If they did that then you'd have had nothing to moan about!!!

A proposed solution
What are you talking about! We have had the best result in years! We have actually got the board thinking about something that will make the fans feel better at home games! :P :011: I know that was said with tongue in cheek, but there's actually a few bits of news to come in the (hopefully) not too distant future that should put a smile on the fans faces and make them realise that the club are starting to listen again. There's still HUGE problems that exist and I'm not trying to kid anyone that things will all of a sudden become super rosy and everyone will be best friends at any point.....but whilst we all work towards dealing with the bigger issues, there's no reason why progress can't be happening in the areas where it's currently possible to do so.

A proposed solution
You can be certain that the Club Board are fairly up to speed on what gets discussed on here. They might not read it all themselves directly, but there's enough printing of threads goes on at the stadium for me to be confident that information is getting passed up the line. Not to mention the fact that I get the occasional question on something in the passing.

A proposed solution
Good news is that the Club Board have not dismissed the Trusts proposal as being out of hand or ridiculous...and some of the input and comments from this thread have added a bit of weight to things. The not so good news is that no final decision has been made yet.....still, better a little bit of waiting for the right decision than no waiting for the wrong one.

New stock
Latest update is that the new merchandise is due to be shipped by Errea on 7th Dec. I believe this is (at least) a week later than the club had hoped/expected, despite them being chased on an almost daily basis.

Golly out!
Do people really think that publicly berating/putting players down before a game actually does anything to help?

A proposed solution
Could the club not enlist a building firm to change it, even for a bit of advertising space? Let's face it - we need as many fans as we can muster. And the players appreciate a bit of signing. Or to have the singing / terracing area named after them? I reckon this would be a big pull to games. I for one went to Ayr with terracing in mind and county, although we all go to that one regardless. The club could fleabay the seats to raise the cash? You have to think longer term. Yes, you could rip out what is there and put terracing back, but what happens when we get back to the SPL? Is someone really going to want to invest in a structure which would then be sitting empty because it can't be used? Honestly, forget about any idea of converting that area back to terracing because it's not going to happen. It would be a short term solution to a long term problem, and we've had enough of those kinds of decisions crippling this club. The best that can be hoped for at some point for that area....and assuming someone can be found to foot the bill....is the addition of a roof. Supporters Trust have another meeting with Darren tomorrow and I will see if we are any further along with the proposal we put to them, or if I can get agreement to share some more of the details.

Re-Building Process
As far as I am concerned we're still going through the "Rebuilding Process" following relegation and we'll not have any need for another one any time soon unless we can get the finger out and secure promotion. Getting caught in a constant circle of "Rebuilding" would be the worst trap we could fall in to right now.

Queen of the South Roll Call
I hope that is deliberate ;) Either way you will be getting ripped at the Raith game How quick people forget.....one word.....boonigging :P
-
A proposed solution
That was looked at, but the old terracing was concreted over to make it suitable for the addition of the seats and the "steps" are now too high/steep to pass muster for use as terracing. To change it back would not make any financial sense.

Singing section
Nice idea, but not possible or practical......Season Ticket holders are entitled to first dibs on their seats and if the club were to deny them that then it's asking for problems/complaints.
-
New stock
It will be listed when it arrives, and is expected during the first week in December...which would mean any time in the next week. Only caveat to that is that Errea are notorious for not delivering when they say they will, so be patient and I'm sure the club will let us know as soon as they have it.

Midweek games
Slightly off the aim of the topic, but is anyone else loving the fact that we actually know when games are going to go ahead and not waiting for the inevitable date changes brought about by Santa TV?

WITWAI
After a quick call to my old man, I now know it was Black Park....name was changed some time in the 60's.

WITWAI
I'm obviously thinking of somewhere totally different then :P

WITWAI
Was just called Grantown Park wasn't it? In fact, that might still be the name of the larger area, with only the football bit called Seafield Park.

Butcher has to Go!
It's extremely difficult to find a manager that ticks all the boxes, but fairly easy to get one who ticks very few. Butcher signed a couple of useful players when he had no transfer money, convinced a couple of others to stay who we could easily have lost had it been anyone else...not to mention the fact that he was basically taking on an impossible mission...either to save us from relegation, and failing that, take us straight back to the SPL. The question I tend to ask myself is....would it been any different under another manager, and what other managers who were available at the time, or are available now, would have us in a better position? Had we signed a stronger tactician (which is where I think Butcher might be lacking a little), would they have been the kind of manager who could have retained and added decent players to allow them to realise the benefits of that? Unlike Brewster who, certainly from the outside looking in, was getting everything wrong and had lost the respect of a large number of people including players, we have a Manager who is well liked by the lads he has working under him and who I believe (despite performances and results) are working for him. IMO, we have a couple of small problems that need sorting. There's the confidence issue with the players who seem to get into a state of panic when they go a goal down, or when ahead and the opposition pull a goal back, and we also have an issue whereby we're not adapting to counter changes made by the opposition. We know the players are capable, we've seen that with our own eyes. We know that Butcher is capable of a game plan that is getting us goals...certainly at the outset. As Jailender has pointed out, our problems are far from being unique at this level, and as I've stated several times since the start of the season, we need to be better managing our own expectations in that regard. I don't think Butchers "PR" is what is winning people over or clouding anyone's judgement, certainly not mine. I just don't necessarily agree that things would be any better under anyone else right now and we certainly can't afford to be blowing money on changing managers and the inevitable changes in squad that would come with that. If we're out of the race come the last half dozen games then we can think about what is best for the future and whether that should include the current managerial setup.....if we can still afford them come that time.....or if we need another shake up. The best thing we, as fans, can do right now is continue to get behind the manager and team. That's not to say any of them are beyond criticism....far from it, but I don't think calls for Butchers departure are either sensible or merited at this time.

CTO - The Future
We actually have had some users who's post were very difficult to read/understand. However, it is not for anyone to ridicule users for this and the moderators will tend to talk with these people privately to offer some friendly advice and guidance on how they can improve things. We don't allow TXT Speak as a matter of course, and we do expect certain unwritten "forum etiquette" to be followed (no posting in all caps or large fonts all the time etc), but in the grand scheme of things it has never, and is not currently, a big issue and we seem to be slipping into the area of nit-picking when we need to be focusing on the larger issues. Things have improved since this discussion started. We have had one or two who ignored the points raised here and they currently find themselves in moderated status (posts need approving by one of the team before they appear live on the forum) and one or two who have slipped as a result of the anger/frustration of events on the park, which we recognise and understand, and it's been dealt with by giving them a quiet nudge. We still have users sticking their nose in where these decisions have been made, and that doesn't help....but we'll deal with that. Much is made of what moderators should or should not do and when they should do it. What I would add to that is the fact that each user on any forum is the first line of moderation. You have the power to review your own posts before hitting the submit/send button and taking a moment to read over something before you do so can make a world of difference.....not only for checking spelling/grammar, but for judging the tone/nature of your reply.

ST ANDREWS - Quiz Night
"Mary of the Assumption" is the Patron Saint of Jamaica. However, in reference to the flag, it was designed with a Saltire to represent the islands Christian nature, and since the oldest Anglican Church on the Island is called "St Andrew" they felt that using the Saltire was a fitting tribute. Some Catholic Schools mention St Andrew as being their Patron Saint, but I think that is in reference to the school itself as opposed to the whole Island. Jamaica does not appear on any of the main (reliable) sources that I used when constructing the quiz as being one of the Countries for which St Andrew is the Patron Saint.
