Listening to Brews post match interview I don't think he is under any illusion as to what the main problem was today. At the start of the interview it look liked he was going to try and blame conditions (laughed at the pitch comment, especially as Robbo had said on the radio that pitch was in beautiful condition)....but his frustration showed and he acknowledged that it was down to a very poor display by the team as a whole. Interestingly enough on the subject of tactics.....I think Robbo called the game and the substitutions the same way as Brewster played them...so either Brewster had an earpiece in listening to the commentary or both he and Robbo got them wrong....and that includes starting off with the 4-5-1.

That was Sportsounds MotM....I thought I heard them announce Duff as the Matchday MotM just at the end?

What a stupid time to lose a goal.....caught clock watching?

Cowie is playing in front of the middle 4

Turning into a bit of a battle of the midfield with neither team making much progress in the final third. (typed cautiously as we face a corner)
  6. I think your right, and in order to address the issue, anyone representing Scotland should have to grow a dodgy beard and/or moustache and large sideburns. Anyone failing to do so will be provided with sticky on ones.
  7. I blame his parents, a few more hot erses for back chatting when he was growing up and he wouldn't have this problem Seriously though, I don't mind so much if a player gets a card for playing hard and making tough challenges, and if he's picking up the odd card for that then you can live with it. If he can cut out the bookings for the silly things like arguing and giving the ref attitude then that's progress. I think he went a long way towards doing that at the end of last season, but it's going to remain tough for him as he has a bit of a reputation with the Refs and the slightest hint at anything will draw their attention. He needs to stick in there and not let it get to him if it does happen...he'll come out the other side far better for it.

Strangely glad if that's true about him starting on the bench as I feared we might risk a 4-4-2 in order to accommodate him and that would have been a mistake IMO. Not overly upset to see Duff coming in either, but it kinda suggests that Djebi-Zadi isn't shaping up as we might have hoped and highlights the need for another Central Defender.....we shall have to wait and see I guess.

Why does it have to be any of the above? And if it does then surely it must be A!! I forget the exact statement and who at the club made it, but their was reference in the press not so long ago that Djebi-Zadi would be it as far as defensive signings were concerned. An admission, if you were, that the club are making no effort to sign another defender.
  10. Some information which might be of special interest to those exiled fans who can't make the game on Monday Night. MFR will be doing a bit from the Stadium before the match, dipping in and out during the match to bring you updates and then doing the post match interviews. It's not a full match commentary, but I'm sure they'll be interviewing some interesting people throughout the course of the evening and at least you'll be able to keep up with how many goals we're beating Liverpool by

I recall similar praise being handed out to the club when they negotiated a deal to bring Marius to the club, Oh how that has all gone pear shaped!!! Here's hoping they've learned a lesson about ensuring they understand what's in the contract, what's not in the contract and what it all actually means.
  12. Rossco can cover in goals
  13. If you want to know for sure, then just ask Gringo if he's made plans to come up for the game. If he has, then it's a dead cert it will be moved
  14. Rossco isn't doing anything he hasn't done for as long as I can remember. The difference at the moment is that we have nobody covering his back. In the days of Mann or Dods they always had him covered and it was never a problem, and when Wilson was playing in front of him he would do the sprinting back to cover if they had both pushed forward to give Ross time to get back. That hasn't happened since Dods left and since Wilson has been spending less and less time on the park. It really is something that Brewster should have picked up on (and CC before that) to rectify the situation, but they haven't. Rossco needs to be told to stop pushing forward so much or someone needs to be given clear instructions to go and fill the hole when he does. As to the "hands up" for offside and fouls....that does my nut in no matter where it happens on the pitch. In every team sport I've played the first thing a coach should teach/tell you is that you play the whistle. You might influence the ref/linesman once in a blue moon if your lucky enough to catch them in two minds, but if they aren't already thinking of sticking the flag up or blowing the whistle then your just asking for trouble.

And for all those so quick to jump on anyone who may dare to criticise....all your doing is highlighting the negativity. If you don't have anything to offer by way of counter argument for the criticism then don't jump on people's backs for daring to have an opinion that differs from yours. i.e. If your going to have a go, then have a go at the point being made, not the person making it.

Delighted to see that we pulled of the move on a permanent basis as I don't like the idea of young players coming on loan, us spending money on their development/training and them going off for free at the end of their time....at least now we know that the time and money will be invested in someone with potential who we'll have a chance of recouping some cash back for if he decides to move on at any point in the future.
  17. How can you get that, from this?
  18. I like it, although I would probably have preferred blue socks with white instead of the red which just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the strip.
  19. It wasn't "voting twice" in the instance I had to remove....it was giving the same player 5 points and 3 points, when it clearly states that they should give points to 3 separate players....it was quite possibly a simple error and the person has been asked if they wish to re-submit a correct set of votes.
  20. That's a line I've often heard used, but when you ask someone to name these "high numbers" it starts of with about 3 or 4 and dwindles into an...."och, I cannae remember all their names".
  21. I think the so-called "rivalry" between fans of the pre-merger teams is a bit of a myth and what issues might have existed have turned in to no more than good hearted banter between guys in the pub before the game. As for the "lots of stay away fans"...that's a total myth. The real die hard stay aways can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand...the rest are mostly guys who had another "big team" at the time of the merger and decided to follow them instead....the merger is just a convenient excuse for them to head off down to Glasgow or through to Aberdeen on a Saturday instead of coming to to TCS.
  22. Looks like he's a winger turned Striker. Seems that despite having a contract with Hercules CF till 2009 they've had him on the transfer list since June. Not the established/proven striker I would have hoped we'd be looking for, but who knows?
  23. Watching the match ( Accies v Utd) I really couldn't believe how stand offish Utd were. To begin with I thought it was just Utd being a little arrogant and underestimating the new boys, but it continued for so long, and even when they did decide to tackle it was wild and desperate. Hopefully we've taken note of that, and we'll show just how capable our lads are when it comes to closing down the opposition...and we need to be doing it from well up the park too as one of our big weaknesses, historically, has been defending set pieces....and that's where the Accies look like they could really trouble us as they have some tall guys in their squad. The result against Utd doesn't make me any more or less worried about this weeks encounter against the Accies, and it's probably good that they game someone a bit of a doing in the opener as we're a lot less likely to go into the match with any ideas that it will be an easy game. With the lads doing so well against Aberdeen it'll be tough to change the team but I think we really need to take advantage of the width of the pitch at TCS...I would't mind seeing Wilson starting this one on the right and Imrie on the left as they are both guys you can feed the ball wide too and they will run at a defence....but who do you replace? I don't think we should be too quick to go for a 2 up front setup either, as I said going in to the Aberdeen match, we have to play to our strengths, and that's the midfield. If we are considering a 4-4-2 then it should be someone like Imrie playing in behind a striker as opposed to 2 out and out strikers, that way he's there to support in the middle if need be.
  24. I'm delighted to finally have someone come out and say that we're aiming for something more than Survival. That's the mindset we should have adopted 2 seasons ago after finding our feet in the SPL. All we need now is for the board to show that their ambitions match that of the players and fans.
  25. I check the validity of the votes on a regular basis and will give them one final check when the poll closes at the end of the week. So far I've only had to remove one set of votes.
