  1. http://www.dundeefc.co.uk/news_detail_iframe.asp?h=25-POINTS-DEDUCTION&newsid=1284 I know people at Dundee will be hurting, but this statement will do nothing to win support from others. I fail to see how it's the SFL who have put the club at risk, that is something that lies squarely at the feet of their own Board and the sooner they realise that the better.
  2. Not strictly true Starchief....neither could guarantee to fulfil fixtures, and as Dundee have already stated publicly, they can't guarantee the club survives beyond Christmas at this stage....so effectively there's no guarantee from them to fulfil fixtures either.
  3. Should have been a harsher penalty, IMO. They should have been facing the same fate as Livingston, especially as this is a second offence.
  4. My poor niece near ended up in tears when we scored. Not through joy, but from the fright of the shout I let out I've been saying all week that we would take something from this game and despite going a goal down I was still confident that we were playing well enough to rescue a result.....isn't it great to have that belief in your team!!!
  5. I wouldn't say hostile, but for the less savvy fans it can be a little intimidating due to the gulf in numbers between home and away fans. Feb 8th 2000 probably did more to help me get over that feeling than any other game. Came out of the ground expecting problems/trouble, police/stewards were going to great lengths to keep fans segregated etc, but other than a couple of our own fans who got chased off for trying to noise up the Celtic fans, things couldn't have been more amicable. It's probably one of the areas in which being such a "new" team benefits ICT. We don't suffer any hangovers with other teams from the days when organised casual/hooligan elements went looking for trouble. We've also gone about our business in the proper manner and earned a fair bit of respect for getting to where we are through (mostly) honest graft...compared to the likes of Livi who tried to buy success and who's fans had delusions of adequacy, and are widely disliked as a consequence of that.
  6. The "loss" of atmosphere is more down to stadium design than location.
  7. Had intended on going but something has come up and can't make it now. If anyone wants to make me an offer for my tickets (2 x adult) then feel free. I'd obviously like face value (?23 each) so I get my money back, but will take whatever I can get. Happy to deliver locally for free.
  8. I get fewer broken windows in the greenhouse since I started using it.
  9. No one thing is going to bring about improvements, but that doesn't mean the SPL/SFL/SFA should continue to just tinker with things for the sake of it....which seems to be what they are doing. I would love to see the analysis work they have done for different league sizes/formats which apparently includes all the pros and cons for each, because I can't for the life of me fathom out how they came up with 14 as the best option. There's 101 things we just don't know/understand, and which the SPL don't know/understand...and without such information they are not in a position to make informed decisions. Perhaps their time would be better spent properly surveying the fans and gathering that information instead of making changes based on presumption and self interest.
  10. Both on a Tuesday, just different Tuesdays.
  11. Mahonio, you screwed up and you took a pounding for it.....you're not the first, you won't be the last and you may even do it again....that's life. Your rep is NOT what this thread is about....30+ people red dotting a post is not a problem with the system, it's an indication of the fact you made a twat of yourself. The ongoing problem is of YOUR making......You can continue to bring it up and attract more red dots for your whining, cussing and being annoying about it or you can take it on the chin, stfu and move on having learned from it. As someone who's posted a lot of unpopular opinion and some total twatage over the years....my advice is to go with the later....you might actually gain some respect for manning up and shrugging it off instead of crying like a baby at every opportunity.
  12. I get the feeling it was more a case of him waiting on a job that felt right for him. He's had to suffer a lot of crap that was outwith his control during his managerial career and it would be no surprise if he just wanted to ease himself back in at this level as opposed to being forced to do it to get back into management. Great guy and I shall be listening out for the East Fife scores to see how things go from now on.
