Who ate all the pies?
As you say and as I understand it, Lindley have no issue whatsoever with using local suppliers. Don't take this as 100% gospel, but I believe they are/will be looking to offer the much requested McDougall & Hastie Award Winning Pie as part of the increased menu they will have available. If any of you had a pie at the Cup Final....that was Lindley Catering. I had one of each and liked them both

Who ate all the pies?
We don't have a "current local provider". The company being used till now was from somewhere along the A96. Also, it could hardly have anything but a positive impact on quality. I stopped purchasing pies etc from our kiosks a couple of seasons back due to the fact that you couldn't be guaranteed your pie would be hot, and if it was then it was generally burnt solid in the process. The club have answered the many, many complaints about the standard of the catering by appointing someone new and on top of that they seem to have done a deal which should increase the revenue they get from this part of the business.....everyone's a winner.

Santa's Sack
Seems to be some assumption that their was an error in the contract...I've not seen anything from either side to suggest this is the case. From what I can ascertain, the issue that FIFA decided on surrounds who instigated the transfer. FIFA have obviously ruled that it was the club and Niculae is due payment....as per his contract. In regards to "losing out"....we're probably getting very close to losing out as the legal fees, interest and exchange rates all mount against us.

Crowds and pricing
I perhaps should have been clearer....I meant fans tended to be more satisfied with how things operate after a crisis and a Supporters Trust gets more involved/influential.
-
Crowds and pricing
A Trust can not build strength or influence without the support of the fans, and getting fans to unite under such a banner in this day and age is very difficult and generally only happens during times of crisis. You look at all the most successful Trusts in the UK and they are all attached to clubs who have gone through major problems in the last 6 or 7 years.....they are also the clubs where fans are generally found to be more satisfied with how things operate. More members = more recognition More members = more influence More members = more income More members = more shares More members = more satisfaction Those of us who run the Supporters Trust can only do so much, if the fans of ICT want a "Better Quality" and "More Influential" Trust then they have to do their bit. They need to become members and they need to play a part in making the Trust bigger and better. The Trust exists to be what it's members want it to be. As a member of the Trust it matters not a jot how old you are, what job you do or how much money you have...everyone is equal. The values that form the foundation of a Trust are exactly the values we want to see entolled on the clubs we are attached too.....but that can only happen if the fans pull together. I'm not saying Trusts should exists to take over clubs, in some cases that is necessary, but there's plenty of examples of Trusts with little or no shareholding in their clubs who work to great effect alongside club owners/shareholders....and that's great. It also means that should the worst happen, then these Trusts are well positioned to give immediate and effective assistance in securing the clubs future, or dare I say it, it's existence.

Santa's Sack
I don't think there's any more discontent being shown towards the current board of directors now than their has been for quite a while and I've seen nothing to suggest that any "sack the board" campaign has been ramped up by anyone. My views on the situation are well documented on this forum, as were/are my predictions about the situation we currently find ourselves in, predictions made 2 or 3 years ago (if not more). A situation I take no pleasure or satisfaction in whatsoever. As has been our (ICT's) downfall on a few occasions now, we are slow to react and reluctant to be proactive. This nearly cost us our place in the SPL to begin with, it has cost us more than a few good players over the years, maybe even a couple of good managers, SPL survival and almost certainly some much needed investment. One of the hardest things for a person to do is admit that they have perhaps done all the can and things are now beyond them....for whatever reason. We have a lot to be thankful for over the years and credit where credit is due for those things. However, much of that goodwill is being rapidly undone by what I can only view as people either doing nothing, taking their lead from someone with (possible) alternate motives and/or individuals out of their depth and scrambling to cover their own inadequacies. That's life....and sometimes we have to take our cue from others, regardless of whether we like what they are saying or not. I don't need to think I am capable of doing a better job to realise that the job being done now is below par.. When you can look at so many situations and see that things should/could have been so much better then that in itself should have the alarm bells ringing....it's not as if we're arguing over a single screw up, which everyone is entitled too now and again. If wanting a Board of proactive individuals who do what's best for the club without surrendering to the whims of one individual makes me a "Sack the Board" campaigner....so be it. If achieving a better long term future means we have to suffer some short term pain....so be it. What I no longer accept, in terms of our Board, is the "give them time to learn by their mistakes" argument. Most of these people have been on the board for many years, made many mistakes, continue to make mistakes and show no signs of learning from anything. Things are not going to change over night, and the opportunity still exists for the Board to turn around the views of many. If that happens and the current incumbents can show they are capable of turning things around then you'll get little argument from me, but so long as they remain anonymous with heads buried in the sand that will never happen.

