Matchday Thread : Celtic -V- ICT
Absolutely fantastic, and even better to see Grant nodding in the winner (ok, equaliser, but it feels like a winner) after the bit in the paper last week where he recognised fans comments on here about his contribution and how the crowd getting behind him spurs him on...he hoped that would equate to him chipping in with the goals, and there we have it. Doubt Rooney will mind Grant pinching it from under his nose because Butcher has this team back to playing as a unit, for each other, and it's not about the individuals. Starting to feel a bit like I did during the run in last season where I was almost scared to believe what we were witnessing......long may it continue!!!

"The Referee's a Hamer"

Our Prayers Could be Answered
Rumour that Dallas resigned to stop more of the Refs turning round and going home after they became aware of the whole e.mail thing. the whole of Scottish Football seems to be getting caught up in hysterics at the moment. Starting to think it would have been better to just cancel the football card altogether this weekend and spend some time looking properly at all the issues....just as the Refs had asked when they made themselves unavailable.

Our Prayers Could be Answered
MissICT was right, the team were travelling down this morning. On the subject of the Refs, it seems the bad weather couldn't have come at a better time. Can't help but feel the decision by the SFA to postpone some games on the grounds of "weather concerns" would not have happened had they not found themselves short of match officials.

LOL strange but funny
Just another example of a player being caught out for not playing the whistle....when will they learn?

split: McBain Testimonial - booing
Why would those around you have cause to be personally offended by the booing? The fact you're basing your argument on complaints/moans/comments made by others and not because you were offended yourself, seeing as you're not the sensitive sort, is exactly what I am getting at, and what I find irritating. You are right though, many, if not most, of the threads about "offensive" behaviour do follow the same trend....that being one where people who have no cause to be offended themselves feel the need to complain on behalf of others they assume should be offended but make no complaint themselves. I'm not trying to justify the actions of those who chose to boo, but Brewster is a big boy and I'm sure he was aware that it was likely when he agreed to play the game. He's not made any complaint about it as far as I am aware and he seemed to have enjoyed his night when he was up in the Kingsmills Suite after the game (shock horror, he didn't sneak off to cry in a corner because some bad boys/girls booed him).....so under what authority do people feel the need to complain on his behalf? BTW, why do you feel the need to constantly play the "are you going to disagree/have a go because I'm a female?" card. Is that because you think all male football fans are chauvinist pigs, or do you think we should somehow be responding differently because of your gender? You seem to be trying to create an argument on that front that nobody, apart from you, has mentioned. Maybe....and I'm going to go right out on a limb here....people might just disagree with what you are saying (or how you are saying it) and couldn't care less if you were male, female or something in between!!!

split: McBain Testimonial - booing
If someone did something that truly offended a person, then of course that person is well within their rights to raise it.....but that's not what we have here. What we have are a couple of users who are worried that something might have offended someone else. They throw about these claims that others would have been offended without proof, and then shoot down those who claim otherwise with statements like "how do you know?"....well, how do they know otherwise? It's exactly that kind of busy body behaviour that causes most problems and arguments. Same thing happened with the whole "Gypsy" chant scenario. Nobody from Ross C*unty had ever made a complaint, no travelling folk had ever made a complaint....it was all blown out of proportion by the poor sensitive souls that were getting offended on behalf of people who weren't actually offended by it in the first place.

EVENT: Inverness CT v Legends
Mountains out of molehills, IMO. Any booing was coming from a handful of people at most and whilst it wasn't welcome I very much doubt it spoiled anything for anyone. In truth, I expected worse than a few, very tame, boos to be aimed at him. Had it been a normal match day with more people in the Stadium and a bit more noise then it's unlikely they would have been heard. If there's one thing that annoys me more than idiots at football matches, it's people who to go to matches and spend more time looking for things to complain about and worrying about what other people are up to instead of watching/enjoying the game themselves....and don't even get me started on the whole "being offended on behalf of others" thing.

BREWSTER FOR COUNTY PETITION
I know a couple of people who were trying to get money on it, but it seems the odds being advertised by the bookies were nothing more than an advertising stunt and/or they got wind of McStay as well and dropped it quick.

Our Prayers Could be Answered
Being willing/able to go out and save a life isn't really comparable to going to a football match. Not saying people are right or wrong to attend under the circumstances I described, just trying to establish how much those backing the Ref's decision are really going to support them or if, in reality, it's all hot air and no willingness to back it with action.

Our Prayers Could be Answered
Ok, you are tecnically correct....as they are not employees and have no union they can't actually refer to it as a Strike. All amounts to the same thing and my question stands.
-
Our Prayers Could be Answered
Just out of curiosity, how many of those who back the Ref's decision to strike will go along to the game if a Ref from another association is brought in to officiate in their place?

The ICT brand
What's so childish about it? He's been offered the chance to prove his theory....should we be expected to foot the bill for that when we believe he is wrong? I thought the offer to refund his money should he prove the lower end of his theory correct a very generous one...and double his money for thousands of new fans would, IMO, be money well spent and I'd happily part with it if proved wrong.

Our Prayers Could be Answered
I wonder if the SFA have confirmed that these Welsh, Irish and/or English Refs are happy to come here and officiate matches or if it's just an assumption? I know if it was me I wouldn't be heading out to step on the toes of colleagues by crossing, what is effectively, their picket line.