  13. I wonder what the site search engine would turn up in reference to Rory for those chastising "others" who gave him a hard time? Anyway......I sang the lads praises on many occasions, and also had the benefit of seeing him produce some great performances for the reserves. However, he could never reproduce that for the first team and was probably given more chances than most to do so. I don't think it was attitude, youth, style, position, support, consistency or whatever that was to blame....he just wasn't good enough to compete at SPL level and, in all the chances he was given, even those like myself who believed in the lad had to admit he showed little (if anything) to make us believe he ever would be good enough. Glad to see he is doing well (and hope he is enjoying his football) where he is at, but I would be very surprised if he managed to succeed much beyond the level he is playing at now.
  14. I'm pretty certain the Scotland game is on the week before.
  15. We (me mostly) lost focus on the Player of the Month tallies last season due to the volume of work being undertaken on the site. However, the load has been lightened significantly this season as we've taken an almost total back seat with forum moderation, leaving it up to our trusty moderators, and a few people have stepped up and are doing a grand job with the editorial stuff, with TM4TJ running that particular part of the ship. Soon as I get a chance I'll look to see if we can simplify the process and re-introduce the Player of the Month tallies. I've not even looked at the voting totals for this season so far so have no clue who is in the lead. If nothing else I will endeavour to get an update done after we have completed the first round of league matches....feel free to remind me in a couple of weeks.
  16. **Awaits jokes about cemetery having more life than the Main Stand**
  17. There's a surprise..... "Small" team doing better than expected and the Scottish gutter press start dragging up crap. Seems fairly obvious that this is nothing more than a bitter Drinkell making a few quid by (badly) trying to spin a non story. He wasn't deemed good enough, he asked the question and he didn't like the answer he got....dry your eyes!!!
  18. I give very little credence to the studies done regarding the location in 1993 and whilst a few people still hold on to the party line of "it was the only option", we all know (and many have confirmed to me) that we were pretty much given no option and the study was a waste of time, money and effort. I also don't buy in to a lot of the arguments/excuses pedalled out in regards to the logistical/traffic issues and think that many of them could be overcome by thinking outside the box just a little and the benefits would far outweigh the problems. However, in saying that, we're pretty much stuck with what we have and there's no existing finance or likelihood of finance in the foreseeable future which would even scratch the surface in terms of funding a move....no matter where you wanted to move too. Until that changes, all other arguments are pointless.

Considering the company name is "Inverness Thistle & Caledonian" then ITC could be considered acceptable.

Glad to see the process has finally reached this stage and I hope the opportunity is grasped.
  21. I'd pay double to see that
  22. CaleyD replied to Tug's topic in Caley Thistle
Xausa was capable, unfortunately we only ever got to see what he was capable of when the ball was played inch perfect to his feet as he wasn't fond of chasing anything down or putting in a wee bit of additional effort from time to time. He wouldn't rank as a "legend" on my list.
  23. Minimum of 18 would be my vote, but that's not going to happen any time soon. The BBC have it spot on with the 14 teams and it has been pretty much agreed and only requires rubber stamping. A move to 14 teams with the unequal split is, IMO, even more ridiculous than the current setup. They talk about making changes for "the good of the game", but little or no attention is given to the customers desires. Not only is that not good for the game, but is very short sighted when it comes to the business aspect. 14 teams will do NOTHING to improve things, an 8/6 split will do NOTHING to improve things and we'll all be sitting here in another year or two talking over the next stupid idea they come up with. The fact of the matter, as far as I am concerned, is that they (the SPL) can't be seen to do nothing and would rather put through a ridiculous change which will have next to no impact on the SPL clubs, than make proper changes for the long term...even if that did come with some short term negatives.
  24. Ever have one of those days where you have a certain task to do and every time you start it something else comes along? Getting the info for this up on other parts of the site has been that one thing for me today....but I see you have taken care of it, cheers. Back on to the discussion. I'll be there (hopefully on Kingsmills offer) and looking forward to an entertaining evening. The score/performance in these games is irrelevant and it's more about the craic, both in the stands and among the players on the pitch. I have no real issue with Testimonials, where they are merited, and I don't think we've ever had one that wasn't. Had our players been on stupid wages their whole career then it might stick in the throat a bit, but that is certainly not the case with our guys.
