the ground. We had a what we thought was a very positive meeting, we appreciated that his desire was to purely increase support for the team but explained that we currently had within the Club?s ground rules, a prohibition on flags with sticks or canes on safety grounds as they could be a hazard or used as a weapon. This was in line with other SPL clubs. We did make the positive proposal that if he could get a number of like minded people we would look to put them pitch side on the gravel behind/beside the home goal prior to the game and at half-time as at Aberdeen. The Club would also make provision to store them on site. Our understanding is that Mark went away to look into this whilst we would talk to Aberdeen as to their arrangements. Also to other SPL club During the discussion we certainly said that there was a policy at Hampden Park for Scotland games of not allowing any flags on sticks/canes into the ground and indeed our Safety Officer was with a local group who had to take the sticks out of their flags - and these were small flags. Obviously we all saw at Hampden Park yesterday for the CIS Cup final, flags being admitted and I have been in contact with all the SPL clubs this morning asking them for a further update for their views on the current situation. Whilst ultimately it?s the Club and Police?s decision on a risk assessment, as with all these types of issues we do take try into account what happens elsewhere. I am more than happy for this to be posted either in my name or paraphrased by yourself. Regards, Mike Smith Regarding the Safety Association comment, Mike added this: Our safety officer and myself are both members of the Safety Officers Association and the SO has recently completed what was the second only FSOA(S) course.
  23. Ok. This thread is not serving any purpose that I can see other than lashing out at a club official because something he said about the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium was not replicated at the national stadium ... a stadium he has no control over the policies and procedures for. If he is guilty of anything it is not of lying about the matter, but of not clarifying whose rules they were - local (ICT), national (SPL/SFL/SFA) or international (UEFA/FIFA) as it seems quite clear from both LG and Maimie's response and from the responses when the whole flagpole thing was first mentioned that there is indeed a rule in place (regardless of who's rule it is). As Kingsmills has pointed out, some of the wording used by some posters in this thread is dangerously close to defamatory and for this reason I have decided to close it. If anyone feels the need to complain about this closure, please do so to the board moderators who can discuss it between themselves and re-open the thread if they think closure is not warranted.
  24. I'm with Jay_7 & Hamish on this one FLASH DRIVE = good for transferring files from one machine to another or for holding portable applications that can run from it on any machine (such as portable Firefox or RoboForm password stuff etc). Not good for system backups. When using it, just click on my computer and use windows explorer to drag/drop files on it like you would with any other drive. no need for all that right clicking palaver. EXTERNAL (or extra internal) HARD DRIVE = Also good for transferring large files from one machine to another but perhaps a bit bulky to be as portable as a USB key. Far better suited to making system backups than a flash drive ever will be, plus you can pick up huge drives (500, 750 or even 1000 Gigabytes (1Tb)) for a lot less than the cost of USB. Think I mentioned this on a thread somewhere else to you SP .... but if you use something like GHOST you can do wonderful stuff to keep your computer running. Step 1 - install operating system, windows updates, service packs etc and then all the day to day applications you want in your base system such as antivirus, firewall, word, excel, outlook, firefox, adobe ... etc. Configure them how you want. Step 2 - Use ghost (or similar) to make an 'image' file of your complete system. This 'image' will be very helpful to you if you ever have to revert your system back to its raw state. I would suggest you also copy this image to recordable CDs or DVDs for safekeeping. (belt and braces approach). Basically, step 1 will take you many hours the first time you do it as each program will have to be installed separately and you will have to download service packs, driver updates and all that fun stuff !!!! HOWEVER, by creating an image file, it means that if you ever want to blow everything away and start again, all you will need to do is use the ghost recovery disk and tell it to load that 'base' image. It might take an hour or so, but when you restore that image, all the programs you previously spent many hours or even days installing and configuring are there and ready to use. If you have them stored to CD/DVD you can also apply them to other machines (such as a new PC) Step 3 - Schedule ghost to take regular backups of your system. My full system is backed up twice a week and I also run a monthly full "my documents" backup with incremental backups a couple of times a week. This can all be done on a schedule so you dont even have to remember to do it. If something on your system screws up today, and you dont want to go all the way back to the very start with a clean installation then you can restore the last backup, or go back a further few days etc. The only downside is that when you restore an image from last week or from months ago you will lose anything from that date forward so if its not your email thats screwed up you may want to make an offsite copy of things like your mail pst files (to usb drive perhaps !!!) before restoring an image.
  25. Thanks guys - think we needed this thread :004: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1JLLR3cYLPA&...feature=related
