not sure ... hasnt been mentioned but commentators may have got it wrong when they mentioned he was on the right !

Imrie on the right again :024:

Tuesday 11th March @ 7:45pm ..... but I think its immaterial now .... its pretty clear from both the rules and from mutterings within the game that if the worst were to happen all results would be declared void.

A good move for Barry as he obviously still wants to play every week, but a bad move for ICT as far as I am concerned. Barry is still an SPL quality player. He may not be a 90 minute player these days, but he is one of the few who could come off the bench, or play for the first hour and turn the game in our favour. I also thought loans were not allowed after the window but if this is true then it is a shocking way to treat a player who is destined for the ICT "Hall of Fame" in the middle of what is his testimonial season.

very true wandering one ..... but there is a smaller pool of stories in Inverness than Manchester. I guess its just the consequence local media have to live with.
-
lets just say that reporters or publications that have previously asked "uncomfortable" questions, or printed less than flattering articles have found themselves somewhat frozen out (for at least a little while) on game days or at press conferences. Inverness may be a city in some respects, but in others it is still a very small town !!!

I hope you are right.

I havent had a go at Marius (or the board for signing him) - I think I have made it plain in my posting that my opinion is that it is not his fault. He is definitely a technically gifted player and he has won us games or contributed to wins, however, I dont think he is currently worth 2 or 3 times the wage of other senior players so it is the contract that is at fault not the player and that is what is rumoured to be causing a problem internally. I was 100% behind CC but yes I did criticise him for the "club of our size" comments that he made frequently and no, I dont want to see us going back to the "wee team from the Highlands" description, but that could be where we are headed if we dont regain harmony within the squad. There is a middle ground here somewhere and I sincerely hope our Chairman, Board, Manager and DoF can find it. They dont need to tell us what it is, but hearing news that certain players have put pen to paper on new contracts would be a good sign !

nope. Teams are guaranteed THREE home games against the OF. One year you get 2 home V Rangers +1 away and 1 home V Celtic +2 away. The following year you get 2 home V Celtic +1 away and 1 home V Rangers +2 away. If you make the top six, you usually get a second home game against the OF team you only played once at home. With TV, gate receipts, hospitality etc, the income is significant.

I think most fans could live with that, I certainly could. A nice simple structure that means you play each team twice, once at home, and once away, no split, relegation/promotion is straightforward, and you know your complete fixture list at the start of the season. The big problems would be (A) persuading the clubs - right now each club is guaranteed 3 home games against the OF with the possibility of another if they finish in the top 6. Thats a fair bit of revenue. (B) restructuring the governing bodies. Which organisation goes to the wall ? The SPL ? The SFL ? or do we have League 1 as SPL and League two as SFL with the SFA overseeing the cups ? Ideally, I would like to see one governing body for all Scottish teams but again, there are too many noses in the trough for that to happen. end result ... same old, same old ......

I am more concerned about what position we will be in next year if half of these rumours of player unrest are true.

The problem seems to be that the player concerned is indirectly (ie. not personally) responsible for a lot of what is rumoured to be going on in the background. While I dont go to the far end of the scale that some users do when talking of Niculae, sadly I think that Kingsmills is fairly close to being spot on. It was a bold move by the club for all the reasons mentioned, and I applaud them for having the balls to go through with it. However, so far the player seems to have shown very little in terms of recapturing the form that won him international caps and a move to one of Portugal's top teams. I would love him to recapture that form, I would love him to start banging in goals every week for us, I would love us to have a player on international duty at the Euros but I cant see it happening. We get glimpses that suggest he is trying to raise his game, but the simple fact is that he has not done it to the level or consistency where he is worth 2-3 times more than our other squad players. Since day 1, the rumours have been flying about his contract causing problems behind the scenes. Take note, I am not saying that the player is causing problems, just his contract. Every player has to try for the best contract he can get so we can't hold that against him, and we cant really blame others for using his reputed wage to try and get better deals for themselves and then being envious or pissed off when the club dont come anywhere close. There are some hard decisions to be made by the manager and the board over the next little while. Our team spirit is ebbing away, there is dissension (as well as jealousy, envy and anger) in the ranks, and they have to do something to fix it up and quickly. Do we get rid of Niculae and re-work our wage structure (ie. increase it) and then stick to it ? Do we re-work our wage structure and ask Niculae to prove his worth or take a pay cut ? or do we keep Niculae and be firm with the alleged 'rebels' ? I don't know the answer, I just know that whatever is going on right now, whether based in rumour or in fact does not make me feel very good about my club.

what ... lost at sea ? I think we did that quite well :007:

As Alex said - If we dont know, we cant publicise it ! Both the trust and the club send us communications from time to time asking for us to highlight things on the site - be they events, posters for home games, ticket information for away games etc and we are only too happy to stickie them. Even though there are scant details, I have stickied this for now - perhaps someone involved can flesh out the details

online readers dont miss out either :023: Ghostbusters

injured. hamstring problem. Agree that Black should have been on from the start. By all accounts, both Duncan and McBain were below par on Saturday so perhaps they should have been 'rested' before Blackie if CB wanted Imrie to feature. Agree wholeheartedly. I have always thought ICT were better when they play it on the deck .... and I mean always ... since Div3 days !!! We even laid out the Caledonian Stadium pitch with a camber that flows down from centre to edges to facilitate this (as well as drainage). When we play it on the deck we are a good passing side, in the air, its a lottery.
-
A fairer (and easier) way - and one I have seen done in other sports - is to go by the rounds of competition. they played each team once in the first 11 games - those results should stand. they played each team once in the second set of 11 games - those results should stand. if they finish the 3rd set of 11 games - those results should stand too, if not just these ones are erased. a bit self preservationist I know, but administratively, it makes sense.
-
rotating !! I can think of something else he could rotate on right now :008: :008: :008: :008: :008: That result was not pleasant and although no disgrace to lose to a team like Motherwell who are doing pretty well under McGhee, the tactics and lineup didnt help one little bit and the manager has to take the blame for that. Whatever the problems are behind the scenes right now - and there are too many rumours flying around (that I have chosen not to post) for that suggestion to be bull****, someone needs to go in there and sort them out and soon. The heart and spirit is being ripped from this club and that needs fixed ......
-
The strange team selection this evening could also add fuel to this fire !
-
Incidentally - for those who like to berate Black for his discipline .... McGuire has just picked up his 9th card in 18 games for ICT
