  1. Um...Rangers resigned from the league Reedee? By the way, the thread was for this season (2007/8), so better state that from a couple of posts ago we're now saying 2008/9 predictions start here
  2. And the lunch was no more sandwiches no more sandwiches or fries with bap in hand and mayo and cheese we'll feed on Heinz meatballs! :clapping03: :clapping03: :clapping03: :clapping03: :clapping03: ...I thank you... :020:
  3. NOTE [scotty]: Have split this topic to keep 2008/09 predictions separate from 2007/08. Predictions for last season can be seen on this thread .... http://www.caleythistleonline.com/communit...hp?topic=3972.0 Just thought I'd remind people of what they actually thought. Hearts in the top 3 from most Motherwell for relegation :023: And Walter Smith to be sacked for having such a poor season by some :crazy07: I think we can be forgiven for giving Gretna a chance as no-one could have predicted the cheque signing fiasco. Also, I think Killie's terrible run of injuries combined with not being able to replace either Naismith or Nish accounted for their poor place. I expect them to recover next season. Anyway, here's what I got: 1. Celtic Celtic 2. Rangers Rangers 3. Aberdeen Motherwell 4. Hearts Aberdeen 5. Hibs Dundee Utd 6. Dundee Utd Hibernian 7. Kilmarnock Falkirk 8. Inverness Hearts 9. Motherwell ICT 10. Falkirk St Mirren 11. Gretna Killie 12. St Mirren Gretna
  4. Anyone seen much of Neil MacFarlane recently? Thought he would do very well when he was younger and didn't realise he's slipped down to QoS level. I wonder if he's doing well enough to consider a transfer to ICT?
  5. I still can't understand why Boyd doesn't play more. Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush weren't exactly team players when they were younger. They were simple goalscorers. Give him a few games Walter, to develop him or move him on for Scotland's sake.

Yeah, ridiculous. Takes the title to the last day, gets to both the League and Euro cup final in his first season with players that aren't his own and it's still not good enough. I hate Chelsea more than I've ever hated any other club :008: SPL? Difficult to predict with Hearts what will happen so who knows. I can see St Mirren sacking theirs as they've done it before when it's been ill-deserved. I think Paateleinen has signed some players with real potential but Hibs have a really critical support. They chased off Alex Miller and Bobby Williamson, who both done well for them and you'd never guess John Collins had brought them silverware with the venom they turned on him.
  7. Along with most of Cairo, I was cheering on Man U. I don't support them but hate Chelsea for their arrogance and dull play. I also like Man U's attacking style. When they eventually (if it happens) fall, it'll be like Liverpool of the 70's/80s. Everyone wanted them to lose but then when Arsenal, with the long ball, stepped up, it was only then people realised just how entertaining that 'Pool side was (and I support Everton!). Surprised Giggsy didn't take one of the 5 penalties - he was never going to miss. Just knew Anelka would though.

Good call for Billy Dodds. When he was caretaker at Dundee Utd, he never lost a match (for those with short memories, just naively assume that was for half a season or something - on no account look up the statistics that it was only one match and debase my point)
  9. "Graham still has another year left on his contract, as does Marius Niculae, and we have had no offers for him." Why mention Marius then :023:

Skelton (though it seems JJ has got him for Killie, who are impressing me by their buys and rumoured buys). I know Innes was going to leave for Morton. Can't remember if he went (think he did). Anyway, him too if he's available (which I don't think he is)
  11. Probably Black being dropped. There were probably worst things that happened but it was just the big arrow pointing to how disarrayed we had become. TinCanFan: You're worst day might come at the end of the season - Watt not being kept on :022:
  12. Fortunately then, the only way was up!
  13. Wost ever position and lowest points tally recorded :symbol_exclaim01:
  14. For me, he'll come good. He looks pretty green :002: but with some talent. I'd expect him to develop into an SPL player (BTW, club did the right thing - he was injured playing for ICT).

And why does he do it? Bravery :024: no, it's because no-one in their right mind would have given him a chance at an SPL club after the nightmare of Dundee Utd :020:
  16. Glen just signed a multi-season contract with Hearts. No chance I'm afraid.

Couldn't agree more. Spot on first post. All you need now is 'a source told me' before your posts :004:

It's always been about take the money and run after a season. As long as we have some good targets (though Killie seem to have secured a good few of those), then a bit of cash to keep us going is always going to be the upshot.
  19. If you think their timewasting was a disgrace...how would you decribe Rangers fans actions in midweek in Manchester?? A disgrace. I'm no bluenose - sooner they get off to the EPL the better for Scottish football. If they needed a point to secure UEFA Cup football, no problem with time-wasting (well, I do but that's another story...). As it is, they had a corner and wanted to time-waste (also the GK did it). Seemed to me that was about Rangers needing the three points. That shouldn't be on the mind of Motherwell players. They cheated their fans a bit there. Nothing to lose? Then entertain. Try for a goal when in an attacking position.
  20. I'd have liked to see him after a pre-season but I guess that'll only happen in another team's colours.
  21. Thought the time-wasting by Motherwell at the end was a bit of a disgrace this afternoon. Why do the players think the 'Well fans would rather see Rangers potentially lose the title than Celtic? They should be playing for the club and the fans 100%. As they weren't winning and a draw won't do them any good, they shouldn't be time-wasting. :33:
  22. I agree with Reedee. 6 months is a start. If he can show the same level as he did when he came back from Perth, I'm sure he can win another 6 months.

I'm shocked! Produced one of the most entertaining football teams I'd ever seen in that great Celtic line-up, where ball players of Stubbs and Boyd were rocks in the defence, Collins and McStay were at the heart and di Canio, Cadette and van Hooijdonk were the amazing front line. Only a sheer will to win and incredible goalie stopped them winning the title. RIP
  24. It was obvious at half-time that Zenit were bypassing the central midfield. Can't believe it took Walter Smith 77 mins to realise Hemdani was being bypassed and the extra holding midfielder was completely ineffectual. By Zenit concentrating on the wings as well, it also meant neither Davis nor Whittaker could be an attacking force. Poor tactics by Smith. Completely outhought by the Little General.
  25. So BBC Scotland don't think it was important enough to put on Radio Scotland's webradio :rolleyes02: I'll just have to listen to the English commentary (or web tv) with updates about the tennis or Hull City :33:
