Alan Ball......
just heard that Alan Ball died this morning aged 61. A good footballer, he had his troubles to seek as a manager and wasn't best liked by the Scots! I listened to a tribute programme on Radio Scotland a few weeks ago at the anniversary of our Wembley 3 2 win. He went on at great length about Jim Baxter's performance on that day. He said half of him was thinking " How do I get the ball off that bugger" and the other half wanted to applaud. He was full of admiration for Slim and the whole team that day. Seldom do you hear that kind of tribute from an opposition player.

Relegation Party 28/04/07!!
totally agree Scotty - and while I have been to Victoria Park a couple of times in the away end this is one day that I could not in all honesty go. If the worst happens and they do go down I really woudn't want to see that. i don't think we will poach fans from them - there are already a percentage go to see both clubs and would probably continue to. however i suspect that we would not increase our own support just cos they go down... It's a bit sad when we are playing a game which could put us in 8th and all the additional cash that goes with that our fans are talking about going to support a team who could be our biggest rivals for survival next season rather than going and supporting our own team...

Supporters Club 'do'
The Supporters Club End of Season 'do' will be taking place this year on Tuesday 15 May 2007 at 7.30pm down at the stadium. Once again due to the split we have not been able to arrange a 'traditional' party. This one will be a Meet the Players night with a buffet and hopefully we will be able to have a wee question and answer session with Charlie and the team. It will be an ideal opportunity to chat with the players and to get tops and autograph books signed. We will also be doing our presentations. Tickets are on sale for £5 from Committee members (me, Lady F, Smiler, Caleyjen, Shona Garrity and Kerr Campbell. You can get me on 07720 433660 or post here. We need to seriously think about what we do at the end of the season from now as this is certainly not the ideal. Last year we tried it at the start of the season but that wasn't very successful either for some reason. The club will now be having an annual ball towards the end of the season but the price of this puts it way out of the league of many 'ordinary' supporters and certainly the younger ones. The Committee have had various thoughts about what format this event should take in the future and when - possibly even again a midweek thing where the players could go but be able to have a drink and have it more of a disco type thing. The committee would welcome your input into this so we can start planning now for the future. Also, like any event it will only be a success if it's supported by the fans. It really is a shame for so much effort to be put into something, the players all to be there but the fans don'e seem to care.... Bit like a Saturday sometimes...

ICT to block move to 10 team SPL ?
so no one thinks this one is a good idea?

ICT to block move to 10 team SPL ?
so far I'm the other.... Gordon Smith came up with a good suggestion - a bit complicated on the face of it but... He has been talking about the Austrian-Swiss set up an eight-four split with two tiers of twelve teams. The top eight would fight for the championship and European places and the bottom four join the top four of the other twelve in a play off for promotion and relegation issues, sounds like it could work, its been very successful over there, and it must be better than what we've got. :021:

i'm all for freedom of speech. people should have the right to say what they want, when they want, about whom they want unless it degenerates into some of the stuff we've had in the past and when that happens I have faith that the moderators on the board to deal with it appropriately. we all (well most of us) pay money week in week out to watch the team. And so what if we're not a footy manager in real life. We all have an opinion and some of the best have been heard on the terraces over the years. it does seem that lately you have not been allowed to express your opinion without coming in for some pretty harsh criticism from the opposition (what ever side you are on) but as has been said before if you don't like what someone has to say you can ignore them either by pushing the button or by not reading or responding to their posts. it has certainly been mentioned that lately there are fewer posters on the site which is a real shame cos when we moved to 'unofficial' it was one of the better sites around. as for fishing trips - i remember the days when me and caleyfifer would spend a lovely evening doing a bit of fishing..... Lol! :001: :004:

CC to go in the summer
Gee Whizz!! I find myself agreeing with what Clacher said to Chib... :010: :010: :001: all except Ian MacColl.... :007: I certainly used to think he'd be good for us up until he went to the Arabs - now I'm not so sure.... though he probably wasn't given much of a chance there TBH.

i think they do Gringo - Charlie has certainly made reference to stuff posted on the boards before and my guess is that many from the management side, playing side and admin side regularly keep an eye on what's being posted on here... In fact I'd be more than surprised if they didn't.....

Lol! I'll support any football fan if i think they are being hard done by and criticise when i think it's due too! As i've posted before when talking about banning orders we are getting far too hung up about stuff at games and taking our eye off the important things...

so half a dozen supposed 'hard men' from Castlemilk are indicitive of how all rangers fans behaved on the night? Stories tend to grow arms and legs Clacher. I'm in no way saying that all the supporters were innocent and there is totally unacceptable behaviour in an element of the support of ALL teams. However, what cannot be condoned is the violence that was witnessed the other night. Is it acceptable that a man is being continually beaten even when paramedics are pleading with the police to stop so they can treat him? but the police in spain arent used to having to deal with violent supporters and rangers fans are used to getting away with whatever they like in scotland this could be taken as you saying that rangers supporters are violent. there is a small minority in every support that are... but the majority of football supporters are not. And I'm sure that Spanish police are well used to dealing with situations like this - the problem is that their response is always the same....

fair enough if that was the case it just so far the eyewitness accounts seem to suggest it was unprovoked, however if that was the scenario than i suppose the bobbies were just doing their job Certainly the accounts I've heard and read from folk who were there seem to indicate that it was an unprovoked attack. there were folk being beaten for trying to help others who were injured and this was even before the game started when fans had been dropped off in a secure area before being escorted to the ground. Elderly men and women, young girls were amongst those targeted. According to police and stewards at a DU game not so long ago a certain Mr Macgregor was ejected from Tanny for standing which they say as being a safety issue... Can you imagine if the police here behaved in a similar way? we must also remember that this kind of thing doesn't just happen to Rangers supporters travelling abroad but to supporters of other teams too. One of the most disturbing things i read regarding the whole incident was Jim Traynor writing that they 'probably deserved a good hiding'. No one deserves the treatment I heard about from folk who were there. What i have heard and seen regarding it was quite horrific and it is amazing that no one died. I hope that one day we will be able to experience the excitement of a european trip but hope that we would never have to suffer what the Rangers fans had to on thursday.

Banning order for each of them, season tickets taken off them... maybe a fine of some sort! Do you not think they should be punished? the horse is very high today Harry.... :001: same could be said about your avatar or about the things our fans were shouting at Tony Bullock every time we play against him...