IRN BRU PLAYER OF THE MONTH....
If we start putting Imrie wide on the opposite side then I think we'd have enough to either force teams into playing an extra man at the back.....reducing the threat at the other end, or we'll start carving out more chances.

A proposed solution
The lads with the drums have already been asked if there's anything we can do to assist and they haven't got back to me.

Crowds and pricing
I like the suggestion put forward by Dee4Life and I believe the potential pitfalls are more than outweighed by the potential for the scheme to improve travelling support. If the away club could double it's travelling support then it could effectively offer free travel under such a scheme....just the incentive needed to get the increased support to make it all work. In regards some other comments on reducing ticket prices..... The problem is that you have a stadium/pitch which is used 20 to 25 days out of 365 and although you can/should be paying lower player wages in the lower leagues the stadium costs don't reduce and you still need X amount to run the club. In order to reduce league ticket price by ?5 you then have to find a way to increase annual revenue by ?315,000 (based on an average 3500 crowd). You can argue that a reduced price would increase the average attendance, but it would need to increase by 1750 to reach break even on current situation.....that's not taking account of the extra cost for increased stewarding/policing etc. The risk is too high for clubs to make the first move, and although they might realise the desired effect in the long term, clubs...just about all clubs, work with very short term financial models due to the nature of the business. It's schemes such as that being suggested by Dee4Life which help drive up attendances in the first place. Once you start driving up attendances then clubs can start looking at decreasing ticket prices as the risk to them has been reduced.

CTO - The Future
As you say, we have a wide range of moderator "types" and that's fairly intentional as it provides a more balanced view. Not all moderators are active in terms of physical participation in moderating the forums, but they are there as they provide valued input to discussions and the like. There's no way we would consider any form of random moderator appointments either. Moderators have a lot of responsibility and they need to be trusted. They have access to tools on the site that, in the wrong hands, could cause a lot of damage. They also have access to information which we simply could not, and would not risk just any old person getting their hands on. Also, just as you need a fairly consistent starting 11 in football in order to put together some consistency in play, we need to use that same principle when it comes to the moderators to ensure a consistent approach to moderation.

Should We Now Be Blooding More Youngsters ?
I'd be keen for us to see out the festive games against C*unty and Dundee before writing off our (realistic) chances of pushing for the top. If things haven't picked up by then we should definitely start looking to blood the younger lads and prepare for the inevitable exodus at the end of the season.

QOS -V- ICT : matchday thread
Gutted....sounds like the guys were out there playing with a bit of passion and unlike the last couple of games some wild officiating might have actually denied us the 3 points as opposed to the team falling apart in the second 45 minutes. Will leave the individual player assessments up to those who were at the game instead of making wild accusations and assumptions based on the odd snippet from Open All Mics.

Kids for a quid
I think 12thMan has it pretty spot on. Our once healthy bank book was already starting to look a bit threadbare at the end of last season and will doubtless take another huge hammering this season. That inevitably means that everything the club do has to be looked at with a heavy emphasis on income and cost. Kids for a Quid, whilst accompanied by an adult allows parents to take younger kids along without it putting too much of a dent in their pocket, whilst also bringing in a few extra full paying adults for the clubs benefit. It's not the ideal, but it's a welcome compromise and a step in the right direction. As I've said before, we all have to do our bit. If only 25% of us managed to persuade one new adult to attend and take a couple of kids....the place would be packed out, the club would make a few bob and it might just encourage the club to repeat and/or extend the offer. I understand the club have another initiative on the horizon involving kids, so they certainly seem keen to do as much as they can to bring new, young fans through the gate. So long as we keep encouraging and supporting these initiatives then they can only improve things.

RUGBY - U20 - SCOTLAND V FRANCE
The Scottish Rugby Union have a team of ground repair experts who are being made available to assist with returning the pitch to a satisfactory condition and I believe this can, and will, be done overnight after the Rugby match if we end up with a home game on the Saturday. These are the same guys who work on the Firhill pitch where Partick seem to manage to co-habit with the Glasgow Warriors. Things must be working out there as I believe they have not long since signed another 5 year deal with them.

I get where you're coming from, it would just be nice if a positive piece of news could be met with a positive reaction....just seems like the more people try at the moment the more they get knocked for it.
